Safe Passage Needed INSIDE Schools

Who would've thought there was a need for this (besides an insane person that is)?
  • More than 25 people, mostly children, were hospitalized after a student discharged pepper spray at a Deering neighborhood elementary school Wednesday afternoon on the South Side.

A student brought pepper spray to Marsh Elementary School in the 9800 block of South Exchange Avenue that discharged about 1 p.m., prompting a hazardous materials response, authorities said.

A Chicago Public Schools spokeswoman said the incident occurred in the cafeteria and affected 8th-graders.

A Marsh student inadvertently discharged the spray and some students complained of headaches, according to CPS, which said all parents were notified.
Obviously, we need a boatload of signs IN the schools where kids can see them an feel safe along with the teachers and administrators. It's for the children you know. You wouldn't want to deprive the children, would you?

Student brought spray that discharged. What? Did the spray sprout arms and discharge itself?

In the cafeteria...

...that was an aerosol condiment.

Does anyone recall the E2 Nightclub disaster?

And NwesRadio 780 erroneously referred to the ingredients that were discharged in that school as "mace."

We were told coverage until Christmas break, "reevaluate", then possibly coverage for the rest of the year.
Just like Afghanistan, once in, how can you pull out?
The first event after it's pulled will bring national press. Not good if you're running for mayor.

Too bad we don't have something like officers in the schools. You know like a unit. I don't know call it a school patrol unit. If only we were fully staffed.

All school children should be armed with squirt guns containing hydrochloric acid.

That may be good for civilian use for someone who wants to hit an attacker and run. But for L.E.O. use not recommended. If you have to wrestle the offender into cuffs he can scrape the stuff into his hand and go for your eyes.

Recently I inquired about updated use of force posters. The answer was that they were in committee and there was no budget to print them.

And do I recall the E2 Nightclub disaster. The Fire Department has a mass casualty plan and they practice it.

What do we have?
