FYI pal....There is none now and unfortunately will never be a politician representing "my party" in chicago. Myself and a large majority of police and fire are Ronald Regan conservatives. We believe in limited government, personal responsibility, fiscal responsibility, and the basic core beliefs that started this great country. These beliefs are not common in chicago. So I would not be betraying anyone because the ones I would like to see run for office just don't exist in this city. We can only vote for the less of two evils. Sad but true.

Now retired...
Screw you cry babies! Maybe the excess went into the Flower Fund.
I worked in a few district on many holidays.
In some places the D.C. arranged with a local restaurant for a spread for each watch to be brought in and enjoyed by all.
In others the W.C., Lts and Sgts chipped in and got the dinner and all the fixings for their whole crew.
Maybe the best was the pot luck dinners where people brought stuff from home. Some people brought a box of Popeye's and that was fine but the crock pots of simmering meat and vegetables, rice with ethnic spices were the best. It made our watch a family.
That was when we had good bosses who would do anything for their troops.
About the worst I ever heard was when this arrogant ass of a Lieutenant from 025 stopped in a restaurant on Belmont Avenue on Thanksgiving. He saw that there was a dinner being prepared for the 017 District. He told the proprietor he was there to pick it up and took it to his office in 025. When 017 got there to pick it up they were told it was gone and when they went to 025 they were thrown out of the station.
Some may laugh at this or say that the Lieutenant was just taking care of his cronies. If he wanted to do that he should have arranged for a dinner himself. Think of what he took from the coppers in 017. Because of divorces and deaths of parents that was the only Thanksgiving dinner that some of them would have had.
That Lieutenant is dead now and I hope he atoned for what he did.
