Chewie Doesn't Believe Numbers

  • Mayoral challenger Jesus "Chuy" Garcia promised to show "unprecedented levels of violence in Chicago" during a Monday news conference attacking Mayor Rahm Emanuel's record on crime, but instead used a narrow set of statistics that dates back only four years.

Garcia noted the number of city shootings is up about 15 percent this year. With just a couple of days left in 2014, the city has had 2,506 shooting victims compared with 2,185 last year.

"That is what people in Chicago fear. That is the unknown. That is what keeps people young and old as prisoners in their own homes," said Garcia, a Cook County commissioner.

What Garcia didn't mention is that overall crime in Chicago is down this year and the number of homicides is on pace to be the lowest in decades. Garcia sought to focus on the number of shootings, not deaths.
That Chewie - he'll believe "hands up" bullshit stories, but not Garry's numbers.

In any event, the Trib proves it hasn't read anything except Garry's press releases this year. They must have completely missed the Chicago Magazine articles about number manipulation, you know, the ones about burglaries being downgraded to thefts, pickpocketing and such being made lost property, sexcual assaults of all stripes being made into simple batteries. And the double digit reductions in crime when every other city in the country experienced mere 3-and-4% drops.

It's almost like Chicago exists in opposite land - if you legalize guns, the streets will run read with blood, completely unlike every other city in America. And when crime goes down 4, 5, even 8 times the national average, coinciding with the introduction of a new counting system, it's the brilliant former NYPD eggheads who are dragging Chicago cops into the 21st century!

What a pile of shit.

As I mentioned before, theses guys got the statistic of crime down pack. I was reading a paper by some professor at Berkeley, these demos got the mathematical diagrams, equations, charts, and the numbers I front of them that can tell them what level of crimes needs to be at, in order to get elected, that paper was writen in 1985, it is amazing. Chicago is mentioned all up in that paper.

These guys know what they are doing, don't think it is a mistake. Kinda like how a bunch of knuckleheads thing they will have a pension in 20, hey bud, let me show u how this 401k is done.

Supporters of the New York Police Department have risen up in anger against the unlikely target of Chipotle burrito chefs, thanks to a viral Facebook post that alleged employees of the fast-food chain refused service to eight officers – and despite the chain’s rebuttal of the details contained in the post.

Chipotle’s involuntary participation in the racially charged debate over police behaviour gripping New York began on 17 December, when Ray Melendez, a Brooklyn resident who identified himself as a former NYPD officer, wrote on Facebook – in a post that was deleted on Monday – that “an officer involved at the incident” told him several employees of a local Chipotle had “raised their hands & said: ‘Hands Up, Don’t Shoot’ to the officers”.

Melendez said the officers “simply left the location without any further action at the scene rather than provoke what could be a losing situation, given the climate of ‘support’ from our Mayor”. Many members of the NYPD have denounced the mayor, Bill de Blasio, for what they perceive as his support for recent protests over police killings of unarmed black men.

Melendez then quoted a complaint by another former NYPD officer, Scott Lothrop, who said the “familiar but completely erroneous ‘Hands Up, Don’t Shoot’ gesture” caused the on-duty officers “a great deal of embarrassment, annoyance and humiliation”.

Lothrop said he would boycott Chipotle for the staff members’ “unconscionable” gesture, which he said was made at a time when “race baiting anarchists [are] descending on New York”.

This Department is a shining example to the rest of the nation on how not to run a police department. The city elected an outsider as it's mayor who brought in an outsider to run the department. Some new changes made it worse but some old time politico manipulation is still around keeping the department in clouted hands. Just look at the captains list, and the ranks above. Have to keep that control just in case another Koschman case pops up. Any info on what really happened to the mayors son? ..crickets LOL

OT..... I witnessed something yesterday that felt good inside. I witnessed an off duty P. O. confront another P.O. about comments the P.O. had previously posted on here. The jist of it was that the P.O. put some personal information concerning the other's off duty's family. Was not exactly sure what the post had to do with at this point but it seemed to concern the off duty's wife or kids. The P.O. that made the comment is always ragging on the old timers because they don't do anything and complaining about the young guys because they don't do enough. He for a fact has made comments about bosses and several P.O.'s on the blog. I know if this because he will brag about his comments. The thing is the next day you see him smiling with those exact people he made a comment about. I never have seen him so afraid and tripping over his own words when he was confronted. fronted. He admitted too making the comments but said he was put up to it by a boss????? WTH?????? I mean really? It turned out thag the off duty was actually sticking up for a freind of his and was very upset over the comments posted. It was refreshing to see officers still sticking up for each other. It gave me a sense of pride after seeing so many officers back stab each other. I am sorry about the long rant and my grammar not being perfect but I think we get the story. So moral to the story is if you make a comment on here be ready to defend it if it comes back your way. Please please please for heaven's sake keep officers personal business off here. We are not the only ones who read this.

Rahm, like his friend the President, is a narcissist, a self involved megalomaniac. There is no such thing as us i9n Rahm's world. Like the President, he is a danger as long as he has power.

DeBlasio, or whatever made up name he has, is a clown. He is a blip in New York's history and the punch line to future jokes. He will be gone the next election cycle.

Leave this Mayor in and we are stuck with him as long as he likes, just like Richie. Put in someone else we don't like in four years and we voter him out next cycle.

The choice is clear. We need ANYONE BUT RAHM EMMANUEL. Pick the frontrunner and vote for him. Make the effort and get out the vote. It's that important.

