Cops Injured by Fleeing Vehicle
- A man fleeing the scene of a domestic disturbance hit two officers with a car early Wednesday morning in the East Garfield Park neighborhood.
A woman in the 3200 block of West Carroll Street called police about 2:20 a.m. to report a domestic disturbance, police said.
The woman asked to be walked out to her car. Police walked her out and found the man the woman had reported was inside a car.
He tried to flee and hit the officers, a fence and a building.
Nothing life threatening. A speedy recovery wished to all.
There was another incident involving a fleeing vehicle on the south side:
There was another incident involving a fleeing vehicle on the south side:
- Five people were hurt after a vehicle hit a bus stop Tuesday night after a police chase in the Roseland neighborhood.
About 8:40 p.m., a vehicle traveling north on Michigan Avenue near 103rd Street struck another vehicle, said Larry Langford, a Chicago Fire Department spokesman. The first vehicle then hit the bus stop.
The crash was the result of a chase that started when Calumet District officers tried to stop a vehicle for a traffic violation and the vehicle sped away, police said.
No life threatening injuries to the citizens, but the story seems to be the police were chasing it. The story says the driver fled a traffic stop, but no word on where it began that would indicate a pursuit. This asshole might have driven 50 feet around the corner and lost control.

There is great potential for danger or even death in either high speed or low speed vehicle chases. They should be avoided whenever possible.

The eighth grade literacy section unit, titled “Being an Advocate to Social Justice,” directs students to the website for the American Civil Liberties Union. It also includes a poem titled “Racism is Around Me Everywhere,” cartoons from the website LeftyCartoons.com, and it encourages discussion of Attorney General Eric Holder’s infamous “nation of cowards” quote.

Down 4 times already...
A wise man once told me 2 things many many many moons ago. 1. Unless it involves a fellow copper or a family member, don't be chasing anyone. 2. We have this thing and it's fucking golden. IT'S CALLED THE PHONETIC CODE. USE IT. Example 1 of a zillion. 2622- 2622 We have a call of loud music coming from the 2nd fl. from anonymous 1234 main street. 10-4. 2622-2622 we're here and we don't hear anything do you have a call back? Negative 22 it's from the anonymous. 10-4. 2622-2622 we checked around the front and the back and went up to the 35th floor and didn't hear any loud music, if you don't have anything else I'll guess we'll make it a 4p. ANYONE??????????????
Do these people's Ever Learn!?
please dont pursue for traffic. doesnt matter if its 50 feet or 5 miles. it is against policy to INITIATE a pursuit for just traffic. Which means if the coppers stopped it just for traffic violations and it takes off and the coppers went after it for ANY distance they are in violation of policy. The excuse of trying to identify the occupant of the car or trying to get a plate is no longer a valid excuse. How do I know??? Because I just took 11 days for this same exact thing. I originally was originally going to take 20 days. We went after the car for about 150 feet.... if that. As he took off he went into an intersection and was T-boned by a car causing the driver of the other vehicle to be injured. This crash injuring 6 people could be a little worse for the coppers. Im not hating, Im not passing judgement etc Im just telling my experience with the pursuit policy and how they are hammering people now per the fop legal representitive I had. It use to be if you violated it and somebody got hurt you might get a day... maybe 2 at most. After all, you were doing police work in good faith. Not anymore. The city is getting killed in lawsuits with injuries of police chases because of GPS, In car video and the ultra restrictive policy put into place. The policy is one of the problems, it sets the city up to get sued because its almost impossible to not violate it. Either way, I did my 11 days and now am battling the lawsuit in federal court for it. It happens, the lawsuit im not worried about at all.. That just comes with the territory and will get settled as most pursuit ones do, but 20 days down to 11 days for 150 feet and one injury which didnt even cause catastrophic or life changing injury?? Yeah, they mean business now. so please, if its just for traffic notify OEMC of the description and any information and do not chase it!!! Its a really really hard thing to do I know but its a must. Its not worth YOUR money
Just hope 1120AZ wasn't there to screw things up like usual. He has to be the biggest deficit to the 11th Dist it's officers and maybe to the Dept.
And again for anyone afraid to make a decision based on lawsuits or getting in trouble, hey if a vehicle is putting you, your officers or anyone in danger remember you do have your weapon to eliminate that threat don't be afraid to make a decision. Thank god officers or anyone did not get killed it could've ended real bad. A 2 plus ton vehicle is a deadly weapon when out of control!!!
ANOTHER Crash???
were these PPO's driving? Was another officer needing help???? You all better start thinking first before you go driving like idiots and hurt your partners and others.Number one rule, you get to the job safe no matter what. You go home safe, quit trying to be the Hero...
We're the victims standing in one of those French bus shelters? You can't sit on the benches but they should be able to withstand a crash of a car fleeing police.
Domestic incident in 017, SWAT called out to make entry. Incident resolved with no injuries.

Are you f-ing real? The Supt enters rooms now preceded by theme music? Now I've seen everything.
US weighs clemency for inmates jailed for 10 years
WASHINGTON (AP) — The Justice Department is encouraging nonviolent federal inmates who have behaved in prison, have no significant criminal history and have already served more than 10 years behind bars to apply for clemency, officials announced Wednesday.
The initiative is part of a broader Obama administration effort to trim the nation's prison population, ease sentencing disparities arising from drug possession crimes and scale back the use of strict punishments for drug offenders without a violent past. The goal is to create a larger pool of eligible prisoners the Justice Department can recommend to the president to consider for shorter sentences.

This is classic. Mcdrunky says that if schools have air conditioning there will be less shootings.

I was there too and there's some truth to the post. THe music did play but it was a few minutes before they walked in not as they walked in. Their timing was just off but why else would "Eye Of The Tiger" ever be qued up in the multi purpose room?
To 4/23 @ 1159 hrs. You need to READ the pursuit order kid. You CAN pursue for traffic... DUI if it necessitates the immediate need to stop the operator of said vehicle. You probably believe unmarked cars can't chase too right?? Nitwit
Big thank you to 1032r for asking for lunch, while 1122r was calling out their emergency.

Residency is over? Don't think so. This guy had a good case because he had family members along with a group of neighbors testify that he resided in Chicago.

You're out of your mind if you think this nullifies residency for everyone. It's simply a pronouncement that the City failed to prove up a residency case in one investigation.
Of course, one has to wonder WHY the Dept failed to send sworn witnesses (who repeatedly and consistently surveilled the Oak Lawn address) to testify. THERE's the real question in this case.

@@@@@@. Then I guess you saw this guy wasn't DUI or charged with DUI. Read the order. Do not initiate a traffic pirsuit if only for traffic. DUI fine, this was not DUI. Thx for the attempted excuse but this case was for traffic which u can't chase for or initiate a chase for... "Said vehicle". Ok wanna be lawyer, read up some more and stop being a hardo
