Witch Hunt at FDNY
- FDNY firefighters are fighting the department’s snooping into their personal phone records to hunt the source of news leaks.
Outraged by FDNY tactics — including subpoenaing cellphone records — the Uniformed Fire Officers Association “strongly recommends” that members not give the department their numbers and delete them from their personnel files, The Post has learned.
The department needs cellphone numbers to reach off-duty personnel in a major emergency. But recently it has been searching phone records to check if members called reporters.
We imagine this is about the recent story of an unqualified FDNY recruit being carried throughout training without being able to pass the physical rigors of the process. It's not like the public should expect a firefighter to be able, you know, climb ladders, drag hoses, extinguish fires or anything physically demanding. "Don't worry about the building burning down around your ears - a capable firefighter will be there shortly!" It's not as if anyone would actually die in a smoky stairwell in a County Building because the fire lieutenant was unable to climb to where people had taken refuge against a door, right?
It's been whispered in our ears that McCarthy has been (and continues) doing something similar. We don't doubt it simply because we know that Barb West conducted an illegal First Amendment investigation once already and Dave Harris gave a speech where he said he was going to shut down the blog because it is "detrimental." The Department hasn't acted on the info acquired because they can't justify a legitimate government need to, but supposedly people with a habit of posting here have been denied management transfers to better spots and one has even been dumped from a decent spot.
Be aware that this isn't a New York phenomena.

If you are an officer and leak info whats the big deal!
Everything can be obtained by a FOIA.
So why keep white shirts and RAHMS little secrets anymore.
Leak all those Alderman's families crimes.
Leak all the special details for the elite.
Leak all those cases where a detective is sent just because they are a clouted victims like university of Chicago.
I would say "doesn't the CPD brass have *real* police work to do?" but I think we all know the answer to that.
Fuck Dave Harris, merit hack hand job!
In the FDNY case the firefighter that does not meet physical qualifications has a reason. She is a double minority, black and female. In the interests of both affirmative action and diversity she must be retained. She is very productive at light duty tasks, as long as she is not required to do any prolonged or strenous physical activity.
Nothing to see here. Your friendly GEheim STAtz POlizei are monitoring you to keep you safe from these anti-socialist malcontents.
Put your faith in the GESTAPO and the progressive regime. It is for your own good.
You haven't been following the NSA snooping and what Snowden blew the whistle on?
All of our phones are being recorded and not just meta data.
There's a number of videos on youtube from Binney Google them. He's no nut-job.
William Edward Binney is a former highly placed intelligence official with the United States National Security Agency (NSA)[3] turned whistleblower who resigned on October 31, 2001, after more than 30 years with the agency. He was a high-profile critic of his former employers during the George W. Bush administration.
Binney continues to speak out during Barack Obama's presidency about the NSA's data collection policies, and continues interviews in the media regarding his experiences and his views on communication intercepts by governmental agencies of American citizens. In a legal case, Binney has testified in a affidavit that the NSA is in deliberate violation of the U.S. Constitution.
Walmart sells very inexpensive pay-as-you-go cell phones for all your 1st amendment needs. $30 restores your ability to talk to the press without worrying about management illegally connecting that phone call to your employee records.
Now retired says:
Privacy is a very precious thing and must be protected. This is advice I have often given.
For over thirty years while working for the CPD all my phone lines, my utilities, my magazine subscriptions, my credit card bills and my vehicles all were registered to a POST OFFICE BOX and some under an alias or at least just under last name and initial. I use to do this to keep the information from the street thugs and their lawyers, now it is also to keep it from Rahm's and BHO's minions.
If your called 4-1-1 and asked for my name I don't exist and but there is and alias listed so I don't pay for an UNLISTED NUMBER.
It's better to list your vehicles to a P.O. Box than a Police Station, again just first initial and last name.
Stay Safe. Screw Big Brother and his Little Brother.
So SCC are you saying the department somehow has the identity of individuals that have posted on your blog? Are these just individuals that posted their names or did the department get the identity of anonymous posters?
Remember the "investigation" of Detective Shaved LongCock they had.
The Nine-Digit-Midget had Andy Shaw and the BGA do his dirty work.
Though I do remember J-Fled saying something to the effect
that he "get" SCC before he left office (now he's ABC 7 "security consultant after getting thrown out of Chicago Crime Commission)
I'm sure McLiar is trying too.
This blog is NOT detrimental. This blog is a good source of news for the common taxpayer AND WE APPRECIATE IT.
Media cheerleaders for Rahm do not write stories about the truth. They write fiction that supports the incompetence as well as hides the realities of the volume of crime happening.
Unlike here New York must still have some real reporters. This line in the short article sums it up.
"They're more worried about bad press than their bad policies."
If they have a little ink left we can maybe tell them what a bang up job McNumbneuts is doing here.
How would they be able to find out who is posting here? Its a private blog right?
They keep lowering the standards and look what you get. Crap......
Calling reporters is why your kid's or spouse's phone were invented.
People get dumped from spots all the time. Sometimes you will know the reason why, and sometimes you won't. If you're in one of those
positions that doesn't afford you any union protections, you should always be prepared to
move out at a moment's notice. Everyone
should know by now on this job that nothing's
totally legit, and nothing's guaranteed. Anyone
who sticks around long enough to draw a pension
has to know by now that disappointment will become your silent-but-ever-present best friend here.
Looks like the people who run the NYFD academy took lessons from our own CPD academy here.
I have a work mobile, a personal mobile, and a prepaid mobile.
A prepaid mobile can be had for $20, $5 for a sim card, and $10 for minutes that are good for 90 days at a stretch.
I shut my personal mobile off whenever I think I may be tracked.
It's funny that you mention this SCC. I have been in 015 for a while and have not been able to make a move. My activity is above average and I am a very competent officer (according to me). I have tried to put in for a number of spots and have always been denied or passed over for younger, less experienced, less qualified officers. I responded via SCC, to a post you had up a while ago about some comments that were made in the Austin Voice by one of its writers. In the next issue he responded back using my name which I had given out of respect so as not be be anonymous. In his response, towards the end he mentioned my name and referred to me as the creator and the one who runs Second City Cop, which I am not of course. Coincidence or I just don't know the right people/kiss ass? Signed Anonymous.
I was wondering why I was denied that transfer.
Is it because I post here?
Or is it because that one female exempt's bottom was too crimson?
Putin would be sooo proud.
Dave Harris is a over promoted merit egotistical tool

