This Commander must have gotten the wrong message instead of questioning police officers at the end of their tour of duty for lack of any activity the Commander should have been asking these police officers for specific activity but put it in writing so that this unofficial policy is applicable to ALL police officers under the Commander's supervision!

I anticipated the Mayor's statement several years ago when I threw my ticket books in the trash. I used the trash cans, one of the half dozen trash cans, right in back of the Mayor's house. How convenient! Those Ouija boards really do work!

Maybe the mayor finally figured out the traffic court judges suck and the Crook County keeps all the money. Zero fines for offenders but they pay court costs. City gets nothing for traffic tickets.

He was really saying the opposite: "I don't want my officers to do real police work by concentrating on gangs, drugs and violence. That kind of enforcement will only bring more lawsuits against the city by minorities and ultimately will cause more hemorrhaging of cash. What I need my officers to do is write more traffic tickets and misdemeanor beefs against tourists. That's the only way we can stay afloat."
Why bother with an accident report of DUI tell'em go to the desk and get a private tow truck to move your wreck and if they don't have towing insurance let it sit, he doesn't want a tow case report written either.
If the CPD stops writing tickets, it's because their mayor told them to.
NYPD did it as a show of unity and a stand against their mayor.

Rahm wins election, don't know if a run off or not but only about 35% voter turnout.
Rahm touts his anti crime accomplishments. Even though the department has been pushing ANOVS instead of arrests, he wants to look tough.
Rahm wins election, back to tickets and presence policing. VRI gets cut back, clamps down on OT, slows hiring and promotions, likely change of superintendent.
Things fall apart again and two years from now he bolsters VRI again, hiring, promotions either to look good for the next mayoral election OR governor/senate/president.

This would be any easy one for me. I went years and years and years without writing tickets while in a blue shirt and only wrote them when circumstances of an accident absolutely required the
need to do so. I carried ticket books that were older than a five year bar. Maybe a star when I think about it.
Why are we constantly being told that we are down on contact cards and that we have to get the same number of cards we had in the previous year? That's a quota.

The reason he said this is because at traffic court under the direction of preckwinkle they are dropping all city charges and collecting court fees. Therefore they are cutting the city out of any fees/fines they collect on city charges and the only people benefiting is cook county by collecting the court fees. If we stop writing movers then the county can't collect the mandatory court fees. It's a war between county and the city. No one wants to give any money up. Both budgets are way over their head. Both will fall short of the revenue if no one goes to court.

Calm down and get the right info before panicking. What you are talking about are the civilian employees. Uniform police keep their pension in tact but may lose PART of their COLA. They lose nothing from their pension only a reduction,not an elimination of the COLA Below is a paragraph from the settlement
If Bankruptcy Judge Steven Rhodes approves the city's debt adjustment plan after a trial set to begin next month, the pension checks of retired police and firefighters would stay in tact, with cuts only to a portion of their annual increases, while non-uniformed former workers would take a 4.5-percent cut to monthly checks and lose their annual cost-of-living increases.

The 2 inch snow ban signs are only effective when the city puts out a teletype (now an Admin Message) stating that the 2 inch ban is in effect, for x number of days/ hours, beginning at #####. It was only done once since I came on the job, in 2011 with the 23 inch snow with strong winds. True, they don't do it nearly as often as they should.

The only time I saw that done they just Re-lowed the cars block by block. No citations and no tow charges, great street clearing but a lot of people could be away long term at work, or vacation.

Why the fuck do the recruits run to get a PDT and then insist on running everything on the air? If you do not know how to run a fucking name than do not take a PDT. The dispatcher receives the same information as you do on the PDT. Dumbfucks.

Agreed, got my first cr number in years by another patrolman as a matter of fact he was my partner, sneaky guy,won't out him but pathetic, then after I take a day he says he was sorry, ok I'm retiring this year had to jump through hoops to get this resolved took the day lost the pay, another era this would never happen, this guy is no rookie a veteran officer did this, as soon as I was done with it retirement were put in, can't jeopardize anymore.
Btw if you retire with an open cr no retirement star,party, no irocc card! Nice way o finish up a career!

We are told to give the "parking courtesy".
This comes from an officer that was admonished for not giving them courtesy when they parked and created a dangerous situation.
Or go to the Church of the Phallus???????, Like Mr. Hollywood obviously does????????????.
