Coppers Injured

  • Two Chicago police officers have been hurt in a collision on the Northwest Side and police say a 30-year-old man has been ticketed for causing the accident.

The police officers were in a marked SUV responding to a call for assistance just before midnight. And police say the officers had their lights and sirens on.

At Irving Park and Melvina, police say a sedan driven by a 30-year-old Berwyn man collided with the police SUV. The SUV then hit a light pole.
Pic from the scene:

That should buff right out. In the meantime, prayers for a speedy recovery Officers.

One officer was released for Illinois Masonic while the other has broken bones in his neck and back. Probably will be by 70% after being on the medical for a year. Too bad. He was a good copper. We'll miss you. He was scheduled to go on tact 1st period.

Not to worry, this totaled Tahoe will soon be replaced by one of the new 400 vehicles that Tiny Dancer 9-Point-5 'intends' to purchase by year's end in exchange for you goofs selling out new hires on the Duty Availability tip for their first 3 1/2 years. And furloughs by watch. And increased healthcare premiums. And less tuition reimbursement.

And while on this topic, anybody have a clue how many new cars were actually purchased since this asinine proposal was worked into this stinker of a contract? Where exactly any new cars may have went? Were any of these 'new' cars actually just that - new? Or were they plucked from where several have been sitting stagnant at 51/Wentworth for the last year-plus?

What the Media fails to note is that when an officer is hurt he may not have "Life Threatening" injuries, but the injuries he has will be "life changing" to say the least. I am now retired, but everyday when I get up in the morning the injuries from my squad car crash haunt me. No disability, just one of those horrible crashes, with an illegal alien; no license, no insurance. Thank you Liberal Politicians. And everyone on the job with any time knows at least one other officer who has been through this.

I will do a FOIA on this one and report back in a week or so. It should be interesting to see if these vehicles are going to white shirts and the selected few, or to the FOP members as agreed in the CBA.

Of course prayers. So sorry to hear what happened to your son. Only thing worse than getting badly hurt is your family member getting badly hurt. Now your experience along with a father's love will take over. Best wishes.

Slow the fuck down you are no help if you crash and hurt yourselves and can't even assist the other officers. You can't fly through intersections if its red yellow or green people don't care anymore, that little extra time clearing intersection will save your lives and maybe the lives of other officers needing help.
Prayers for you officers

Jesus Christ Almighty !!!! Really......Really...... Not one mention as to your thoughts or concerns as to the condition of the Officers injured or even a "Get well soon" before you post a FOP BS rant. You are a piece of shit, worthless son of a bitch, and everything that is wrong with our Police Department today. These Officers are injured, working the streets, hoping to go home to their families each night just as you and I do. I see this and immediately pray that their injuries do not cripple them for the rest of their lives. You on the other hand want to be the typical bitch this Department have way to many of. If you had one sense of decency, you would apologize for your actions and reaffirm the faith that we should have for one another as Officers.

To the Officers who were injured. I pray for your quick recovery and for your families at this time during the holidays. God Bless.

To My fellow Officers, I apologize for the rant. I usually don't write anything, but this really pissed me off that one of our own could be this way.

I was on scene(off duty) after it happened. That 'hoe was bent in half. The picture doesn't do the accident justice. Don't know if a back seat passenger would have made it. CFD cut the front door off to extract the driver.

Don't let those posts bother you. They are mostly made by liberals who sit home jagging off to msnbc while they live either off their parents or on welfare because they cant get a job with their BS liberal arts degrees and are too lazy and scared to actually work for a living.. The great majority of people support the police. They are just too busy working and raising family's to sit all day and post BS on the internet.

My prayers to the injured. Get well soon, but take your time. Guys we all need to slow down. We get hurt so often in car crashes and most of the time it's responding to BS calls way to fast. Never go hard to a call unless it's for one of us. Just respond to your jobs safely and in a timely manner in accordence to general order. Society hates us and so do the politicians and media. It's never been more clear today. Remember, the courts could care less about our arrests and what we risked to make them. It's a corrupt and rigged system full of pals. Kinda like a country club where only a few are invited.

Wow! That was some impact to do that to the truck. The officers were lucky to be in that big vehicle. No details were given as to why the other car did not yield to wailing sirens and lights. Could have been booze, could have been music up way too loud. Doesn't matter. Two coppers doing their job get whacked. Prayers going out. Hope they're ok.

And while we're on this topic, it's wise to note
that vehicle crashes are the number one killer of
police officers.
I'm not pointing fingers or placing fault. Just be
aware while you're rolling around on these streets
on duty that the biggest detriment to any of us returning home in one piece is operating a vehicle very close to wherever you happen to be driving.

Prayers to you and your son Detective, hope it turns out the best possible. The posts of criticism are why so many people, family members, kids, even us other cops, hate cops. Always a criticism, always a second guess, always a gripe. Not a big deal when its about an arrest someone made or someone leaving shit in the squad, when its about brother cops getting hurt it would be nice if you could stfu for a bit.
