Bourbon Street Off Limits

Pam "the Troll" Zekman was at it again and managed to get some fish in the barrel she was shooting at:
  • Disciplinary action has been taken against two Chicago police officers accused of staying too long for lunch at a popular Merrionette Park bar and restaurant late last month watching the Bears game.

A large group of on-duty officers had gathered Sunday, Dec. 29 at 115 Bourbon Street, 3359 W. 115th St., in the south suburb, for lunch and watched the game while they ate, according to [...,] a spokesman for the Chicago Police Department.

Most of them left after about an hour, but two tactical officers stayed longer, in violation of department policy....
A Reprimand or two has already been handed out. Pam gets to pretend she's still relevant. Expect the Inspection Division to be hanging around Merrionette Park for the next football season. You've been warned.

I don't understand this....police walk into an establishment, sit there for hours at a time and citizens aren't expected to notice. Gee I guess they think everyone's stupid. Discretion????????? Naw...who needs it.

C'mon! For watching a football game too long? What's next, a story about how male cops look at attractive women? Going thru a yellow light to get to a lunch location? Shopping at Walgreen's? Getting a 10% discount? So many things to report on, how about reporting on dangerous offenders being given parole time and time again? Pam, you are our only hope...nevermind.

Pam you fucking useless Troll. All the scandals graft and corruption going on around you and you have the audacity to find a few coppers on extended lunch and you call that Investigative Reporting. You should be fired for how lame that was. Follow a part time aldermwoman who hires half her family out of her slush money and pays for expensive cars and dinners from discretionary funds paid for by citizens (not even from her ward, most of her citizens don't pay a dime in taxes) Channel 2 are you so desperate that this is big news from your crack whore, I mean crack reporter. Aren't you embarrassed that you got this story from someone complaining. Wow, impressive investigative reporting dumbass. Channel 2 news staff, do you take only a 30 minute lunch? You owe the coppers an apology for trying to discredit the force with a few cops overstaying a lunch. How dare you bring up crime rates and murders and your fluff piece sucked as bad as you do. Channel 2 fire this worn out old rag she's fucking up my TV screen.

WARNING!

The security staff and some of the patrons of Bourbon Street are very anti police. Unless it's for a benefit, my family and I will not go there. We should know by now that Bourbon Street has gotten multiple officers in trouble, some even terminated. It doesn't help that some of us have a big mouth and share info such as our rules and regulations with others either. If a place or a reporter screws us more than once maybe it's a clue. I understand that it's not the fault of the business and maybe the officers stayed a bit longer than allowed. But be warned. Yes it can happen anywhere at anytime but that spot in particular is bad news in my opinion.

I seriously cannot believe that so some of you are complaining that discipline was given out to police officers who are being paid to work but spend three hours watching a game instead. You are probably the same officers who spend midnight shifts sleeping instead of actually doing work. You are paid to do a job. Not doing so is basically equivalent to stealing from your employer. I am sure the response will be "look at the bosses, judges, etc who do the same." Well they're wrong and should be punished to. We should not all operate at the lowest common denominator.

First of all, who cares about CBS because I know I don't watch them.

Second, wake up and stop being such lemmings - get creative and find some other places to eat, so you don't get burned. The new places will be happy you are patronizing them AND showing a police presence.

Third, with ALL the crime, political corruption and bureaucratic waste of the taxpayers' money, this story does not interest me. At all!!

How come Quinn is not an investigative target? What about Rahm and his staff? All innocent do-gooders and great public servants? I think not.

And lastly, what about your beloved, McCarthy? Is he such the role-model for the 21st century police superintendent? AND as someone else mentioned - what about the Exempts???

If I was on an investigative team, I would be hunting the big game - not some small fish (who sadly are so easy to net).

We are our own worst enemies. How about people use a little common fucking sense. We all want to watch the games, but you have to be smart about it. It wasn't worth all of this. Now having said that, Pam Zeckman is not only pathetic as a human being, but calling her pathetic as a "reporter" would be a huge step up for her. I have a few friends who work in different media outlets. They have informed me repeatedly that she is looked at as a complete joke. The big goal for aspiring media whores is to be the anchor on a news program. She is not qualified to do that so she tries to pretend she's important by doing these bullshit stories that her colleagues laugh about. Trust me Pam, they are laughing at you. For as much as you hate police officers, at least at the end of our careers we can say we made a difference. All you have made is a perfect butt for people's jokes and ridicule. Well done.

And I see Savini has hired Terry Ekyls (sp) to represent him. I wonder how many police brutality fluff pieces that will cost him. Of course just before Terry has a case up for trial that was Dave can infect the jury pool and turn public opinion against the department.

Zeckman is a toad and a police hater. Wasn't to long ago when she was knocking on retired ISP guys doors saying that they were getting to good of a pension. The preface of her story was "Retire in your 50's with a six figure pension for a special group of state employees." Found it interesting she did her story when Springfield was trying to garner support for pension reform.
She hates the ISP because her ex-husband was the former Director.

