Tribune Actually Catches Lies

Crime is down!!! This time on the CTA. But get a load of this opening paragraph:
  • CTA officials on Wednesday credited new security cameras for starting 2014 with fewer robberies and thefts on its buses, trains and L platforms, a drop that also came as fewer riders took public transit during a bitter winter
You get that? Crime is down, but fewer riders. And just to drive home the point, here's paragraph two:
  • CTA president Forrest Claypool said that the agency had 55 fewer robberies and 114 fewer thefts on its bus and rail systems during the first three months of the year compared to the same period in 2013. The transit agency’s ridership numbers for January show that nearly 4 million fewer people rode the bus and L compared to January 2013. CTA officials said ridership numbers for February and March were unavailable.
55 fewer robberies, 114 fewer thefts, 4 MILLION fewer riders, just in the first month of the year.

ALERT THE PRESS!!!! It MUST be the cameras!

Then, if you bother to read past the headline and ridiculous opening paragraphs, the Tribune goes to town:
  • A June 2012 Tribune analysis of city crime data found that from 2009 to 2011 the number of CTA thefts had surged by 42 percent and robberies had jumped by 69 percent. That analysis was based on incidents reported to the city, but the actual numbers may be much higher because many victims do not report CTA-related crimes, officials have acknowledged.

A similar Tribune analysis of the city’s crime database Wednesday found more crimes than the CTA reported for the first three months of this year and last year.

From January to March 2013, the CTA reported 143 robberies while the Tribune analysis found 197. The CTA reported that number had dropped to 88 for the first three months of 2014, but the analysis of city crime data showed 112 robberies.

The same held true for thefts. The CTA reported thefts dropping from 491 in the first three months of 2013 to 377 during the same period this year. But the Tribune analysis of city crime data showed 535 thefts in the three-month period in 2013 dropping to 423 in 2014.

Overall, the city’s crime database listed 46 more thefts and 24 more robberies in 2014 than the CTA reported.

CTA spokesman Brian Steele said that the crimes logged by Chicago police officials on the city’s crime database are preliminary and those provided to the CTA from CPD have been vetted and investigated as final. He also said the CTA does not count crimes committed at bus stops because the agency considers those to happen “on the public right of way.” The Tribune analysis of the city’s crime database did include those crimes.
City employees lying about crime numbers??? Who wouldn't thought that could ever happen? And then holding a press conference with false numbers that are easily debunked by the Tribune? Who wouldn't have thought that the Tribune would even bother to check?

Open season on Rahm?

This brings up a serious question. Just how safe for yourself and your property is it to ride on the CTA. Would you advise tourist to Chicago to ride the CTA?

If the Executive Branches of this City, ie., the Mayor and Alderman, refuse to adhere to the pleas of its Taxpayers...by stopping the spending in all the wrong places....then its up to the Media to at least attempt to set the record straight and 'Lean ON' these fiscal malcontents and press them for accurate details.

I was listening to Dennis Miller on his national radio show yesterday morning. It airs on WIND 560 AM between 11 AM and 2 PM after the "Big John (Howell) and Amy (Jacobson)" program [6-11 AM].

In the final hour, it became obvious that both Mr. Miller and his numerous callers are well aware that the most politically corrupt major city in the nation also "cooks the books" on crime stats.

Dennis was bewildered as to why the electorate keeps voting in these despicable jagoffs. I share his sentiments and submit that the City of Chicago has the most stupid and ignorant voters in the entire U.S.A. with a minority being actual beneficiaries of "the Chicago Way".
Is it any wonder why Illinois leads the nation in losing population percentage?

I believe that Vladimir Putin would be a more accountable and respected mayor than Daley and Emanuel. This town is hopelessly rotten to the core.

Crime is down because all mass transit officers were told not to make arrests per the office of superintendent. Anovs only. Another strategy ?

The cta is not safe. There are many crimes not even reported. Cameras dont deter a robbery. Cta is a cesspool of a transit system. Some 3rd world countries actually have a better transit system than Chicago does.
avoid cta at all costs and ride to work on my electric bike instead

Scowling off into some ethereal distance and pointing at who gives a shameless shit, with a facial expression of one discovering they put salt in the morning coffee...

You don't have to carry a gun on the CTA, we have cameras. When the savages rob you and beat you down it will all be on film and we will catch them. Hopefully they won't hurt you too bad or kill you by pushing you down a flight of stairs. You can beg them not to hurt you that may work.

In the study of crime and crime prevention there is something called the "Crime Triangle", which includes victim, offender and location. If you eliminate any of the factors, you eliminate crime. So it is natural that if you have fewer passengers you will have less crime. The loss of millions of passengers in the first quarter is alarming. Consider that the brutal winter probably kept thousands of personal vehicles from starting, and ice covered streets actually discouraged people from using their own vehicles. Ridership should have been up due to the winter, but the fact that it was not is proof that the public realizes the CTA and Rahm are full of shit! I spent much of my police career assigned to the CTA and I can tell you that a camera never arrested an offender. Cameras are assets in an investigation, but by that time the victim may have already suffered a life changing injury as a result of the crime. When Rahm's kids ride the train to Lab School without heavily armed guards, then I'll believe the CTA is safe. Also if ridership is down by millions, how does Rahm justify spending millions on the Belmont stop? Do his contributors and inside contractors need work, so Rahm comes up with a major project?

