St. Baldrick's Thank You
From one of the organizers:
- St. Baldrick's 2014 is in the books and what a chapter we had this
year! We combined efforts with CFD for the first time and both
departments stepped up to the plate. The final figures won't be in for
about two weeks, after all of the cash and checks turned in at the event
get counted, however we stand at over $108,000 so far and should close
out at about $120,000, thank you to everyone who made our event so
successful.
The biggest news of the year was the fact that Chicago First Responder events, in just seven years have raised over $1,000,000 to help fund research to find a cure for this terrible disease. A ceremonial check was presented to Heather Kash from St. Baldrick's along with Adam Sanchez, son of Brenda Valadez, and a cancer survivor who has taken on his brain tumor with more strength than many of us could even imagine. On behalf of all of you that have helped over the years it was an honor to meet Brenda and Alex and to be a part of the presentation. There is no way to have reached this milestone without the help of each participant, volunteer, and donor over the years so to all of you, THANK YOU!
It's impossible to list everyone that helped us get to this point, but I would be remiss if I didn't thank Anne Zamzow and Bill Murphy and their respective crews for all they do at the 022 and 025 events, and Rory Ohse who started the CFD events and Tom Murphy who picked up the banner this year for CFD. And thank you SCC for helping with getting the word out every year.
Until we find a cure,
Bill O'Reilly

nice job.
too bad the political apparatus run by the big pharma's are working even harder to devalue our contributions and hard work.
there's no free trade in the pharma industry.
re-importation of the same but cheaper drugs is banned here.
medicare is banned from the ability to negotiate drug prices/
the pharma's have a nice little monopoly going here.
obamacare is one massive subsidy for the drug companies and that enables the campaign donation circle jerk to ensure no new competition enters the game.
that money would go a lot further if there was in fact a free market instead of this bullshit.
Great job by all who volunteered and participated in person or with a check.
PLEASE keep this post on topic on behalf of all those kids afflicted with this terrible disease.
God Bless all our first responders who aided this cause and SCC who helped, 'put out the all-call.'
I have regrow this perfect head of hair again.....but it was worth it.
i did it great cause and great cpd ,
Thanks for everything you do, guys!
I was fortunate to still have hair and to be able to attend the event again run for the south side by Murph. It was another great job, even if he thought the turnout was low.
I am thankful that I am still able to do the very little that I can do and I am thankful for the Murph & the crew in 22 that put this on.
Most of all - Prayers are with Eddie B and his daughter Emily B who got the horrible news that day. God bless you!
Thumbs up to all!!
Please keep 022's honored child Emily B and her family in your prayers as she faces the next battle in her war with this monster.
Thanks to the guys/gals in 25 for the great showmanship and cordial welcome to everyone. Was a good thing to get rid of my woolly mop of hair for this cause. Hope the kids/adults enjoyed the dancing dog too.
108 to 120 thousand. Once again 025 leads the way with over 76 thousand with more to come. The other locations need to pick up the pace.
Please Pray for Emily B as she is facing this devil called cancer once again! Be Strong Angel.
