The StreetlightMarksman Strikes Again
Can someone mention to this hypocrite to keep his opinions to himself? He is the mayor's mouthpiece, nothing more, and for him to make any sort of statement about training is ridiculous:
- By next spring, hundreds of thousands of Illinoisans are expected to be carrying concealed, loaded firearms. That became law last week. But the debate over what should be in the 16 hours of training each must receive, rages on.
The Concealed Carry Law enacted last week gives the Illinois state police 60 days to come up with guidelines for the required training classes, 16 hours' worth. Chicago's top cop told FOX 32 News, though, he doesn't think that's nearly enough to teach civilians what they need to know, especially when it's legal to fire a gun at someone.
How about when to shoot at streetlights? Was that covered? Because we heard that that will be hours 12 and 13 of the Concealed Carry class. It also helps if you yell racial slurs at the streetlights and maybe have a few drinks in you to improve judgement and accuracy.

From what I understand the 16 hours will have an emphasis on legality of situations. Range time is also good. I am willing to bet that if any Officer walked up to this jagoff and handed him their weapon he would not be able to strip and clean it much less put it back to fully functional. That's a lot to cover in 16 hours especially if we have to find our best BAC for shooting stationary obstacles from a moving vehicle. Scotch, Schlitz, Seven & Seven? You don't need to know how to clean a gun. You can take it somewhere to have it cleaned. Citizens who plan to conceal/carry should focus on the legality issues and how/when to shoot. Cleaning a gun shouldn't even be part of the course, but an additional segment you can have as an option.
Also, maybe someone should alert Eric Holder to set up a 'tip' line re: Garry and his racist slurs from days past? Eric Holder should look at himself first, because he is one of the most racist people in this country.

You can go to any gun range in the state and I'll guarantee that 75% of the civilians at the range are more proficient with their firearm than 85% of law enforcement officers. Most "trained" cops have little knowledge of how their gun works nor how to break down their weapon. The only time they fire their weapon is at the far too few qualifications (accuracy is laughable- NO, actually it's scary)and most need assistance on how to PROPERLY clean their weapon, if they clean it at all. So save your bullshit. BTW, many of the worst are white shirts.

Ranges are down and no ammo to practice with.He has a lot of nerve to talk about citizens being trained when the CPD rates you when we qualify at pass fail because of an unfortunate incident years ago at Barry and California where there was a gun battle with the police and a female who had nothing to do with it was struck by police gunfire and was killed. He scored a 72 when the lawsuit was filed and his card was evidence it court.

It's really, really not hard to figure out when lethal force is legal.
- Don't start a fight
- Don't escalate a fight
- If you can, get away from a fight
- If, despite all that, you believe you're going to be severely harmed, killed, or raped in the immediate future, then you can use lethal force.
Now, there will be some variation depending on your state laws, but that's the core. Even in states where you don't have a duty to retreat, trying to get away will serve you well.

I don't want some potentially dangerous or armed lunatic knowing where I live. I can't be home 24 hours a day to protect my family or house if they come back, intent on mayhem, while I'm not there.

Why would a class on concealed carry even address weapon maintenence? Questions related to the ownership of a weapon can be skipped, since the permit is not for ownership. All that truly need be addressed is when you can legally carry and use your weapon, and perhaps some suggestions on effectively carrying. There's no need to try to turn Average Joe into a gun expert, he can do that at home on his own time.
