Missing Firefighter

  • Police are asking for the public's help in locating a Chicago firefighter who went out to run errands Saturday and never returned.

Herbert "Bubba" Williams, 41, was last seen on June 22 on the 100 block of East 73rd Street in the Park Manor neighborhood on the South Side. He said he was going out to run errands but has not been seen or heard from since, police said.

Monday marks Williams' 42nd birthday, police said.

He was last seen wearing a bright orange T-shirt, navy blue and orange jogging pants and a blue Chicago Fire Department baseball cap, police said.

He is described as a black man with a medium complexion. He has black hair and brown eyes. He is 6 feet 2 inches tall and weighs 260 pounds, police said.
Keep an eye out.

I hope he is found unharmed and in no way do I mean to insult Chicago's hardworking public servants.

I just can't help but notice that when there's no shooting, assault or robbery involved, suddenly the media doesn't hesitate to provide a detailed description...

A big guy in orange pants ought to be easy to spot.

Prayers for the fireman and his family for a safe return.
How come the media can or will say black male when its a victim. But when it comes to inform the public about offenders they will not say the race of the offender. All we get is "several unruly teens "robbing and beating people or "a male with a white shirt "raped the woman or just "males " shooting and killing....

Of course it is, how else would anyone know that they are heros. CPD Boys and girls in blue are the unsung heros.

Your not a real fireman unless you own at least three red vehicles all with the CFD logo on the rear window and a CFD license plate frame.

Now if he were a criminal on the run the Tribune wouldn't deem his race important and would excise it from the story. But if he's a "good guy who's missing" then race is very important and worth mentioning. I'll never grasp the Chicago Tribune's selective oddness.

I'm a cop and I always wear CFD stuff. They're cool, have great graphics and there's a new one every few weeks. CPD T-s are the same old same old. Me and my dad own the same exact items and he bought his thirty yrs ago. I'd get a red truck too if CFD didn't already hog them all up.

Maybe they always wear CFD stuff in case they get kidnapped. If Ramirez is the standard of current CPD bosses on deck, kidnapping and abduction victims will need all the identifying clothing they can find.
