- What's with the special details made available only to the select few to work as assistant/observers?
There are two groups preparing for out of town details. One for the Super Bowl in New Jersey and the other to Sochi's Winter Olympics in Russia, to monitor and observe security protocols.
What were the requirements? Who decided who gets to go?
We don't have a domed facility or a stadium that meets the capacity requirements of a Super Bowl, so what's the purpose of sending anyone to New Jersey?
We also think that Rahm learned from Shortshanks and understands the Olympic Committee isn't picking Chicago without a shitload more bribes than 'Shanks was willing to part with, so what's the point of sending anyone to Sochi?
Something smells funny here and it isn't just McCompStat's feet.

Going to base it on how many arrest you have. Lol if they did this 10% of the department would be in the mix. What a joke this department is, don't get me wrong it beats working for a living, however the promotions the incompetence of Supervisors cause there are very FEW leaders out there.
Last note. The squeaky wheel gets the oil. Remind you don't need any box one arrest or CI's or warrants for gang enforcement division

Is it possible that this all originated at a very high level outside Cook Co? Perhaps it was suggested by a very powerful lady advisor, with the initials VJ? Only the best and most loyal will be picked.
Souldn't there be some kind of bidding process here. Is this a violation of our contract to select who gets this nice detail. I would call for our FOP to investigate but they are as corrupt as the slugs in city hall.

Hey SCC FYI stadium management group has been trying to add the minimum amount of seats to shoulder feild for a Super Bowl since at least November.
Man I have 5 years on job and in my short time i have definitely learned if you not a bosses kid, a sexy ass woman, or buddies with a Sgt u AIN'T going nowhere ......im not leading the city in arrests but I've always been between the 70 to 100 mark with a fair amount of movers and parkers....I've never been offered tact ....begged to get on saturation and been denied....the people they have on these teams is a joke half the time! Anyway it doesn't matter I got an 86 on the Sgt exam and finished the second part in 3 hours and feel extremely confident.....thanks Bernstein....I'm definitely gonna get my revenge!

Yeah,great idea. Let's host an event that'll make the mayor's buddies richer and the taxpayers poorer.
You can't base anything on amount of arrests. It should be based on amount of CONVICTIONS. Every time I'm in court i see wonder kiddies get red faced angry when the judge gives the "no pc" verdict but honestly, listen to the lame testimony and you can see why. Watching a "hand to hand" a block away will never get you a conviction. Can't get C.I.'s unless you're in GED so try something new like actually writing down what the person said, post miranda of course, of their admission and maybe your cases will hold some water. All i'm saying is, think further into the future with your arrests. No matter what the clueless bosses say, it's quality (convictions with time to serve) not quantity (No P.C.) that really matters. And yes, I am in GED and i went willingly when the move came. Well worth it ONLY because the schedule works for my family and no other reason because there are no more perks left on this job. They ought to take those safe passage officers on Central...too busy reading fashion mags, looking at their smokey eyes in the rear-view mirror. I get it, your hot, but c'omon. Your not attending to the traffic congestion caused by people parking in No PARKING Zones, illegal double parking, and the soft crossing guards who allow unattended children to cross from between two illegally parked cars and they say nothing to the parents who are too busy to cross with the children. I guess if I had 8 or more loosing one wouldn't be bad at the dinner table.....geeeze

We can't host a Super Bowl here. The seating capacity at Soldier Field is about 62,000, one of the lowest in the league. The NFL has a Super Bowl seating minimum of 70,000 seats.

Hey kid, assuming you work in a faster district because you only have 5 years on the job, 70-100 arrests per year is nothing....it really is. Come back and complain when you start pushing between 150-200, and if you want to get on a tact team you have to go pimpy.

70-100 per YEAR! Jeez, I thought you were talking about per decade! I would put you on tact, that's for damn sure. Now I sure don't get that many but I can supervise and criticize like a mother. I am definitely boss material. I can tell good stories too.
I am also Trustworthy, Loyal, Helpful, Friendly, Courteous, Kind, Obedient, Cheerful, Thrifty, Brave, Clean, and Reverent.
Can anyone tell me if the SWAT team is a legitimate testing process? I don't know anyone on the team but I don't know if I would waste my time after spending all my energy studying for the Sgt's exam. Any info would be appreciated.

