West Side Life Expectancy
- Police say they are cracking down on drug sales that drive the violence in West Garfield Park, which has the highest homicide rate of Chicago's 77 community areas.
This is not news to the community, still reeling from the death of 11-year-old Shamiya Adams, who became yet another symbol of the city's seemingly uncontrollable gun violence when she was shot to death at a sleepover last month in the 3900 block of West Gladys Avenue. Tevin Lee, 19, has been charged in her death in what prosecutors say is a case of gang retaliation.
Also recently, a study released by the city found West Garfield Park has the lowest life expectancy of Chicago community areas but offered few reasons for the ranking.
Since 011 is leading the annual homicide race by double digits at last count (a 100% increase over last year), that might have something to with the lowered life expectancies. And having a commander who leads the city in brutality CR numbers and (alleged) hoplophobic dental work doesn't seem to be having an impact.

I'll say it again. Evans and Company especially that moron XO Lemmer are in waayyyyyyyyy over their heads. Their 003rd district magic formula for crime reduction has had the complete opposite effect in 011. This place ran pretty damn well before you Koolaid drinkers rolled in to show us how to be the police. Guess what? No one here wants to do anything more than the minimum when you have destroyed morale across the board. Bully tactics ain't working on people that bust their asses day in and day out working beat cars in the busiest distinct in the city. The "dogs" here do more work in a day than 90% of coppers in any other district. Don't matter if it's a car, desk or lockup, everyone works harder here than most places and I've worked in 7 diff districts and a few units. People have started bidding out - both pos and supervisors. And the fact that Evans has been allowed to remain in charge with the allegation backed by DNA evidence is mind blowing. We all know what the end result is prob gonna be cuz he's not a no clout blue shirt. I'm sure a few things prob needed to be adjusted and fine tuned but these assclowns have turned the place on its head when it didn't need that much. Evans and crew obviously never heard 'If It Ain't Broke Don't Fix It'. Also SCC I guess u didn't hear about the group of reverends and protesters on bullhorns out in front of 011 the other day chanting that Evans must go cuz of his excessive force CRs and about the latest gun in mouth eff-up. Only on CPD do things like this occur.

I hear Evans sent A.Z. packing, and wants J.T. gone. These moves may help to bring back some morale. Good moves Boss! These two were allowed to mess with the working police for far to long without any challenges from other superiors except former retired Lt. H.D. She knew A.Z. and J.T.s' games were bogus. Lt. First part I agree with, the asshat with the comment after, you probably are the dog ass they are referring to! Everyone on here is the tough guy when anonymous way to be 10 years old!
The citizens and especially the leaders in Garfield Park are more who ignore the violence. Probably because they are corrupt and so are the cops.