No wiser words were ever spoken.
We need more police on the street . Mr. Mayor , how about every sworn full duty officer is assigned to district patrol . Hire civilians for office work for less money . Police officers are paid big money because of our job , our job is OT to do office work .
KMA club guy here, what's a cell phone?
Why should our own local Democrat politicians and their minions obey laws when we have a criminal administration in Washington who breaks laws every day to further their own Liberal agenda. Politicians used to at least have the decency to commit their crimes behind the scenes and now they just stick it in our faces and laugh at us. Amazing times.

"She is very productive at light duty tasks, as long as she is not required to do any prolonged or strenous physical activity." Now, THAT would give me confidence when I'm trapped in an inferno.

Got that right. Even cheaper, pay cash and there is no record of who purchased the phone.
I am not a cop and read this blog to get the real info on what is happening that Rahm and McCarthy suppresses and their media lapdogs don't pursue. Recent examples are the Pride parade craziness, Montrose Beach riot and (you pick it) shootings on the south and west sides. This is why they think the site is detrimental. People are learning the truth on what is happening.
SCC needs some cloud based 'mirror' blogs. If one is taken down, two more show up....etc etc

--------------
WRONG.. you MUST be able to be physically capable of handling the job if it is properly spelled out in the "job description" of a FDNY firefighter.
For example; just because a handicapped person is blind he is NOT qualified to be a firefighter or police officer. He can sue til' the cows come home but he is not going to win the lawsuit.
BUY a "burn phone" with cash, thats what the ahole pos drug dealers/ bad guys use. NO ONE, not even the NSA can get to you then.
Um, if it's not a department issued phone, FUCK YOU, you may NOT have my number! Same goes for a pager.

