- Those of you who work VRI please be careful in how you obtain your activity so you can work VRI. IAD is doing random checks of contact cards and seeing if they are legit. They are using video and GPS to see if you actually did the card or made it up. They are also checking arrest reports with people from multiple units on the same arrest to see if you actually were part of the arrest and not just had a friend put you on paper. These are considered rule 14 violations if the are not legit. Just fair warning.
Really? Now they're going to check for legit paperwork? We're going to call bullshit on that portion of the comment.

B) it's about time cpd updated the grooming standards to reflect 2015 & not 1950. Many CEOs of companys and other respected positions in society have facial hair and it's not considered out of the "norm"
I call bullshit. The only people that it would make sense to check would be those that are just barely making the required activity. So then they're going to go through the trouble to figure out who is doing the minimum required, and then check their contact cards against where their car was at the time the car was created? Seems like far too much trouble without some sort of specific target. Also, how would they factor for foot men?
Why do they even exist? If every Wednesday is weapons and uniform inspection then why do they need an entire unit to inspect people? Just enforce that policy and cut the the inspectors. Bring back the field Lt and dump those inspectors back in the districts.
When the public calls police, the public don't care if we have a beard or not! They just want us to catch the bad guys! This is a stupid waste of tax money for favored, golden parachute pension give aways for the connected pay to play folks!

I.A.D. wouldnt even start an investigation,hell,they cant even finish the ones they already have,they should worry about "there" 2 hour lunches or workouts during duty hours.

A PO in 019 and now 020 was ordered not to display the American flag on the squad car. Those flags with the plastic standard that locks in the squad car window. He always flew two of them, one on each side of the squad car.
Firemen do it on their rigs. So, off came the American flags from the squad cars, per orders. Maybe the muslim flag would be OK.

This is true. The Commander wanted a certain number a day. A supervisor reported it to IAD now were all under the microscope. Thanks SM.

Hire civilians as inspectors , kids right out of college with a degree . Pay the 50k a year , let them write up every infraction they see for a year . Patrolman gets a reprimand and his immediate stumper visor a day without pay , Lt . Working that watch 2 days and if an XO on Futy they get 3 days without pay . Soon cpd uniform and grooming standards will be enforced . It's not the Police Officers fault , it's poor supervision .
Who watches the Inspectors ?
Do they swipe in and out ?
Who monitors their GPS ?

6) no mock turtle necks. Tie with the long sleeve shirt.
7) stop wearing your star on your belt or around a chain when you are in uniform. It is not cool!!

When was the last time you saw the CEO of a corporation have to don and seal a gas mask? All of these tough guys on the tact teams and sat teams will be the first out of the fight because their gas mask won't seal around their beards and goatees. As soon as they get a mask full of OC they will become a useless liability to any officers around them.

B) Who cares what the private sector does? We should still follow the grooming guidelines that have been in place for decades. I welcome inspectors cracking down on the ridiculous goatees, dreadlocks, fingernails, etc.

ie; short sleeve, long sleeve, jacket etc.
It works for LAPD and NYPD.

Heard Drell got his job back with back pay. Board let him back even though IAD followed him and found he was doing estimates while on the medical.Reasoning being he gained no money for the estimates.He should donate the money from the self thrown benefit to charity. SURE
