84 Recruits Graduate
Yay.
Now do the division:
Now do the division:
- 84 PPO's divided by 22 Districts divided by 3 watches.
Plus, once they finish their 12 weeks of field training, they're all getting shipped off to Operation Impact for foot patrol, so the actual net effect on District shortages will be.....zero.
84 is better than 0, but not for a while. Let's not pretend that this is any sort of answer in the short term - you know, like Rahm and McCarthy do.

Sheit !
That don't even keep pace with retirements.
Good luck rookies.
Correct me if Im wrong, but in March of 1990 the Academy ran 2 shifts of recruits and turned out a class of almost 300. And in 1991 Short Shanks promised he'd hire 600 between November and New Years, which he did Rham is saving his money for his pet projects. I predict a win by Preckwinkle She may be worse, but Rham is done on the south and west sides
And how many Chicago Police Officers are retiring this year and in particular cause of no contract and possibly a bad pension deal? Those new 84 Officers will have to work over-time.
WoW Howie Great way to justify a CAPT and all the inside folks with weekends off Hypee

Violence will Get WOrse Vote Rham and McJersey
so how many retired and left this week as these 84 come aboard.
<>>
Anybody know when's the next class will be for hiring?????
Rham is trying the save a broke city. Give him credit for doing an almost impossible job. The city, county and state are in dire straits, and about to go under financially. All because of the unholy pensions the evil unions are demanding.
smoke and mirrors......
And how many have retired so far this year?
in fall of 86, the academy was running 3 full 320 recruit classes, plus the Metros. classes were going from 0600-2000 every weekday. NYPD trains 24/7 at their academy.
that'll never happen here now. Cops cost money, AC for schools that need it a few months a year seems to be his priority
Shit you barely break even with the 40 sergeants and 40 detectives that were promoted from patrol at the same time the recruits graduated.
March of 1990, two shifts of recruits?
Still a bunch of rookies.
Once CPD starts processing applicants from the 2013 test do they still keep the people from the 2010 list that are still in the process now or no (do they say thanks but we will no longer be processing 2010 applicants)? I thought CPD can't hire from both lists? The first "pre-power" test from the 2013 test is this weekend.
84 is a drop in the bucket. You need 2,500 at minimum.
operation "call for a paper car"
Good luck rookies, this is one of the worst police agencies in this area. It's on par if not worse then the Cook County sheriff. The pensions are probably going to be gone by the the time you get ready to retire. Also the supervisors suck ass and the equipment also sucks...good luck getting a car. Maybe you rookies can hit the streets on bikes....if you guys are smart stick around a few years get a degree and go somewhere else....just sayin....2 years left for me
Meanwhile.....60 something of us that would've graduated a year and a half ago, are still in a pre-trial federal law suit. Having passed our tests and right before going into the academy... "magically" did not pass. 60 quality guys just waiting for the phone to ring instead of being able to help. And by quality, I mean actual quality not like the ones that have been coming out for years. So I'm told by current coppers.
evidence tech class soon?
Even when those 84 are clearing probation in a year or so from now, I'd say 82 of them will be headed to districts south of Madison.
Yes, and also a new Lieutenant promoted by merit who made a television commercial for Rahm.
good luck ppo's. protect yourselves from the bad guys on the streets and the bad guys in the police districts. you will see what i mean. be safe and be a listener.
SCC
you need to bring the Operation impact I to the spotlight
It was a failed and dismantled program in NYCand it is a major hazzard, here.
Those youngs officers are not prepared.
And within a few weeks, PPO's with 10 weeks on foot, are acting as PPOFTO's to new PPO's.
You should read the order.
2 PPO's in foot in dangerous neighborhoods.
And when and inexperienced PPO makes a split second decision to shoot, and the department needs a fall guy/gal..... They will terminate the PPO.
It is a powder keg . . . . Waiting to explode
Beemer
That Susanna Mendoza should run for mayor or bring back Miriam santos , time for a good , strong female Hispanic from a working class Chicago family to run for mayor.
Shit 84 recruits? Isn't that how many P.O.'s are assigned to the academy? Sort of ironic!
Don't forget to subtract the number that retired, quit, got fired or passed away while they were in the academy.
Not divided by 22 districts all PPO's are sent to 3 maybe 4 south side districts. Not were they are needed or should be spread out. What a joke it all is now show the public more officers but fail to tell them the tax payers won't be getting any of this new help on the North side were all the animals come to prey, to rape, rob, and steal.
Welcome to the club.
Some people like you because you are a cop.
Some hate you.
Some don't care.
You will be hearing from the haters most frequently. In person and on the news.
If you are smart you will not stick your neck out too far.
If at all.
Good luck.
Good luck to the newly minted PPO's who have a 3 out of 4 chance of getting a salty dog FTO and then spend another 12 months on a foot post forgetting everything they didn't learn from said salty dog. By the way...there are only openings in 003, 004 and 005. So, if you live north...gfy. Please don't be a know it all and keep the war stories to yourself.
Drip, splash, echo........ (small drop, big bucket.)
Does anyone know what the firemen got in their contract? It all seems so hushhush. No media attention at all.

