019 needs manpower badly! People with time on the job have been fleeing in large numbers and will again now with desirable districts to bid to. 019 has become a giant cluster fuck dealing with all the bars and drunken assholes on a daily basis. Then add Wrigley field with the drunks from the cubs games and it becomes a nightmare. With the merge the whole district has become one giant bar. There are close to 200 bars in the district. Theres also a lot of hospitals in 019 that you get stuck with BS on too. Cant blame people for leaving. Not fun.

019 is full of idiot micro-managing stupervisors! No incentive to do anything, when you are looking over your shoulder and worry about getting thrown under the bus for political reasons! Supervisors are out to jam up coppers rather then help out coppers! 1970 comes to mind, fucking idiot!
There's absolutely no help to be had on days in 019 when Uptown takes a shit and people have to respond to the various "Seven feet tall, 400 pounds, naked and off his meds and violent" calls...
If any white shirt were worth their salt, they'd be leaving a paper trail with the various state boards and licensing bodies to get these places closed for violating their charter...
It is NOT a Police function to respond to a call of unruly or even violent patients at these places.
They're supposed to have staff and security personnel on hand to deal with them.
Plus they're supposed to be TRAINED on how to restrain these unmedicated people.
Policemen are trained to HURT people who resist and fight back.
Fuck politically correct considerations.
And if a copper gets into a tangle, most supervisors will take on the role of "neutral observer" while the copper gets chewed on.
Kinda like the Inspectors of old who watched coppers fight with offenders then air-mail write ups for the rule infraction of the day to the officers unit of assignment.

It's PURE seniority bid to get to the district. You are in Mgt pool though. Not a bid to district. Bosses don't get to pick. 10 yr sgt should be good in alot of places. do your research.

The drive to the "new 019" is one reason for the mass exodus. Driving to Wrigley Field everyday (the station is down the street from it) is a royal pain in the ass!!! Had they left the station at Belmont and Western you wouldn't have seen so many moves. If you left 005 at 11pm you might be able to get to 016 faster than leaving 019. Especially if it is Friday or Saturday night. You have to be very careful driving to avoid the drunks.

quick question. What happens if the dept gets bids for all the good districts and not enough for say 007,005,etc. That would help the good districts, but lower the manpower at the bad ones.
Could this have something to do with the PPO's from classes 18 months ago being assigned. Maybe offer senior officers a chance at good districts and assign the new PPO's the districts that are left.

You passed the sgts. exam and interview? How can you grieve it if a management position is given to a person with less time. Thats the purpose of management spots,otherwise every assignment would be made by bids. Why do you think they have management 20% ,to put an old timer in a position he can bid for.

019 was a great place to work until the merge with 023 when everything east of Clark Street was picked up with Halsted(Boys Town), Wrigley Field(Drunks/Large crowds, parking nightmares)and the lakefront(Yuppies and Beefers)and Broadway(more bars to add to the mix.) The only time the old 019 was trouble was when the Cubs played night games or were lucky enough to make the playoffs.
Everything east of Clark, especially on the weekends is light trying to jam 1000lbs of shit into a 100lb bag.
Gosh dang 008 is busy. Shouldn't have bid here!

Maybe ur that dick of a sgt that nobody wants to help out? You've had 10 years to prove yourself as a sgt and try to earn or bid ur way into places and nobody is willing to vouch for you.... Kinda says something doesn't it?
it is in the new sgts contract. management moves for incumbent sgts 1st and then the new sgts will fill in the gaps from movements and the rest dealt as the dept decides.

019 isn't the "same" since the merge, no matter what you say. Fantastic bosses on the 1st Watch, but combination of Wrigleyville, Boystown, and Belmont/Sheffield at night can be difficult to deal with at times. But could be a lot worse I guess.

If you got time on the job it's not the place to be. Constant babysitting 1000's of druken kids. Breaking up bar brawls all night, sitting in hospitals with drunken non-sense, DUI accidents all over, shoplifters all day, Halsted St. BS, uptown shootings, etc. etc. Oh, Did I forget THE CUBS? The district is huge now and has a large population. One big pain in the ass! Many have left and will continue to.

It's this "I Deserve" attitude that is killing this Department.
Guess what numb-nuts, the DESERVE the spot when they have the highest seniority on that bid. It's called a Contract, look at it once and a while.
Since the merger of the 19th and 23rd districts, 019 is down about 155 officers. Rahm and McCarthy lied to the citizens of the 19th district about manpower and now it's coming back to bite them in the ass.
Bring back all the P.O.'s that are detailed out of 019. There is a beat car waiting for you on midnights.

More unbelievable news out of mass transit. There was a near fist fight over the party that is going to be catered. My cousin Hector brought the brochures there. Everything was agreed upon except for one side. Officer A wanted the relish plate and Officer B wanted the fruit plate. Near donnybrook. The extra side was $12.00 more. You couldn't reach into to your pockets for $12.00 more. Of course these are 2 guys that eat at the hotels for free everyday.

How about to help, look out for, take care of and teach a younger PO like a sergeant once did for me, especially in the busier districts. Oh yeah, and for the $28,000 more I made as a patrolmen.
Uh. If I were in Public Trans. I would start looking for a new home.
Why? With the new special order that came out starting the 6th period (pilot program) P.O.'s assigned to PTS will be able to extend their tour by 3 hours a day (12 hours per week)for straight time. And be assigned to the trains only, apparently supervised by the on coming watch.

