Gun Shop Delay
There are a myriad of regulations governing businesses in Chicago, but if you want to sell a perfectly legal product, it shouldn't take six months to figure out where the store should be:
- A federal judge Tuesday granted the city the six months Mayor Rahm Emanuel said it needs to figure out where to allow gun shops in Chicago.
U.S. District Court Judge Edmond Chang said his decision balances the needs of the city to craft regulations with the public’s Second Amendment rights.
Pete Patterson, an attorney for gun rights advocates, told Chang the six-month time frame is too long. Patterson said the city acted far more quickly to a court ruling that overturned the statewide ban on carrying concealed weapons in Illinois.
And after 6 months, the city will drag it's feet on issuing store licenses, claiming paperwork errors, processing time, etc. We're actually hoping that no one will open a store in the city itself and deny Rahm the tax revenue he so desperately needs and instead companies open stores on the outskirts of town or even outside of Cook County to get the business of city residents. If we're spending hundreds or even a grand on a new gun, we aren't looking to give Rahm and Toni a single extra dime.

and this surprises you???
Illinois Democrats don't like being told what to do by judges. Our beloved mayor will throw up every road block he can to stall good decent law abiding citizens the right to arm and defend themselves against the Thugs roaming our city.
Are you trying to say that stores selling firearms don't already operate just outside the borders of Cook Co., or within an hours driving distance of the City?
Much cheaper to get stuff online.
You think the bottle water tax, cigarette tax is something. Their salivating heavily if not spent the money in their heads already on some bullshit "fooh da victims of gun violence" program or memorial park . Fook crook county and their momma too!
He needs six months to try and put a gun store somewhere in between a red light camera, speed camera, not near a park, school, or bar (good luck with that), not in a crime-ridden neighborhood, not too close to a bike lane, not near a new basketball arena, nowhere near a public building, and not near his house.
The Mayor and company know in their hearts that concealed carry will lower the crime rate, just like everywhere else. A smart man would be doing everything in his power to usher this in.
It is tough to figure out a politicians real motivation, but I am guessing the "right" guy has to be making the money on it.
Vanecko needs time to purchase a dealers license.
40's and nines on W 63rd st. I can see it now

You still have to process any gun purchase through a licensed dealer and fill out the federal paperwork.
(evil snicker) Heh-heh-heh. Wanna see Tiny Dancer blow his Tutu?...hell yeah, who doesn't ;-)
Some law-abiding and über clean Chicago resident & NRA member whose above reproach, like say a retired cop, should apply for a Class 3 FFL (aka; Dealer License) ...wait... here it comes... to be operated out of their home! [note (a)]
BOOM!...there goes Tiny's Tutu.
Not to mention McStreetlightassassin going apoplectic when that ATF license application crosses his desk (plus the binge he'll go on (is there enough Booze in Chicago?). Naturally it will be denied. And that as they say, is when the fun starts.
LAWSUIT!...filed by said denied applicant with NRA and others backing (Second Amendment Foundation) as in McDonald v Chicago in Federal Court naming Tiny Dancer and McJersey as defendants for denial of Civil Rights, i.e: To operate a legal business dealing in legal products. Equal protection of the law -- operating an FFL out of home is legal in IL. And the 'right to earn a living' -- argued and established for college football players for NFL Draft (and iirc for the pos Michael Vick to 'work' again).
Granted it won't be easy. The applicant and his residence has to meet all new requirements, like zoning, but there just may be a couple things missed, 'loopholes', by the city council where it would work [note (b)].
The reactions of Flaming Tutu and McDrunk would be priceless and that of chi's lapdog leftist media too. It'd be a feeding frenzy by those fucking lunatics.
_________
note (a): If all zoning and other requirements of the new city law(s) are met the city HAS to issue a business license or its discrimination, and otherwise 9.5 has to outlaw all businesses from operating from a residence like accountants, hair dressers, and day care.
note (b): Hundreds of FFLs in IL operate out of their homes now -- safely and legally. There's about three within five-seven minutes of my house who do FFL Transfers & Background checks for on-line gun sales
Nice judgment, but forget about opening up a gun store in Chicago. Who wants to open up in Regulatory City?
Plus, anyone buying a gun, realizes the extra taxes that have to be spent. 10.25% is a LOT on a $750 Beretta or a $1300 Kimber.
The difference can get you a couple of boxes of ammo or a nice holster.
No need to build a gun store - cause no one is going to drive into the city to pay "extra" for the privilege.
Don't worry. The city has a location set for a Gun shop in an old industrial park near Archer and Cicero.
If you have an FFL, get a lawyer now. Set up a corporation and sue the crap out of Chicago for denying you a business in a timely manner. Free money.
o.t Anyone know a good place or website to get good range ammo ? Heard one local store at $17 a box, can someone find better ?
It takes times to figure out which politician's relatives will get the gun store licenses.
I don't care how many gun shops open in this city. If I want a new gun I WILL NOT buy it in Chicago. Shit, I rarely buy anything in Chicago as is. I shop in Dupage county where taxes are lower as much as possible.

