Spike Taking Some Heat

  • Director Spike Lee was accused Friday of “stigmatizing” Chicago and “insulting” its residents by choosing the name “Chiraq” for his upcoming Chicago-based movie on violence and education.

“It’s very offensive and, hopefully, he rethinks his position. He definitely needs to change the name. That’s an insult to the city of Chicago. I don’t care what he changes it to, but not that one,” said Far South Side Ald. Anthony Beale (9th), former chairman of the City Council’s Police Committee.

“People are stigmatizing Chicago unnecessarily. We have a lot of good communities. Yes, we have challenged areas and we’re attacking those challenging areas. But we don’t need anybody coming in trying to highlight the problems we’re having. To stigmatize our city as Chiraq is an insult to me and, I’m sure, to the rest of the residents of Chicago.”
What's insulting is the complete failure to address the root causes of violence that has taken the lives of how many people over the past 10 years. 20 years. 40 years. Not a single step to address the base problems, just shovel more money at it and blame the police and the guns.

Nothing new here. Spike Lee also made a film about the nation's fourth largest city--the NYC Borough of
CROOKLYN.

I also want the truth about our major crime issues to be spotlighted. Most of us know but the naive dont and cheating politicians do their best to cover it up.

The interesting thing about this whole Spike Lee movie thing is that Garry and Rahmulus both consorted to do their own little circle jerk TV show a few years ago. If you remember, it was called "Chicagoland", and it aired on CNN. They brought in Mark Benjamin and Mark Levin, because those were the guys who made Garry look so damn cool in the series "Brick City". That was the series done on Garry when he was in Newark, and it was a prerequisite viewing when Garry arrived here, if you wanted to learn about who you were going to be dealing with. Bromance Hugs, heavy gold man bracelets, a snappy soundtrack, and bleeped over F-Bombs. It was Miami Vice meets Baretta, for you older guys. Give me a fucking break.

So; Garry and Rhamulus decide to do a show here, Garry calls his producers and gets the band back together, Rahmulus jacks up the Fenger principal, who actually tried to do a good job with what she had, and they have camera crews follow everybody around for months. Garry and Rhamulus have total edit control. Rick Flair co-stars. everybody gets to look gritty, yet very cool. Swingin' dicks and hot urban chicks. One for the history books. All on the backs of a few neighborhoods that were a mess before the show, and will be the same mess tomorrow.

That show was regarded as a bunch of staged, self-ingratiating Bullshit. So now, maybe Spike Lee wants to serve up a heapin' helpin of actual reality. Maybe not.

But Spike Lee's agenda is not the same as that of Rhamulus, so that's what the real outcry is about. The fake legacy being replaced with a more authentic, less complimentary one. We wouldn't want to do further damage to the already bruised Hillary/Rhamulus run for the Oval Office, would we?

I say give Spike a wide berth and see what he comes up with. My guess is that, mixed in with the unbridled hate, he will find a few nuggets of what we already know, but lacked the intestinal fortitude to vote out.

Watch Rham throw a hissy fit because someone is blatantly going to tell the truth about Chicago. By portraying Chicago in a bad light, it tarnishes Tiny Dancer's political image. Mr. Lee, please continue and go make this documentary. I won't watch it though because you are a race baiting piece of shit.

Why is this a good idea... Nothing ever captured in movies, television or documentaries is reality. They only promote what the creator believes. Chicago has a lot to offer, lets promote and build upon the positive. We do not need to immortalize the negative on film.

It's not the guns Einstein. Are Nashville's street running red with blood this week? 70,000 NRA members are there, and most are CCW. Where are the shootouts in the streets? The piles of bodies?

It is about 5.000 punks in 10 neighborhoods. If your dipshit judges and politicians (BIRM) locked them up when you caught them, you might be as safe as in Houston. Even though Houston has a lot more minorities and a lot hotter Summer nights.

Many people attempt to make valid comparisons between Chicago and New York City (all five boroughs).

Based on the 2010 U.S. decennial census, any crime comparison would be more demographically accurate if one compared the populations of Chicago [ "CHIRAQ"] and Brooklyn [ "CROOKLYN"].

Populations (2010 U.S. Census):

Chicago 2,695,598 "CHIRAQ"
Brooklyn 2,504,700 "CROOKLYN"

Chicago has hellholes like Englewood (007) and Garfield Park (011) while Brooklyn has Brownsville (73rd Pct.) and East New York (75th Pct.).

I'm sure the alderman will be appeased when he finds out the premise of the movie is:
1) Chicago's violence is all white people's fault
2) The mean Republican voters that live in the southern part of the state and who won't vote in more funding for education are the reason Shaniqua and DuJuan end up selling drugs and join gangs.
3) If more federal funding was given to Chicago, the violence would end.
4) Everyone in prison was unfairly targeted by the po-leece, were honor students and probably would have turned their lives around had they not been hauled into a criminal justice system that's geared to keep the black man down.
The above is pretty much the premise of every Spike Lee movie.

You got that right.

Look, the syndicate that pisses away money like water and that has been ruining this city for decades isn't going to do shit to any extent that there are actual results because they won't quit stealing until this city is busted out. They will suck it dry like they have Detroit and Atlantic city.

They want crime. They neeeed crime.

Without crime, the Democrat, er in IL the Republicrat, syndicate looses revenue and the influence it needs
to cultivate pay-to-play, and the need for studies & consulting for Prisons and Hospitals and such.

The more crime, the more city patronage is driven in many city departments. The more the city spends, the more the syndicate can steal through no-bids and insider deals.

Where this city once sustained itself and grew manufacturing things, now it manufactures crime.

The red light cameras bring in a fraction compared to Chicago's crime industry. They cause accidents and financial hardship on an already over taxed citizenery. That's not good for they Citizens, but it's good for the syndicate.

If they are not prepared to do the right thing for Chicago citizens where red light cameras are concerned, there is no chance in hell they are actually going to do anything about crime. It doesn't serve -- their -- interest.

For cops, the cup half full is you have job security. The cup half empty is, Chicago is evidently losing 6-10 percent of it's population annually and the city's economic growth is stagnant, trailing all major cities.

-Citizen
