Shooting in the Box = Drop Paper

This is without a doubt, one of the top ten stupidest things we've ever heard of:
  • A triple shooting happened in a box at 108th and princeton. Officers were out of roll call and headed to their box. They were told to drop paper. Department looking to get some answers and blame someone for this.
Blame someone? How about blaming the shooter(s)? Dropping paper is stupid and unless served with some sort of allegations ought to be written along the lines of:
  • R/O was enroute to assigned location when a call came out of persons shot. R/O responded to the scene and assisted in securing same.
You can't refuse the order to write the To-From. It's informational and maybe ought to be written on one of the blue Information Forms available at the Desk. Anything other than that should be addressed via the SPAR/CR process with representation present if the bosses are looking to blame someone. In fact, the FOP and PBPA ought to come out with guidelines for their members regarding this so no one gets denied Contract protections.

And keeping officers off the street to generate paper? That kind of runs counter to everything McOnTap has been preaching here for months now.

What they will do is download the GPS/Brain Box from the vehicle at OEMC on Madison to see if you are lying.
It will take at least a day to get the info.

THEN, "they" will know exactly where each car was at the time of the shooting.

You cannot take lunch or a personal until 2000hrs when working 1800hr VRI.

"THEY" will try to find a way to fuck us.

The bottom line:
GO STRAIGHT TO YOUR BOX.
Then, put on the Netflix.
If some mutt gets shot you are covered as long as you are in the stupid box.
Just remember to write a B.S. parker or contact card during the tour.

It ain’t rocket science.

I though the CPD was a "paperless" department? Trying to be more "green." HAHAHAHA! Paper paper and more paper. That's all the CPD knows. Since we went to automated reports the copies increased at least 4-5 times what it use to be 8 years ago. Copies of everything x5. It's fucking crazy how much paper is wasted just to track meaningless stats and in the end all the paper gets thrown out. What a waste!

They wanna catch you on a rule 14 violation by checking where you told them where you were vs. your GPS.

perhaps SO 08-01-05 (summary punishment) will need to be expanded:

12. Failure, while on patrol duty, to give full attention to the prevention of crime as a result of:
a. lounging on or about the location of a primary or secondary assignment.
b. unnecessary visiting with members of the general public.
c. visiting with other Department members except for the exchange of information relating to their duties.
d. parking Department vehicles in locations where in such a manner will serve no useful police purpose.

"THEY" can just add e. not being on the scene(or within a two block radius)before or during the commission of any crime or quality of life issue within their assigned beat

Your wrong on this one, write the paper as soon as ordered,if they try and dicipline you down the road they just fu##$d their case. They took a statement from you without benefit of counsel knowing that discipline was likely. Any discipline they try to get will be thrown out.Been there done that thanx to Richie the iguana in the old 10th dist.

Disclaimer. I would have been at my assigned location but I had to report to the roll call room to listen to a moron speak. Then I had to check out a vehicle because the department wont let me take it home.

The Dept. probably told Sgt. you gonna lose your spot unless you can justify what you do i.e. spars and C.r.'s.

This is like that old Sgt. Action Jackson for you old timers, sparring coppers for the most stupid reasons in Traffic Court Assembly Room! Just another way to fuck the working copper! You are better off NOT writing tickets!

Tickets in Traffic Court these days get thrown out because the judges feel sorry for their scum voters!

What's the big deal, so they want a report from you. You are being paid pretty good money to be in that box, end of story. If the boss wants a report guess what you are an employee so give it to him.. It's called accountability. That's the problem with officers today, they have a big problem understanding that they are employees and have to do what is being asked of them.. Just do the dam report and shutup..

********************

There was a Homicide in the “VRI box” on the 1100 block of North Pulaski 2 months ago involving a Clemente student.

It was around 1900hrs and cars were still coming from 61st street roll call at the time.

Sure enough, McJagg had the data retrieved from the cars assigned (It has nothing to do with having a PDT or not)

Sure enough, you could see where every car was every 5 seconds on a map along with their speed.

Luckily, the officers were telling the truth and WERE still coming from 61st Street.

This is what they will do if you get involved in a pursuit and someone gets killed.

IT DOES NOT MATTER if your lights are on or off or you log onto a PDT.

Now is NOT the time to play super cop.

The OBAMA administration hates the police and they would just love to have a few locked up on his watch.

From the Revolver, Call Box and Yellow Paper Police.

There was a time when officers had to make a report on every radio assignment. No job was coded out; a report and R.D. number was obtained on every job. There was a check the box in the narrative section that said as I recall, "Based upon preliminary investigation this incident is UNFOUNDED". There were also separate report forms for Burglary, Robbery and a few others not covered back then by a General Offence Case Report.

At that time the Chicago Police Department was second only to the Pentagon in the amount of paper products used by a single organization.

Ask an Old Timer what "Yellow Paper" means.

I'd like to answer that question, "Mayor Rahm Emanuel and Superintendent Gary McCarthy have failed to hire enough police officers to ensure adequate coverage in The Box during times of relief."

Do these idiot bosses realize how long it takes to get from 61st/Racine to 108th and who knows where? Next thing you know, they will have us leaving roll call lights and sirens to our box, just like a scene out of hill street blues!

First of all, F*#K OFF. Accountability ??? Show me one bit of proactive police strategy these bosses have come up with, then you can talk accountability. Sit in the box and don't make an arrest if it's not in the box. Write a mover or parker. You know the rest, ETC. ETC. This department has turned into a joke. Oh yeah, F*#K OFF again.

This is old Cholly Williams type nonsense...

Pimp slide up to some unsuspecting coppers and demand a To-From for some shit that happened that was beyond the coppers ability to stop or control...

Some mislabel this idiocy as "Holding The Blue Shirts Accountable."

Others call it "Discipline."

Seriously?

Roll call is 50+ blocks away from your assigned post and one dog shoots another while you're en route?

Why don't these wretched bosses demand a To-From from the dogs doing the shooting?

o_o?

>Crickets<

It's fucking silly...

Do these nitwit bosses want an apology from the Coppers for something that happened on their assigned post before they arrived to make their relief?

Dangerous, cowardly and lazy-assed supervision that needs to be pointed in the other direction so no one gets hurt when it goes off.

The supervisor commanding that paper be dropped, should be made to also drop paper explaining what, in their limited police experience necessitated a questionable at best command.

Making coppers drop paper for silly shit that's beyond their control is the hallmark of incompetents, bullies and cowards.

*HAH! I HAS SUPERVISED YOU!*

Heh! I showed THEM! I couldn't think of shit else to address the problem at hand so I "punished" some peon blue suits... Promote me."