Still need an FFL to deliver it to and fill out the 4473 and do the background check.
Do you want to drive out to the burbs several times due to BS waiting periods or have shops in the city???
Who gives a shit? If you wanna buy a gun go to the suburbs and give them the money. Piss on Chicago.
I wouldn't worry about this!
I remember when Daley didn't want a Casino in Chicago, in the early 1990's.
The casino companies basically said screw Chicago and they all ringed the city with casino boats! Aurora, Elgin, Joliet even Indiana [20 minute ride from downtown, over the Skyway Bridge]!
Then Casino companies started bus service and you can grab a bus at the local shopping mall, like Hall Plaza by Diversey and Cicero and take a ride to the Horse Shoe casino for free to members!
The same thing will happen with gun stores, the gun stores will ring the city and the suburbs will get all taxes that are paid on their products!
Chicago does NOT get one penny in taxes! ZERO! NADA! SHIT! For this broke ass city!
These Politicians and especially this Mayor is so freaking smart! NOT!
Economics 101, this Mayor failed!
But in east Dundee. fuck Chicago.
There was a great Tribune article posted online by the Illinois State Rifle Association which recounted the days when all of the major department stores in the Loop, including Marshall Fields, Sears, and many others, all stocked firearms and advertised the sale of rifles and pistols. The article featured full page ads from the late Sixties. Sears had rifles endorsed by Ted Williams.
Remember, the buck(s) stops with the
Lord High Mayor Rham Emanuel, in his
pockets.
The first gun store should be on the corner of Irving and Hermitage so asshole ballerina sees it every time his bodyguard turns that corner to take him home.
Then they should have "Rahm's Weekly Specials" posters in the window. A discount for the gun designated Rahm"s Choice. Send out "Rahm's Picks" sales flyers with 10% off coupons.
A clever marketing guy could make something out of that. Sort of like the Heart Attack Grill giant double bacon cheeseburgers. "Rahm's Concealed Carry Special"

Don't you still have to have stuff sent to someone with an FFL and pick it up from the shop in person anyway? They don't just ship guns to your house like Amazon, do they?
Probably just another Judge who gets Greased by the Chicago Demo-corrupto Machine. What wi the next delay be, and how much of Middle - Class Taxpayer Dollars will be spent for the next stalling maneuver ?
Rahm needs the time to figure out who's relative gets to own the stores.
Put it on the ground floor of ITT building, 35th and State St. Years ago I recall when there was a gun shop of sort on 11th St. between State and Wabash.......
And, of course they will not be allowed 'near a school', said the mayor.
Why? Does the mere presence of a gun inside a building constitute a threat of some sort? It's not like an unattended kid is going to be allowed inside. It's not like it will be a lunch destination for the school kids. It's not like it matters one little bit that the gun store is fifty feet from the school or five hundred feet from the school.
Fifty years ago, it seems that Marshal Field had the best gun shop in the state... Right there on State Street, that great street, with other big name department stores sell ing guns nearby. I wanna buy a gun on State Street!
They'll let you open one. On a barge in the middle of Lake Calumet.
It sounds like Cook Co. and/or Chicago does not have a free economy, or business freedom. No wonder the place is going broke. How many citizens are unhappy living there?
I like the drive out to Dundee.
Nice folks out there and far less sales tax.
Yup! Ever since the Cook County tax went through ($25) , I go out of the county ...
Rahm is a complete asshole.
Is this delay for the children???
I foresee Vanecko & Sons gun stores and they'll be insured by John Daley's insurance agency!
Megasports is close to a deal with the owners of the Evergreen Plaza for a gun shop there. Will be as big as their store in Plainfield.
In time this will come about. It might take a few more lawsuits to overturn the high tax that the city plans on charging on each gun/ammo purchase. But, what will be interesting is if someone is able to open a gun shop in Lawndale . Now that would be worth the wait,. I can see a large gun store and shooting range right on Roosevelt and Pulaski. Why not? Don't you think there are law abiding citizens living on the west side? People who are tired of crime and want to defend themselves? I do. It will come in time despite what the liberals say and want.

Correct you must have the weapon shipped to a FFL holder and pay that person a few. Federal law. Unless you find a private citizen who will ship the gun to you directly. But he is shipping across state lines and that is illegal.
I think the Mag mile needs a few gun shops.
Gunbroker.com has lots f new and used stuff online from dealers and individuals. Ammo comes right to the house, but firearms have to go through an ffl. But they even have a list of ffl dealers you can search, sorted by your zip code, with prices for services. My ffl is a retired marine that works out of his house and charges $25 to conduct a transfer for me.
Gunbot.net reference online ammo, listed by caliber, then price and retailer selling it for that price.
Who in their right mind would consider opening a gun shop in the City.
The gun maker' would have to give the store a deep discount to match the burb'.
Buy shit in this shit hole city that Daley made it into.
An only a Grape soda pop stand can have a positive cash flow here.
Wait till Rham the rat and city scoundrels decide on the appropriate tax to charge that will put a end to any city gun shops
Megasports is close to a deal with the owners of the Evergreen Plaza for a gun shop there. Will be as big as their store in Plainfield.
Make sure you take your duty rig and all your nice new toys, so that everyone can see who you are.
