#6 Most Stressed

  • Bad weather and heavy traffic puts Chicago sixth on a list of most-stressed cities in the country.

After consulting experts at the American Psychological Association, CNNMoney ranked 55 of the country’s largest cities by stress level, based on factors such as poverty and unemployment rates, commute times, overall health, family size, crime rates and even the average amount of sunshine.

    Chicago ranked below:
    • New York
    • Detroit
    • Los Angeles
    • Riverside/San Bernardino, Calif.
    • Houston
Nothing about having to live in a city run by democrats, but it seems to be a prevalent theme in high stress cities for some reason.

I have visited Houston, on business, numerous times in the past few years. I have never noticed that people were stressed. They were too busy enjoying life and making money. I plan of moving there when I retire.

OT: seen a Instagram video yesterday of two Chicago police officers struggling with what seems to be some scrawny teen in a back yard. The two offers seem to have him pinned down but he's constantly slipping right through them like a greased up live chicken. Also wasn't a good look that the officers are very overweight. By the time the 15 second clip is over the kid is taking off and the two officers are left on the ground. The kid didn't even have shoes on.

No No No SCC!

What had happened was the lib-tard yellow-pinky, nanny statist dummy-crats in these cities have thoroughly monetized misery, gridlock and walking the middle class backwards into abject peonage so that they're now equal with the catered to constituents.

If a motherfucker has a job, a house, a working car, some money put away and is hoping to keep their pension undiminished, they're rich...

Use of the catered to constituency as a firewall and a lever against the middle class.

Foul and funky shit...
Not a matter of if but WHEN the REAL shooting
starts.

We've had this discussion many times. Our people are so worried about hurting someone most of the time that we are ineffective. That is dangerous for us and really bad for you, the good citizen.

Go a couple of threads up and you will seen why - parasitic lawyers. This is the primary reason for an ineffective police officer. We are afraid of losing our houses and families money to some scum bag lawyers and his criminal "victim". There are now plenty of officers that have lost money to these parasites. Again, not good for you good citizens.

Lump around with no motivation and you get fat, lazy looking coppers. Not an excuse for all, but certainly a contributing factor.

-"no cop here", get on the job and show us all how you would do it.
Then we'll sit back and watch you go through all the changes including the federal suit for excessive force.

6/27/2014 12:40:00 AM yes many officers are chunky or fat. This job takes a toll on you. Why don't you give it a try and see what 10+ years working in this corrupt department does to your body and mind. You couldn't bounce a quarter off my ass today because I am too busy eating away my stress. Unless you have experience as a CPD officer, I suggest you stop judging. Asswipe!

I leave work every day with a whopping headache, a knot in my stomach and a serious craving for a drink. I don't need any news report to tell me I live in a stressed out city.

If it was so bad to live in Chicago, 2.7 million wouldn't live there. I'm no fan of Chicago's politics but quite a few people, very successful people, choose to live there.

Seriously SCC? Most major cities are run by democrats. And if stress was all about the democrats who run the joint, why isn't the "liberal bastion" of the San Francisco area on here?

I read the CNN 'study' and how it was done. The bottom line, their listing is bogus -- gee, what a shock.

What they did was mix cities with Metro Areas. They *needed* to do this to get small population 'major' cities like say Salt Lake or Denver with large places like New York and Chicago. But even then, they still added Metro data from places like Chicago to 'some' of their categories, like commuting, or crime. What you end up with is, bullshit.

And I mean BULLSHIT! There's no way in hell that my stress -- sitting here approx 26 miles from State and Madison streets -- would be the same if I still lived in my old 'hood of Brighton Park.

I know for a fact that being here I can go to a certain Village Park and sit by the lake and relax, not having to worry if I was going to be jacked for my phone by some 'urban youths' or shot for my shoes and wallet -- unlike if I was in Chi's McKinley Park, Marquette Park, or at Lake Michigan & 35th Street.

My 'stress factor' here is ZERO. Twenty plus miles away in Chiraq it's off the goddamn charts! So they can take their phony list and shove it up their ass.

Chiraq is number one!

Political stress is huge...! I am constantly stressed out by connected people on this job who say they got their promotions by study and hard work. Add in the Democratic demographic and you have a heart attack cocktail that is hard to wrestle every day. Welcome to Chiraq'

OT... thank you 24th district for the addition of two really good Sgt's to the 2nd watch. Now let's get rid of the goof who sits in the lot all day smoking two packs and writing up working officers. Great boost for morale if we assign this goof to the gas company parking lot.

Thought excuses were looked down upon on a blog like this? I do infact need to make a few things clear though. First, one of the officers were actually overweight, but neither one seemed "fit". Both also seemed to be "up in age". No where in my post did I judge a CPD officer, but I did chuckle at the incident I'll admit. On the "not wanting to use excessive force" comments, I understand that. But I should have also added the kid also did not "assault" the officers to get away - how ever far that may have been. Years ago I read some where that Chicago has the "fatest cops in the nation". But from experience, I have not witnessed that statement to be remotely true. I don't think I need to be a police officer to know that binge stress eating wouldn't be a great idea for my career. Or anything else.

I simply shared what I witnessed on a social media video featuring Chicago police officers on a Chicago Police blog. No judging, ridiculing, or mocking (reading back on what I wrote, "the kid didn't even have shoes on" may have seemed like mocking, but I didn't intend it to seem that way. But for Christ's sake, all the shit that's talked on this blog, I'm very surprised at these responses!).

What country are we in? It's not the America our "founding fathers" imagined or planned for. They intended this nation to be for "their" progeny. What does that mean? People who belonged to "their" tribe. Wake up! Look in the mirror.
