CFD Shortage, Too?

What kind of world do we live in where you can't even suspend paramedics?
  • Neighbor stated that CFD paramedics are so short he and others are working every other day and all disciplinary penalties are not being enforced until the end of the year.
Gee, it's almost like 8 people a day are getting shot or something.

" and all disciplinary penalties are not being enforced until the end of the year "

Local 2 should demand all penalties be enforced immediately. Maybe the FFs would like to at least spend that (unpaid) time off during the holidays season with family

F*ck the city, the savages, the supt and the mayor

Tired people make mistakes. And your supervisors in their offices will not defend you if you make one. I hope this is temporary, because come July and August, the heat & humidity kick everyone's butt.

What can paramedics get disciplined for? Sometimes they are forced to save those who do not deserve it. Give them a break. Hell give the city workers some breathing room. The uncertainty of my pension is affecting my job performance.

Just ask Rahm and his puppet running the Fire Department about manpower and they'll tell you CFD's got plenty of manpower. It's all about better utilization of all assets right guys?
That's pretty much the BS line Rahm n McFailure use about CPD.

All $$$$ being hoovered up by Rahm/Rauner/Donor class. No money for paramedics. Just lie about all this with the corporate media giving cover.

2 priorities this year:

1.) Elect Rauner

2.) Limit losses in congress.

Rahm quarterbacking both projects, fundraising from green energy crowd and Hollywood. Just like '06 when he won congress and '08 when they gave Obama record amounts of cash.

Severing penalties? That flies right in the face of why we discipline in the first place - to change bad behavior by closely tying punishment to conduct.

The CFD is stupider than the CPD...

The Mayor and the Superintendent, ignoring common sense and the people that actually do police fire fighting, allowed these departments to fall to unsafe levels. We simply don't have enough police officers to combat the rampant crime in some sections of the city. We do not have enough ambulances, or paramedics to man them, to answer calls for help. Both the Mayor and Superintendent should be replaced.

My buddy is an Ambulance Commander (the white shirt with the silver bar) he's working a minimum of 6 of his days off a month-and will for the foreseable future, clearing $1,500 after taxes each time. I teased him about being one of those guys on the front page of the paper and his response was "God, I hope so"

My neighbor is a Fire Captain, he's working at least 2 days a month extra.

I hope Rahm chokes on his "less is more" policy.

The Denocrats have had a plan to privatise the ambulance service for a while, look to Rham to contract out with privatye companies (big democrat donors) to "shore up" ambulance service for the poor taxpayers.

Not bad , to supervise a bunch of good people , eat , sleep , watch tv or work out .

I talked to some Paramedic Field Supervisor (or something like that) not long ago. He said if he picks up one extra shift it's like $1,600 take home. Granted that's a higher level supervisor (I think equal to CPD Commander) that's some sweet OT.

Hire more firefighters Let them work 8 hour shifts .
They will be more alert , less injuries , faster response.
It would be a win win for firefighters and citizens of Chicago .

Re: Rudolph GIULIANI

I suggest that you check with the NYPD first. We'd like to crucify that prick even more than David Dinkins.

The new mayor de Blasio is a flaming lib whose legacy may eventually be worse than Dinkins and Giuliani.

CFD is way to top heavy compared to CPD. They have 5X the amount of exempt members then CPD. And they are one third the size of CPD.

We have no "me too" clause. One of our wonderful FOP presidents either gave it away or negotiated it away quite a few years back.