God forbid she go find the corrupt politicians that are robbing the state blind on a daily basis. How bout the ones getting a pension and free healthcare after serving one term, or a former Madigan employee getting a six figure pension when the most she made with the state was $38,000? She was able to buy back in to the state pension system due to a loophole law Madigan passed.

Nothing to see there right Pam?.

We can bitch and moan about this story but clearly the coppers, and their supervisors, were ignoring their duty at some point. And some of the staff at that shithole are notoriously anti-police. Probably because of stupidity like this. You can go in there at anytime of the day and find at least 5 cars from different units sitting there for FAR longer than they should be.

It is a very different world being a police officer outside of Chicago. A friend took a leave from CPD and got hired on Naperville PD. He is a boy scout, absolutely a square cut straight arrow guy, Even so, Naperville was hesitant to hire him because of his time on CPD. We have a very bad reputation in the police world in the suburbs and elsewhere.

Anyway he was at work one day and got called in to the station by his sergeant, He was verbally counseled and a notation went into his personnel file.

Why you ask? He turned a corner without using his turn signals, in the marked squad car. A citizen called and made the complaint, refusing to give his name. The sergeant took the complaint anonymously. The officer was verbally reprimanded.

So when you go "Come on, for watching a football game too long?" You would get suspended or worse on another department. Especially "...a large group of on duty officers."

I'm not saying it should be that way here but look at the shit people get away with here. We all have stories. So they can thank their lucky stars they didn't get worse. Let's see, dereliction of duty, failure to perform a police function, congregating, theft of time. And were any of them consuming alcohol?

It is different elsewhere. Much different. And the guy who got hired by Naperville? He quit and came back to CPD.

However, a teen got raped again due to judges not doing there job, gang member becomes top office official in crooked county, news anchor/personal gets DUI again, government cell phones being given for free in the ghetto and no one is being held responsible, law firms give large amounts of contributions to judges and other political crooneys...the list goes on and on of real news stories that is worth reporting...i'm sure PAM u can find a camera crew somewhere in your sock drawer and report real news...oh yeah I forget not interested right its to hard....so lest bash on the police. And yeah to report the reason why so many shootings are happening on the south side or west side, there is a huge group (shhh: here it comes, black community groups) whom are not taking care of there kids and being parents is why many join gangs and commit violent crimes....so PAM get your notebook and pad and pen/pencil and go find some real news cause pointing out a few officers taking a little bit more extra time for there lunches is not the real problem, its a large population of a controversial diversity group issues that are the PROBLEM!!!! its called a large amount of black on black crime thats the problem...

Screw that old beat up looking hag. And screw the city too. It is ironic that I tried to take off (to enjoy game with family and friends) using my comp time I earned working overtime for this shit hole and merit hack bosses. My time was denied by a boss that took off herself that day the two days before and the day after. Meanwhile since I was at working answering jobs not seeing a minute of the game. Some fools that didn't take off sat and watched the game. They deserve what ever happens to them jackasses. But the bigger question is if I was denied for manpower and these guys are able to sit around not being used or accounted for how can manpower be a reason for the department to deny an officer time off when the department itself can't account for the bodies at work. And bosses that are denying people off can take off anyways. They have no comp time to use. So they just aren't coming to work. That's the story SeeBS political hack reporter whore! rant over!

What's the matter with the kids on the job today? What, they can't make friends with some fireman or find a back room in a store or restaurant somewhere? I always preferred to listening to the game called on the radio and finding a parking place at my favorite red light. I would get people stopping by thanking me for trying to catch people running the red light. All the while I'm listening to the game.

So the old timer makes good will and is thanked while the kids get on TV. Live and learn children.

Gotta love those "rules" we all abide by! Don't forget though- there's rules for US, then there are rules for YOU! Where is rahm having lunch today?? How long does he spend eating and socializing??? Where are our lackluster 50- count 'em 50, aldermen each making six figures on their part time position , eating lunch today?? How long will they be relaxing and enjoying their meals? Anybody got the stop-watch or the camera running on any of these fools? By the looks of our streets, rahm was "out-to-lunch" the whole time during last week's snow mania. But the cops doing OT on their lunch- yeah that's the real problem? Do these clowns (investigators) even realize that a good portion of officers never actually get a chance to take a lunch, and that is time that we are not paid for? There's been times we all didn't get a lunch break, and have the right to be compensated back our time for it but never drop the slip. You'll never hear the bosses or anyone complaining about that.

Use some common sense, we all watch the games but do it in a way that's not so fucking obvious. Maybe eat and watch a quarter at bourbon, then skip the 2nd quarter and watch the 3rd quarter somewhere else. Or here's an idea since they WERE tact guys, grab a one bagger at 1145am like you do so well and let it take you 3 hours to process it in the tact office and watch the fucking game in there. Smart coppers know how to do it

I'll tell the Zekman story again. In the early 70's Zekman worked for a Chicago newspaper and was working undercover in a northside collection agency, trying to find abuses by the agency. She was caught planting illegal eavesdropping devices in the office and admitted to it when confronted. A/6 detectives were prepared to arrest Zekman when States Atty. Bernard Carey refused to approve any charges and the case went away.

