More "Chiraq" References

  • During the first two weeks of nice temperatures in Chicago this year--which included Easter weekend--the city was beset with some 100 shootings with nearly a dozen dead. This intense violence has earned the Windy City a brand new nickname bestowed by its own citizens: "Chiraq."

Over Easter weekend, there were 45 separate shooting victims in Chicago, four of which died. The previous weekend saw 35 shootings in only 36 hours that resulted in several more deaths. There were even more shootings and deaths during the intervening days between the weekends, as well. All this violence has turned Chicago into a war zone.

  • Meanwhile, not a single American solider died in either Iraq or Afghanistan in March, and only 13 died in the previous two months. On the other hand, 76 Chicagoans have been murdered thus far in 2014.
When they put it that way, it sounds really bad - it's surprising Rahm and Garry still have jobs.

"...it's surprising Rahm and Garry still have jobs." -- SCC

...not to mention a City Council that busies itself banning plastic grocery bags in the middle of a bloodbath.

"Gordon Dancy is the person behind the high-density plastic grocery bag that is used today...Dancy was concerned about the destruction of trees to manufacture paper bags...he believed plastic bags would not only save money, but also be better for the environment.

[...so now Chicago takes a giant step backwards...]

"...the plastic grocery bag was introduced to the supermarket industry as an alternative to paper bags.

"Traditional plastic shopping bags are made from polyethylene, which is produced from the monomer ethylene. In the U.S, ethylene is primarily made of ethane, a waste by-product obtained from natural gas refining, meaning that domestically produced plastic bags are not made of oil."

It's not really surprising that Rahm still has a job. And he'll probably get re-elected. The rent-a-voters just vote as they're told, and the majority of remaining voters buy into the prevailing nonsense: 1. shitty gun laws are to blame 2. more programs are needed. Either that, or they really don't give a shit.

Chicago Tribune's website

If it seemed as though some scenes of CNN's documentary series "Chicagoland" were coordinated by Mayor Rahm Emanuel 's City Hall and the show's producers, that's because they were.

This whole Chiraq thing is stupid beyond belief. First for those who don't understand they are comparing American soldiers killed in Iraq/Afghanistan to the number of people killed/shot etc. in Chicago. There are 2 million people in Chicago! I believe the current number of deployed troops to astan is less than 50,000. Second some getto drug dealers or bangers offing each other over trivial bullshit does not compare to the devastation suicide bombers/death squads/kidnappings etc. had on Iraq during the dark period...think pre surge of our troops or even the news out of Baghdad now. Lastly Chicago doesn't even have a top ten violent crime rate in the United States. Quit with the dramatics!

(heh-heh-heh) Warner Todd Huston at Breitbart is not letting up on Chiraq. He has another Chiraq article, picked up from *See-BS Chi* || Bulletproof Subway Restaurant Sign of Chicago Violence

--->> 'As violence in Chicago continues to spin out of control, businesses are reacting in logical ways. A Subway sandwich shop with a bulletproof enclosure for employees, for instance, made the news in the Windy City, showing that violence is affecting everyone, not just gang members. ~~~ paragraph ~~~ With Chicago's long, harsh winter finally over, the gangbangers and drug dealers have come out of hibernation; shootings and murders are rising to uncontrollable numbers. But this is nothing new. Chicago has been a war zone for years, and businesses have had to take measures to protect their cash registers, as well as the lives of their employees.' <<---

Tiny Dancer and McCompStat have to be going ballistic, that there's journalists they can't control, and who do not buy their "Crime Is Down" bullshit. {And I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that Breitbart.com will not be getting a Christmas card from Flaming Tutu or McStreetlightAssasin. Newest research indicates that it's not cholesterol or bacon or dairy that breeds heart disease - NO, heart disease is caused by stress and sugar intake. Both are also named as the highest causes of cancers, diabetes and chronic arthritis.

First and foremost, learn how to deal with and control the stress factors in your lives. Crappy sleep, dealing with humanity's lowest forms of life, and all the other frustrations of this job can shorten your life, unless you find stress control techniques that work for you.

Build the new school in conjunction with Kennedy King College at 63rd and Halsted. Make this a higher education high tech corridor eligible for federal block grants. This will stimulate housing starts in this area, encourage private investment and spawn business growth. This will reverse the brain drain in this low income area. Economic revitalization, jobs, more jobs, a better educated workforce and proliferation of academics will put the south side back on the map. River north gets too much government money and attention. Bring some of that money home to the little peoples. Kennedy, King and Obama are three Democrat names which suggest powerful forces to improve the lives of residents through education degrees not some b.s. G.E.D. certificates offerings handed out to ex-cons. President Obama High would forever be associated with the city college basketball powerhouse Kennedy-King and its unique contribution to white collar professionals.

What do you mean murders are out of control? The increase is now and has been decreasing for a long time thanks to the strategies put into place. The percentage of just plain murders with no motive has been going down, the numbers indicate that 76% of the 92% or homicides looked at in the study would not have happened if only strong gun laws had been in place and those gun laws were obeyed and enforced. Which they were to wit not such as enforced and thusly the increase is not Mac's fault.

Home long is it going to take McCarthy to get this clear to people???

Gun laws are the thing! Got it?

Right now McCarthy is taking the heat off Rahm but if Prekwinkle decides to run you can be assured that Rahm will fire McCarthy and replace him with a F/ or M/1 superintendent. But if Prekwinkle doesn't run and there's nomserious challenger then McCarthy stays till after the election because Rahm is so prideful and egotistical that he will never let it look like he bowed to any pressure by anyone, in fact he would keep McCarthy just for spite of the people of the city.