Oh, Please come knocking on my door, Please do it! I'd love to introduce your department to my lawyer!
Question? Please Post
When is the next up coming election for the Pension Board trustee for Patrolman?
Detrimental my fucking ass. AT THE VERY LEAST it improves moral.

So she can cook, sweep the floor and do a little cleaning around the firehouse? Didn't we divide the Country and fight a devastating war to get away from that?
Winston Churchill once said: "Here's to our wives and the women we love, may they never meet".
That's Reason 1 to buy a throw away phone.
Reason 2, this blog post.
We don't have to discredit the department. It does it by itself.
TOR (the onion router) can be quite useful
If they don't need it - don't ever give it to them, then they can't use it against you.
And the whole concept of subpoenaing records to find out who leaked what is simply inane. Anyone who wants to blow the whistle on something will just go out of District, pay cash, and buy a prepaid phone for that call. Then turn it off, destroy it, and that's it...
Go ahead, trace it. That SIM card is inside of a piss-bum scrapper's hut being scraped for the gold pins...

The post is about FDNY, not CPD.
When Michell Obama recently commented that she would do EVERYTHING in her power to help Quinn get re-elected do you suppose that includes warrant-less NSA wiretaps, IRS tax audits and blackmail of anyone powerful enough to work against the party? Curious.
Skunks in high places really hate being outed ! Sooner or later their odor gives them away.
Fight these corrosive and corrupt "public safety administrators" back!
30 jul 09:04 civilians doing the office work hahaha funny! First, lotta sensitive info (police address, phone #s,etc civilian info and bad Guy info) not to mention the ones I've seen work, or lack thereof! Talk about taking their sweet ass time! Telling me, and I quote " I'm dealing with my husband's health issues right now and I can't process your request. I'll do it. When I get to it" (he's been in ill health for sometime, nothing new) wtf my response " u get paid like me to do a job now do your job.smh
Also, some of these officers who've spent 20+ yrs should be entitled to work inside. Shit, they've put in their time, got knowledge and experience! They can answer and expedite my questions, call, requests, etc.
Stop hating
Bet you any amount of money that a LOT of coppers have been bricked because Rahm used his juice in D.C. to avail himself to fedgov resources to find out who the noisy churls are who insist on exposing him and his bullshit to the bright sunshine of truth.
That playground smack talk rings true almost 50 years later...
"The doo-doo YOU DO in the dark, eventually comes to light..."
>SQUISH! - Stink!<
Rahm & Co. laugh up their sleeves at the upright taxpaying citizen angrily muttering and scraping the doo-doo Rahm & Co. did do from the bottom of their shoe.
Whither thus?
This obsession with secrecy, lack of oversight and disclosure and other such fuckery designed to keep the upright taxpayers from open rebellion and refusing to feed the beast that is the Chicago democratic machine?
Let these bastards seek sustenance from their catered to constituency!
Man!
Talk about open rebellion?
The catered to constituency would burn Chicago to a fucking crisp if they were actually told to pay some of the freight here.

If you are really really worried about being tracked, take the battery out of the phone. Also if your phone is giving you trouble take the battery out for a while. It's lie doing a RESTART on your computer.
Here I am. Posting again on SCC. Come after me CPD. I'm waiting.

Hey, short-bus!
SCC sez this ain't just a FDNY phenomena.
Jeez... Do your lips move when you read?
Do you take your shoes off to count your toes when you hit a number greater than 10? Try to keep up, ok?
It would be a great thing if we could hire retired cops to do inside work two or three days a week.
Sort of like Jim Roussell, but on the District level and part time.
Other departments do this. Collect the pension and make Social Security/Medicare contributions plus why let al that knowledge go to waste.
Why? Because Rahm and McNumbnuts want to destroy all institutional memory of the CPD. Don't want any Old Timers around who know about, well you know...
