Daley - Untouchable

When your father builds the political structure from the ground up and you continue the habit of granting favors and boons to the political class, it pays off down the road:
  • Former Mayor Richard M. Daley isn’t going to have to testify in City Hall’s lawsuit to break a sweetheart contract the Park Grill restaurant awarded under Daley.

After reviewing affidavits on Daley’s medical condition behind closed doors, the Park Grill’s operators and lawyers agreed Wednesday to withdraw their subpoena to put the former mayor on the witness stand.

Park Grill operators Matthew O’Malley and James Horan had been relying on Daley to be their star witness to rebuff the lawsuit Mayor Rahm Emanuel filed in Cook County Court three years ago.
So no one will be held accountable for the millions, even billions squandered during the reign of Shortshanks. Teflon has nothing on this asshole.

Maybe Park Grill was given a promise that they won't be held criminally accountable, only that they'll have to give up their lucrative criminal enterprise?

After all, shouldn't Rahm be able to spread around some of the stolen money to HIS friends?

I guess this town ain't ready for no reform yet.

Screw those taxpayers. Lord Daley must be protected at all costs!

And these Park Grill people... You mean that they didn't realize that they were getting the sweetheart deal to end all deals and that once the Daley crime family stopped covering up their tracks, that other people might take notice and say, "Hey, what's going on here?"

7/24/2014 02:09:00 AM

These corrupt bastards never cease to amaze me!

Here's a likely scenario:

The developers of 130 N Garland Ct probably needed all sorts of help with real estate tax considerations, zoning changes, permit fees and ordinance violations when they were in the planning stages so they offered the penthouse to Godfather Daley, rent free, after his retirement.

Daley greases the works, top to bottom, for the developers and is now reaping his reward, after the they wrote off the penthouse on the taxpayers as a business expense.

It's the Chicago way of conducting business, if you're a connected POS Daley crime family member!

Any investigation by the Feds will not be completed until Daley is deceased, then the results will be buried.

Fact 1

Mayor Jane Byrne is going to have something named after her.

Fact 2

Little Richie spent his years as dictator getting rid of just about everything with Mayor Byrne's name on it. He felt she took the Throne that he was Entitled to.

Fact 3

The City is in for a rough road financially do to the Billions Daley and his extended family and friends misappropriated, mishandled, or outright stole.

We won't get that money back.

Solution

Just to get back at him a little tiny bit, how about........

Changing the name of Millennium Park to Mayor Jane Byrne Park.

It's petty, but feels so right.

This is not on the judge...he never had a chance to rule on whether Daley would be forced to testify. The attorneys met in the judge's chambers, they reviewed the medical records, and then O'Malley's attorneys withdrew their subpeona for Daley. If there's any deal, it's between O'Malley and Daley.

Then we begin naming and renaming important places here in Chicago after a person who they hated because she was the first one to challenge the corrupt status quo. To start with, The Mayor Jane Byrne Interchange, so that we can hear her name every time there is a traffic report. Second, name the international terminal at Ohare The Mayor Jane Byrne International Terminal. Last, but not least, as another post suggested, rename Millenium Pk after Jane Byrne and make sure the ceremonial change takes place on short thanks birthday.

I like the idea of Millium park named after Jane Byrne. We also have to rebuild Miegs Field.