Even though Leo is nuts, he is the real police and most importantly he won't hurt anybody.. His Xo Capt. Bubblehead is a stroke, and do not give him any money cause you will never see it again.. And that includes any money for any type of benefit because the person that it is supposedly benefitting will never see it either.. Most of the Lt.s., and Sgt.s are good people.. Lt. T.E. On third watch is really full of himself though. 1st watch scored a great Lt from the last class. Coppers there are great backing each other up..Overall great place to go.. Good luck..

In 019, it has nothing to do with the bars or the work load. Its all about the bosses and how certain misfits get taken care of routinely. Yep, many of us are tired of the bullshit, and getting out. See ya bitches.

One of the biggest problems in 019 is the micromanaging by numbers! The commander wants more contact cards and anov's, but totally disregards the traffic activities! Commander even went as far as telling a traffic car to stop writing traffic tickets! How stupid can he be! Its all about certain numbers and not about doing overall police work! Here is an idea for you Commander, if the copper is working, then leave him the hell alone, lest u wind up with zero activity! Explain that at your next cumfuck meeting with Mcstupid!

It's PURE seniority bid to get to the district. You are in Mgt pool though. Not a bid to district. Bosses don't get to pick. 10 yr sgt should be good in alot of places. do your research.

You're absolutely wrong. Know the difference between a bid order and a management order. This one is management only. The Sgt bid order will come out quarterly. So yes, a 3 year wonder sgt can get to a good district on a phone call. There's pros and cons to everything. Sometimes you open up a bid (in lets say 016) and all you get are old timers who are looking to retire. That's good for them but districts like 016 are changing thanks to the big police presence in districts like 025, 015, 011 and there is now a need for coppers and Sgts that still have some work left in them to protect the homefront.
Case in point, elderly lady around Hatlem and Northwest Highway hires a caretaker. He caretaker brings 4 mutts from 95/Wentworth to stay in the lady's house, drive her car eat her food and of course deal weed out in front. Problem taken care of thanks to some young coppers who still want to be the police.

You only think that because you've never worked anywhere else. 007 flat out sucks. You only think it's great if you're wet behind the ears. Let me give you some advice. Never bid to 3,5,6 or 7.
If all you hard chargers who think 019 is a bunch of whiners want to come here and work, c'mon over. We can use more hard chargers, and the good citizens, yes even yuppies, most are grateful for what you do, and will tell you so. They deserve protection from the MANY predators that come here from the South or West sides, you will see. Bring your own leg shackles, they don't hve any at the desk, no beat tags, and you will be written up for no beat tag. Also, you will be 99 every day, and getting into your share of fights.

The problem is they are not sending the new kids to 011 or 015. They are sending north siders to 003, 004 and 005. Makes no sense. Years ago if you lived north of Madison you went to 025, 015, 011 and 010. What they are doing now makes no sense. It would be like sending someone from Mt. Greenwood to 024. But, a bid is a bid so good luck to whoever wants to come to 025.

More unbelievable news out of mass transit. There was a near fist fight over the party that is going to be catered. My cousin Hector brought the brochures there. Everything was agreed upon except for one side. Officer A wanted the relish plate and Officer B wanted the fruit plate. Near donnybrook. The extra side was $12.00 more. You couldn't reach into to your pockets for $12.00 more. Of course these are 2 guys that eat at the hotels for free everyday.

While it's true that 025 has an unsavory reputation, we do not tolerate mutants with poor people skills. Especially 'veteran' officers that think they know it all but spent their whole carreer in 17 or 20. Those that do bid here and can't follow the program will be fucked with. Fair warning bitches!!!!

When they get some time they can bid out like everyone else. There are a bunch of good coppers in the Southside districts that wouldn't mind working closer to home also.

So just because a recruit has an apartment in 20 or 16 the department should assign them to 24 or 25.Give me a break n0body gave a shit about me and my classmates years ago when they sent us to the frontline and we had to learn fast.Nobody complained its called being at the bottom.Alot of northside districts have been quietly keeping ppo's for the last four years now they can't justify keeping them with the huge loss in manpower in the shitty districts.Good luck to all the gray hairs on the airport bid that's about the last unit left that's seniority based and not completely clout hack based.

Everything you hear about 019 is true nowadays. The same ones on medical all the time, the crying like girls if it's too busy, it's the busiest district in the city by far. Although you will have to do contact cards. Not sure I would have signed on for the CPD if after 6 months of training and a salary of $75,000 plus, that I would be expected to do contact cards plus maybe a few parkers. Dont the revenue people write parkers for like $30,000 a year.

People bitch and complain about SO many things that BLOWS my mind!!!! I'm a sworn officer and get assigned a crossing detail almost EVERYDAY and guess what? I do it with PRIDE!!!! I'd rather cross the babies than deal with other things I could possibly get while most of the district is down on "Safe Passage"......coughing while saying BS. Trust me I am NOT assigned the crossing detail as l luxury!!! It's considered a PUNISHMENT for me just like the hospital detail I was assigned to yet the ASS/DSS was unaware that I came to work prepared as I do ALWAYS to deal with the FUCKERY that's been thrown at me for years!!!! Deal with it, make the BEST out of FUCKERY and be HAPPY!!!
I did put my bid in for one of the two airports because a UNIT will beat a district always!!!!
