Rumor Mill Churning

True or false?
  • Off topic.... Gang enforcement is finished. They will have the option to become part of a new citywide tru/msf like unit or be sent back to a district. Gmac is going to sell this as not another citywide unit but as an already citywide unit who has a changed mission with higher visibility(uniform) and a more focused and proactive approach to certain areas in the city. This way gmac can stick to his original story of more bodies in patrol and no more ultra aggressive units don't need to be made... It's the "same unit just a changed look and new mission to be more effective with the cities needs". All units will be consolidated to start at homan square in what is now the gang enforcement office. Kevin ryan(former commander of tru will still be the boss. Allegedly this was his plan and McCarthy liked it. Huge objections from Leo Schmitz since gang enforcement was his baby with JFed. One thing that wasn't brought up though was when its going to happed. I can't see them doing mid summer so it's either going to be soon or after summer. Fact or fiction ??? Usually I dont believe this type of stuff but I heard it from a pretty straight guy who works in admin in organized crime so it sounds very legit to me
We haven't seen the out-and-out blanket denials that usually accompany a rumor like this and we can definitely see something like this happening before the schools let out - anything to put a dent in the $1 million-per-week that Rahm and Garry are burning through. At some point, someone is going to shut off the spigot if federal money isn't hijacked.

With Stevie G as the Chief of Specil Functions (and one if the founding members of TRU) I would bet the house that he has already put the bug in gmac's ear about creating another citywide unit like TRU/MSF under his oversight.
He thinks because he's Stevie G everyone that was dumped will come back. Anyone that goes back deserves what they get.

\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\/////////////////////

Allow me to throw some numbers out there.

6-8, 3-5 and 5-10.

What's this you ask?

It's 6-8 coppers, all with 3-5 years on the job, all on the paper for some pimpy 5-10 bag weed arrest.

Clogging up a tact office in a district that not one of them is assigned to as if they've been there 20 years. Checking their email and telling war stories they never experienced. Bragging to anyone within earshot how they "hit the tip" and where they "posted-up to see where dude had the jabs laid-out"... all while same "dude" is sitting mere feet away, cuffed to the wall, taking notes on the Poleecess' strategy and enjoying the Newport he talked the officers into letting him smoke.

This type of petty shit is what passes these days as acceptable activity from a "unit". Gangs used to be the Real Deal... now it's some D-Bags grabbing some mutt with a few bags and the entire team taking 3 hours to "process the arrest".

Don't even get me started on the pups assigned to the Area Saturation Teams. Worse yet.

Guys and gals that are too thick to realize that they're being used... and the ones almost smart enough to see the charade for what it actually is still manage to convince themselves that it's OK to be a fucking pawn. Manning a beat car in some half-shitty district on a less-than-desirable watch until they actually pay their dues is beneath a lot of these self-absorbed veterans sans hash-marked sleeve.

"Ultra aggressive units", you say?

Hardly. Try ultra impressionable, ultra entitled and ultra naïve.

Send them all back to the districts where they may actually learn something pertinent. Where their presence may actually allow more people to use elective time off. Where they'll hopefully get the dose of humility so many of them desperately need.

Patrol has always been the backbone of this department. It's about time the backbone is reinforced, especially given our actual manpower numbers.

The number of POs will be cut back to about 320 @ day from 430.
It turns out PPOs who complete their 12 week FTO training will be sent out in vans to cover the "violence zones".

Little by little VRI will be cut back. Grab the cash now while you can. Put it ALL in deferred comp.

Kevin Ryan is actually working trying to make a huge positive impact on this City's crime element. Gangs should be left alone and allowed to do their job. Both my old partners work their and both say the same thing which is unheard of for police. Vise is who should be looked into. Commander Angaron is a tool and knows even less about Vice functions. He is more arrogant than Garry and knows about as much as old Commander Lille Crump Hale, but talks daily about what he can do. He does not deal with us as staff members and has no clue as to what is going on here and we have even less of a clue what the overall picture is or our goals are. He is too busy cursing the powers at be because he could not get the sergeant he wanted (be careful JR, he is pissed at you) than trying to help guide our unit to be the least bit effective. Chief Roti, can you at least ask the people you already have if we would like to try a different division within our division than constantly going outside to get people that have no clue, have the wrong perception about what we do, are starting at the bottom via our learning curve and being guided by idiots like Angaron and O'Grady select.

