We're having a time wrapping our heads around this new policing strategy downtown.
- show up at a brawl involving upwards of 100 individuals;
- call for CTA buses;
- push em back to the south side
We like a suggestion from a reader or two:
- call for the buses with the chicken wire windows;
- ship em all to 018/001 and surrounding districts to cool their heels until mommy or daddy show up
We mean, seriously? Is this normal?
That was the Rock-and-Roll McDonalds after the police cleared Navy Pier. Related? Not sure, but there were three or four "spontaneous" and simultaneous wildings across the country last night. It isn't unreasonable to suggest some sort of coordinated social media event, is it?

I agree to go out & be out of harm's way before dark, but the "before dark" doesn't seem to apply anymore. There seems to be no rhyme or reason to the nonsense anymore. I used to think it was safe to go out during the day, while they were sleeping/recovering from the night before, but they seem to work in shifts or something. It seems to happen at all sorts of weird hours - even during daytime! It's just so sad we can't enjoy the city where we live in!
When these kids would be locked up in 018 for wilding, their parents would show up screaming. They would yell that it was racism and we just didn't want black kids downtown. Are you stupid or something? There is a difference between what the law says and what would be socially and politically acceptable. Also, do you really think you can shoot into a crowd of several people while a fight is going on and you will actually hit the assailant? If you do, you are dreaming.
To any concealed carry holder, don't ever shoot an asshole vs. asshole fight. It is not worth it. There is a time to shoot and a time when to walk the other way. In this incident, it is a no brainer. Yes, the justice department and the president of the US have a different agenda than patriotic Americans.

Get 'them' the heck into Police Patrol Wagons or CPD Buses and lock 'em up, get the family to the station, charge the parent a fine and send the Kid to Juvenile Court. Currently, the Teen-age Strike Force is escalating in large, public places. They have no business doing these Wildings....Lock em up cause sooner or later they are going to raise the steaks and do worse. What they are doing is illegal, threatening and dangerous.

Why didn't they write them ANOVs? Could have filled the entire year's quota in one night and McStreetlight could have used the stat at his monthly press conference about crime being down.
Chairs used as weapons can cause death or great bodily harm. Deadly force would be justified in the protection of self or someone else. I wished some O/D po or CC permit holder got some body count.

Stop running public transportation to the malls at 7pm. Older citizens aren't out and about after pm.
Workers at the mall can be picked up/drop off at nearest public trans by shuttle.

These are 2 totally different scenarios if you haven't figured it out yet.
The one you describe is grown men acting out after being over-served. Men of any race. Not a "wilding" by a long shot.
This video shows these youthful thugs terrorizing and destroying property that is not their own, let alone in their neighborhood. And throwing chairs to maim or kill. I only hope it was a fellow gangbanger that got the brunt of it and not some poor mope from Idaho that thought his hardest decision that night would be ketchup or bar-b-que with his order.