There is no question that the trib has extraordinary pro Rahm bias. They do not even really hide it as their censors take down posts critical of him even though they are based entirely in FACT. Chuy Garcia on the other hand is a soft on crime, enabling anti-cop, DiBlasioesque shill for Rahm put in by Rahm with promises of future consideration to Preckwinkle. Garcia marches with anti police protesters with their factually untrue "stand up don't shoot fantasy. The only real candidate that will provide the citizens of Chicago with the basic human need of safety is Fioretti. And he will stand up for the police too----not the criminals

I have been taking it as a given that the most reliable crime stats are murders, and that most of the minor stuff is heavily subject to definition and the level of enforcement. Perhaps the number of shootings is reasonably reliable also. Perhaps if it becomes more hazardous to go into the black community there will be less enforcement and a possible lowering of the crime states.

Please go to a reliable news source and read what happened. One employee acted the fool. The police officers turned around and exited.
The company reviewed surveillance video, disciplined (no details) the employee and apologized for the employee's actions.
Let's not make this more than it was, which was one idiot acting like an idiot.
There are rumors being printed that the Brooklyn store refuses to serve all police. Untrue. Rumors that several employees did this. Not true. Let's not overreact and be like the Ferguson mob, who refused to believe FACT over their twisted views.

The one thing nobody likes to talk about as far as the "New York Renaissance" that occurred in the 90's was that it was associated strongly with seriously increasing real estate prices driving the lower element out.

It still has its hellhole pockets but the gentrification that has occurred there over the past 20 years is astonishing. I mean, Harlem is now full of prime real estate. That would be like Roseland turning around.

A full 50% of the city of Chicago is basically a barnacle on the other half. They will never be 'priced out'. The scale of everything is different. This is what the scary part of the death spiral looks like.

Rahm is for Rahm, but he might be the best choice at this time to keep the city from going under financially. He cannot do anything he wants to the pension. The secret deal has already been made. Rahm and Axelrod kept Claypool from challenging Bullwinkle in the primary. She got a free pass. She ha saga been promised money and an uncontested primary to challenge Mark Kirk. John Daley moves up to County Board President from Finance Chief. DONE DEAL, SUCKERS.

Off Topic, but as long as NYPD is the center of the police universe at the moment...

Timothy J. Dowd, the New York City police detective who led the manhunt that finally ensnared David Berkowitz, the serial killer who called himself the Son of Sam and whose yearlong shooting spree and evasion of the police spread fear across the five boroughs, died on Friday in Millbrook, N.Y. He was 99.

God Bless him for the good work

How does the tribune criticize Chewie for using the shooting stats? There were potentially 400 more homicedes this year and they want to say murder was down a couple ticks. I guess we already know who the tribs endorsing.

Well I guess that is anyone with a J-O-B now....

don't be surprised.... 2014 TAX INCREASES PASSED

Remember this WHEN YOU DO YOUR TAXES IN APRIL 2015) !
In case you didn't notice.

Here is what happened on January 1, 2014 :

Top Medicare tax went from 1.45% to 2.35%, an increase of 62%

Top Income tax bracket went from 35% to 39.6%, an increase of 13%

If you really want to see the drop in crime you must look at Case Management in all Areas, that's where it all disappears.

The spin on the numbers the sup puts out on his media rounds are ridiculous, for example the number of fewer arrests, let's analyze that. Yes there are fewer arrests then last year and the year before, does that mean crime is down? no! It just means this dept has been handcuffed by the liberals to the point that effecting any arrests has become risk for your career on many levels even if you are 100 percent in the right.. Meanwhile the savages are rampaging through every one of Chicago's downtown landmarks, even the media can't ignore the "teens" as they describe them Anymore... I agree with the previous poster rahm is scared.

And then you have Chicago's "news " station carrying the story of the tragedy in the west multiple times in prime time along with the bullshit snowjob about Navy Pier and how safe it is now and how all the people's interviews are so positive but not one word from the people who got that "Chicago" experience watching those "kids" doing stupid things that just "happen" when there are large crowds. Who the fuck comes up with shit and puts it on the air. Talk about carrying the water You know guns are bad and Chicago is safe ...........Right ?

I don't believe the numbers and I work here. .... so what does that tell you.

Chicago's numbers have never been believable. That is why the FBI doesn't accept Chicago's numbers. They are total bullshit.

None of the mayoral candidates are Jane Byrne. You will never see the likes of her again. Garcia, Fioretti and Rahm will be tough to sell in the 41st and 19th Wards, where the majority of cops, fireman and city workers live. Yea Garcia s liberal, but he pledges to hire more cops, keep the pensions with the 3% annual bumps. He will use tiff money for it, to pay that 500-600 million due soon. He will have no choice but take care of Wards like 41 and 19, they normally generate 4 times the votes in the Hispanic areas n the SW side. For instance in the 41st ward, their internal polling has the incumbent OConnor with 65-70 % negatives. They feel strongly that OConnor will lose straight out or for sure in a runoff to Anthony Napolitano ( CFD former CPD ). He is strongly supported by the only Republican Alderman Brian Doherty. Garcias manager had lunch with Napolitano about two weeks ago. Garcia s going to take Rahm into a runoff, with Rahm losing, his negatives can't be overcome. It's 6 weeks to the election. We might as well get as much as we can from Garcia. Rahm has done shit for the white ethnic areas of the City. I guess we will all have to stay tuned....