Yes, absolutely the officers should not have been there that long but let's all admit we(including all citizens) have bent a rule for a special occasion. it is not the end of the world and i am certain if they had heard any "hot calls" or heard any "assist calls" they would have left. either way allow this to be a reminder for the rest.

Aldermen & Gang Bangers carry guns and they didn't have to go to school to learn how to use a deadly weapon. Contract negotiations are commencing. The Lord Mayor wants to reduce retirees pension benefits. What a great idea to keep the public on your side by enjoying a lunch in a tavern for an hour and half. How about an investigative report on how SUV's created the pot holes , or so mayor rahm said it was so and raised price of city stickers ... Remember rahm , you would not let the public see your study but nonetheless u blamed and raised fees on all SUV owners... But wait just recently the weather, fluctuations in freezing and warming trends caused the pot holes to appear everywhere , causing a 24-7 pothole fiasco . So how about it Pam , investigate this story and demand a refund for SUV owners!!!! That''s some good in depth reporting Pam , how about why the pensions are not being funded and who is to blame.... Too much trouble to dig or are the real stories off limits for such an experienced reporter?

I really like that statment. Succinct, spot on and to the point.

Years ago before I retired I was sitting in a diner off duty around Lakeview/North Center. Probably around 7pm or so. Maybe a bit later. Slowly more and more "tactical", or whatever the unit was called that week, officers started showing up. Had to be at least 6 cars parked outside. Some badly parked I may add.

When I left two hours later, I ordered fried chicken and Greek diners and fried chicken means 45 cooking times, guess who was still there. Guess? No, I'm not talking about the 75 year old waitress with the Lucille Ball voice.

I'd guess that "dinner" they were having and the time involved was a regular thing. Now if I'm sitting there getting annoyed how the hell do you expect some citizens not to be pissed off.

What did the great Pogo say?

"We have met the enemy and he is us."

Why in God's name would you require personals or lunch? Also, "work" for 24 hours. Good one buddy.

Does anyone else remember Pam Zekman's report from about 35 years ago called, "Killing Crime on Paper".

She had some integrity back then.

1/15/2014 07:15:00 PM

Early to mid 1980's she did a report on beat cars not being manned. Beat cars sitting idle in the parking lot. Like now.

In response the City re-drew all the beats, that was the last time beat boundaries citywide got changed,

The City made fewer beats but they were larger. The City then declared all beats manned. Like what they did with budgeted manpower. Rahm cut the budgeted number of officers and declared the department fully staffed. Now you see it and now you don't, abra cadabre hocus pocus now which shell is hiding the peanut?

Hey dumbfuck. The letter was written and Mikey just never signed it or sent it. Simple as that. He never refused to send it, nor was Mikey advised NOT to send it. He just didn't follow through.

But since you are asking tough questions, try asking the Angelo team how Dean could work a college teaching job for years but not work a in callback or some other desk job? Our pension is broke, and Dean was collecting a disability pension for years WHILE WORKING.
############
############
Hey dumb fuck since your acting like an idiot why is there need to ask Dean about working at a college, YOUR UNION was able to secure the ability to have disabled officers to work with no restrictions on how much they can make on pension and the department determines where an officer works! no stop your crying like a fucking bitch and go get your shine box.

Lots of cops get a discount. Appreciated but not required. A lot don't tip properly. It should be at least 20% before the discount. My guess is staff at bourbon got sick of the officers hogging a table for 2-3 hours on a money day ( game time) without drinking and tipped like crap. These guys probably cost the establishment and the waitress money. Think about all the parking spots the cars took. I always park illegally, no hydrants, no bus stops, to leave spots for paying public. A little consideration goes a long way. I don't blame whoever dropped the dime one bit.

The FOP big three for president are Angelo, Dougherty, and McDonagh.

Angelo has been scamming the disability pension for a decade while working a full time job. He attended a grand total of six FOP meetings during that time.

Dougherty seems to have the experience and knowledge to run our union and has already got the ship back on course in less than a month.

McDonagh is a nice guy. That's about all anyone can say about him.

Who do I want to trust my future to? The choice seems pretty obvious.

1/15/2014 07:19:00 AM

Absolutely. That was extreme. I don't want to hear anything about how busy your district is ever again. Can't be too busy if there are 3 hours open to watch TV in a public establishment. Poor judgment.

Town Hall Meeting

The FOP is hosting a Town Hall Meeting to discuss legislative issues that directly affect Police Officers.

Guest speakers will include State Senator Bill Cunningham and State Representative Fran Hurley.

Please join us on Tuesday, January 21, 2014 at 7:30 pm at Chicago High School for Agricultural Science located at 3857 West 111th Street, Chicago, Illinois.

@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@

Dougherty and his new FOP minions act like this is something new and fresh for the FOP.
And, yes it is for the FOP to sponser (meaning to provide coffee and snaks)

Cunningham and Hurley have been doing these twon hall meetings regarding first responders and pensions for the past 1.5 years!

Don't fall for Dougherty's BS

Ask the hard questions.