REQUIREMENTS:
Super lengthy...
nothing to do with activity.
Offers made first to highest seniority MFF who maintained medical certification and had already done the extended crowd control training for NATO.
But 20 spots remained open because the qualifications were a long list of conditions so they made calls first to anybody who worked NATO or either of the inaugural details or the convention.
Current valid passport, no medications, valid current physical and medical clearance (within 12 months).
No asthma, allergies, or any chronic condition as those chosen for Sochi were made aware that the town has little to no westernized access to medical resources.
Training would be short notice and paperwork due immediately, no luggage, no carry-on, all necessary travel gear to be provided upon arrival, including down to your toothbrushes.
Not even your badge, only passport, as intl. Police monitor designators and patches/uniforms provided.
American police will report to Ret. Col. U.N. Police Chief and former Port Authority Police Superintendent Michael A. Fedorko, Liaison to the Krasnodar Krai Police observers contingency, the special unit formed with a grant from the olympic committee to assist the city in which Sochi is located.
Absolutely no political emblems, pins, paraphernalia, or other accoutrement will be worn or visible, no outwardly visible tattoos, no make-up, or jewelry.
Russian laws are in effect and both the olympic athletic commissions and police monitor observers have been advised that no outward symbols or appearance of alternative lifestyle or political messages will be tolerated under penalty of respective local laws.
The U.N designated special missions website links to an olympic committee bulletin announcing this over a year ago, it's dated oct. 2012.
That's where the money seems to have come from and details updated to include the itinerary furnished to the police and transportation contractors like dyncorp, that are supplying other logistical support to handle emergencies for v.i.p's and athletes and their families.
Chicago, Washington D.C., and NYPD apparently staging their groups at JFK, to Rome, on to Volgograd, then an 18 hour train ride to Krasnodar before finally making their way to accommodations in the olympic village.
A total of 37 hours travel time.
There will be NO DAYS OFF allowed as the entire duration of the olympic games and related events will be considered on-duty.
Maybe that's why people were turning it down.

Swat is one of the only legit testing units around. Very good chance of making it if you work hard at at it. Shoot shoot and workout. Points for everything.
The lt is ego maniac and on a power trip. He single handedly destroyed the unit. Hence all the openings. The don't do anything anymore except safe passage all day. There is a reason there are so many openings. Then change your schedule daily and there is no set work times.

A few of us that did MFF were passed over for not doing the Annual Fitness Test last fall...
They referred us to the original MFF order, and it says it was up to each officer to maintain certification.
I just assumed since we weren't called for anything all last year that it was over.
They should have kept everyone on notice that the on-call status was still active.

One of our Lieutenants who has done a few Police missions overseas heard about this mission as soon as sochi was chosen.
They turned him down, said Chicago only. Pretty pissed.
A buddy of mine with State said they weren't asked either, so probably a Chicago/Washington/White House connection.

Hey the "5 year" wonder back guys .....to the guy who said I need to get 200 arrests .....your probably right bossman but it pissed me off when I know it's people with 5 to 30 arrests on tact and saturation because their good looking or their somebodies drinking buddy.....and to the guy who said it's none of my business about what clout someone has....it actually is buddy because last time I checked nepotism was not allowed on the department .....and yes I don't smile much and I don't go outta my way to make friends....I'm too busy trying to get paid and have something with a nice frame in my bedroom....so if that makes me a stroke so be it....I'm actually a pretty cool dude but all the real STROKES don't take the time to try to get to know me....I've made a few friends on the job in my 5 years and that's why I said I will have my revenge because I'm gonna study my but off to at least make Lt. Whether that's 5 or 25 years from now and then me and my boys will be good! That's my revenge and if they make it and I don't vice versa...well I'm getting off at 0600 and I got somebody waiting on me....she loves my hair gel
