Coming five hours after a shooting in the Longwood Manor neighborhood that left three other boys hurt, the shooting brought to five the number of boys 17 or younger shot on the South Side Monday night.
Mental note...teach my boys who are less than 17 years old to not be out late at night, to not stand at corners, and to not talk to people in dark vans.
When these kids' parents start acting like parents, maybe the shooting rate will go down.
But more importantly, can this kid's death be politically exploited? If not, then he's a meaningless statistic. If he can be exploited, I expect the usual professional exploiters.

I doubt that, when the Democrats stop taking money from the gangs I'll believe it. The Democratic Party had no problem 15 years ago when the biggest dope dealer in Chicago worked as a supervisor in the Audy Home.

The probation department makes the decisions on locking up the juvenile. They have to be called and give the ok for any detention.