This is a whole unit of good ole boys and clicks. I am not trying to fit into this circus but I don't mind laughing at the clowns.

new ppos will be the new high visibility "tru" why would you get rid of GANG enforcement in Chicago the GANG capital of the world. does that make sense? you'd look like a fool as a mayor and a supe.

5/22/2013 02:49:00 AM

Because sorry to say but the majoritiy in geu don't know their ass from a hole in the ground as far as gangs go. They come into the districts acting like Gods tying up the radio chasing the guy that has nothing to do with the real players in the gang then yes, they do go in and tie up the entire lock up processing their arrest/facebook account! So spare me the but they're needed b.s. because they are not.

I do get a laugh out of responses like yours though. You must be nervous you will have to pull your tight jeans off and take your stupid baseball cap ioff and go back to patrol. your the one that is a bosses bitch bringing in nonsense activity. I bet the waitresses at all the bars know how many contact cards you write lol

OT: FTO Facts

Over 200 signed up for the test.

176 took the test.

118 were asked to take the training.

Over 90 said they would.

56 showed up and completed the training.

All 56 were given their first choices of assignment.

None were put on 1st Watch unless they asked for it.

All Districts are now training districts.

FTO’s were allowed to bid for them.

FTO’s are given preference for additional training i.e. Carbine training and Law Enforcement Medical and Rescue Training (LEMART)

has anyone noticed that the cars that homeland security now drives says in BIG letters POLICE.. as a matter of fact in MUCH SMALLER letters it says FEDERAL PROTECTION SERVICE as an after thought it seems they put HOMELAND SECURITY on the fenders.. WHEN did our POLICE get replaced by a NATIONAL POLICE FORCE?? won't need local Police after OBAMA gets done with the help of RAHM those that pledge allegiance to the left will just be transferred to the NATIONAL POLICE FORCE..

Patrol is hardly the backbone of this department. Riding around answer calls and handing out pieces of paper hardly qualifies as being a backbone... I don't know why that nonsense saying keeps getting thrown around like that. It's damn silly.

Yes, I am a hairgel, dumbass, douche bag and all the hurk-a-dur comments posted on this blog. I don't care the above needs to be said.

As for gangs? It's about time. Pointless unit that should have been axed long ago.

So Patrol sucks and Gangs sucks. Who does that leave to be "the real police?" You and your north side tact team? Don't make me fucking laugh. Dong.

It's about time. There are way too many jeans and T shirt police on this job. This has to be by far the most unprofessional and sloppy looking department in the nation. Talk about an illegitimate department.

It's long overdue for tact/gang to put a uniform on.

What is anyone's conviction rate assballs? This is Cook County. Stop hating because you can't get on a team. If you were the working police you would know how this county's criminal justice system really works. Go answer your next baby momma domestic.

I Fart In Your General Direction said...
"This way gmac can stick to his original story of more bodies in patrol and no more ultra aggressive units don't need to be made..."

The problem is that you are all talk on a website. Don't act as if you were never excited on this job and wanted to rock and roll. Too many of us are quick to condemn the young guys for wanting to advance. I had a great FTO years ago BK who always stressed to never pass am opportunity to learn something new or go to a team. We are quick to bash the new guys but slow to lead.

Thanks for the post SCC. Kevin Ryan will be on a war path because he is on the blog. He is a very insecure individual. Friends of mine in GEU have said he is killing morale. Deputy Chief Leo knew how to take care of his people. GEU has been told that they can't do any warrants or follow ups on the weekends! So if you get a hot tip, get it Monday-Thursday. Too bad, I would usually see GEU people around the district or hear them on the air. Lets see how much effort they are going to put forth now.

To stay in your lane. You are correct Patrol is the back bone of the Dpt.Saturation only gets credit for box 1 and 2 arrest so no the entire team doesn't come in for one arrest. When you see the entire team it's cause we cleared a block. Yes it may not be a glorious felony arrest like you get on a daily basis.