Nope Susie a racist walled off her city hall office Hispanics only! Then again she can give gang banging punks like herbie pulgar awards like she did for city sticker design. Maybe her mentor ray frias could bring her into his shell.
84 newbies... where are we gonna get the cars??
I'm not the biggest fan of Rahm but I've not forgotten the real asshat who helped put the city in this mess: shortshanks himself, DICK Daley. Rahm is trying to clean up the mess and do with less.
If he had any balls Rahm would open the books and let everyone see the fiscal bullshit shortshanks committed.
If Rahm did that I'd respect him. But since he's part of the coverup he gets to eat the shit. In the meantime I hope Daley chokes on something.

I hope u are joking, because if not u r a douch.U have been drinking the Kool-Aid from the city. The unions have been putting in their 10% while the city has put in crap for the last 20 years.Jsut like social security if the gov would have just followed what they were suppose to do there would be no problem. Not to mention about 1 billion in tTIF funds which isn t counted towards the budget.
We have a total of 5 brand new ppos in 011. 4 on 3rd and 1 on 1st. We also have a bunch on the watches that are done with their cycles but not off probation. Then we have a bunch that just got off their status in the last month or two. We have so many people we are tripping over each other. Clearly all of these extra people have caused a huge plummet in crime too!
And yet the places where good citizens live don't have two man cars and can't even man the beats. Good system.

Yea maybe she can get the gang bangers to redesign the city logo....ha ha ha...she did such a great job with the ripoff city stickers...

They received a 40% raise over the next three years with them no longer needing to pay medical.

About the same. 84 or maybe more.
Meanwhile.....60 something of us that would've graduated a year and a half ago, are still in a pre-trial federal law suit. Having passed our tests and right before going into the academy... Wish you luck Unfortunately those trials take time. Hope you 60 took the last test.
I suffered thru that long winded ceremonony. Those idiots couldn't even start the damn thing on time. It was particularly horrible listening to TD and McStoopid up there as well as Al W. trying to get thru the oaths.
Rahm cut 2,000 officers from budget when he was elected now short 500-700 , not counting future retirements , future phony duty disability , deaths . If Chicago gets nod for democratic convention in 2016, look for 2500 hundred hired in late 2015 and early 2016 so city can work recruits for straight time .

Haven't even stepped foot in the Academy & you're touting
yourself as quality?
Talk about ego, your so called quality is yet to be determined.
Really... So the 60 of you who are waiting, that got bounced, are apparently magic Super Recruits who are so much better "quality" than everyone else...? Give me a break. You don't even have a position here and you already have an ego. Just what CPD needs... More jags with egos and attitude on them. Enjoy waiting for your federal lawsuit.

You have to be kidding.
First he cut 1200 from the budget, not 2,000.
You think he is going to hire 2,500 for a convention that lasts for like a week and then be stuck with those salaries. No, he's going to do what they did at NATO, have guys works 12 hr days and cancel DO's that week. Its only a short period of time and with it being the democratic convention, there will probably be federal help regarding the funds for po's.
That is, if we even land the convention.

Rahm decried the TIF accounts during the election. Now that he's found out he can use them as his own personal piggy bank and fling those coins in the street as his float passes by, he thinks they're a WONDERFUL idea and he isn't about to open the books. Ever.