"...a drop that also came as fewer riders took public transit during a bitter winter..."

"It's not the weather. It's whether you have character," said our tiny mayor, playing on words as he sped through red lights near "schools and parks" on his way to take away people's grocery bags and bring in French clowns on fifty-foot stilts in the midst of a vast war of self-extermination in his city...

As with Mayor Daley II, so too with Mayor Emanuel. Both are CLINICALLY INSANE.

"Imagine - if you can - not having a conscience, none at all, no feelings of guilt or remorse no matter what you do, no limiting sense of concern for the well-being of strangers, friends, or even family members. Imagine no struggles with shame, not a single one in your whole life, no matter what kind of selfish, lazy, harmful, or immoral action you had taken.

"And pretend that the concept of responsibility is unknown to you, except as a burden others seem to accept without question, like gullible fools.

"Now add to this strange fantasy the ability to conceal from other people that your psychological makeup is radically different from theirs. Since everyone simply assumes that conscience is universal among human beings, hiding the fact that you are conscience-free is nearly effortless.

"You are not held back from any of your desires by guilt or shame, and you are never confronted by others for your cold-bloodedness. The ice water in your veins is so bizarre, so completely outside of their personal experience, that they seldom even guess at your condition.

"In other words, you are completely free of internal restraints, and your unhampered liberty to do just as you please, with no pangs of conscience, is conveniently invisible to the world.

"You can do anything at all, and still your strange advantage over the majority of people, who are kept in line by their consciences will most likely remain undiscovered.

"How will you live your life?

5/08/2014 06:43:00 AM

===========================================

And, don't forget the legal concealed carry were required to be fingerprinted and sign, as written in to law...

"...[Beyond just the scope of applying for CCW] a waiver of the applicant's privacy and confidentiality rights and privileges under all federal and state laws, including those limiting access to juvenile court, criminal justice, psychological, or psychiatric records or records relating to any institutionalization of the applicant, and an affirmative request that a person having custody of any of these records provide it or information concerning it to the Department;"

In the unfortunate event you have to shoot shitbird, shitbird gets to avail himself of ALL of his "Rights & Privileges".

There you have it, our IL government making law to make the good the bad so the ugly keep them in power.

They are appealing to the lowest common denominator.

The Dolts

At this point, the people that don't get it NEVER will.

Hillary...she's going around the country saying our gun laws are out of control.

Who in their right mind would follow this woman's lead in protecting anything?

People have died as a result of her, management policies and oversight.

I can just hear her or one of her minions telling Amb. Stevens, "Don't worry. You have enough protection. You're in no danger. We have everything under control. If anything happens, help is minutes away."

But, at this point, what difference does it make? That was years ago, eh Rahm?

We'll it makes a big difference.

Essentially, the Benghazi compound had the same self-defense footprint that Hillary is telling people she wants to put here and look what that did for Amb. Christopher Stevens. Tyrone Woods, Sean Smith and Glen Doherty.

Hillary and Rahm have their armored SUV's that never come to a stop to complicate some nut job reaching out and touching them.

They have more then adequate protection to keep them safe walking in public.

In your time of need, save for your being fortunate enough to have an armed citizen or the CPD nearby and wiling to act, NOBODY is going to take care of you and your family like YOU and in this city you better be armed. The elites are.

And, that goes for if you're walking a block away from a school, are riding the CTA or are walking in Rahms neighborhood where citizens have been attacked.

I work for the CTA rail system. I can honestly say not a day goes by without a rider telling me that his/her pocket was picked or cell phone snatched. When I offer to notify the police, the rider responds that they have no time and will report it later. How many actually report it later? There is no way crime is down on CTA property!

I'm waiting for the cameras to catch some thuggies trying to rob an 80+ yr old Elderly citizen who's packing a concealed firearm (with a license of course). Grandma shoots and kills the little shits. And we get to watch the bleed out on the train's cameras.

Then next up in Court, grandma is asked why she was carrying concealed in a prohibited location. Her answer: "Because I couldn't walk more than a block and had no choice. And it's a good thing I did because otherwise I'd be beaten to a pulp and dead."

Jury nullification anyone? Can you honestly see ANY law-abiding juror actually NOT nullifying the charges? And after that, it's all over for thuggies on the CTA - everyone's gonna carry concealed...

We need to hold the thuggies (political or gang-bangers) responsible for their actions. Every time some law abiding person is attacked or injured as a result of being disarmed in a 'prohibited gun free zone', they need to be sued into oblivion for violating our civil rights.

Bangers need to be put in jail. Take ALL the money from the political criminals. Vote them out of office.

We need to start taking back our City, State, and Country. Enough is enough already. 50+ years of Dumbocratic rule has fucked us. Time to defuckalize things.

At least Daley managed to be side-splittingly ridiculous at times, with his weird pronouncements, his sweating and stammering and Porky-The-Pig babbling.

Emanuel is NEVER amusing. Just dangerous. Brain runs at the speed of his buddies' "high-frequency trading" computers. Very off-putting.

It is interesting to see him struggling to connect with normal people, though -- I liked the "Chicagoland" shot in which he bailed into his black tank with his face all screwed up like he'd just eaten a lemon. "Thank God I'm outta that press conference..."
