Um....What Now?

Rahm and the City Council are just planning to give away money now:
  • The city of Chicago appears poised to approve another substantial settlement in a fatal police shooting of a black teenager.

A proposed settlement of $5 million to the mother of Laquan McDonald, 17, is scheduled to be discussed at Monday's monthly Finance Committee meeting at City Hall, according to an agenda for the meeting posted online Friday.

The $5 million settlement — which still would need to be approved by the full council later this month — comes nearly six months after McDonald was shot 16 times outside a fast-food restaurant on the Southwest Side.

The family has not filed a lawsuit......
Whoa whoa whoa....stop right there. So there's been no trial, no depositions, no evidence introduced pro or con....the facts remain that he lunged at a police officer with a knife and got shot for his actions - no one has even contested this - and his "estate" is going to get $5 million?

Someone want to explain this one to us? What, we shot him "too many" times? Now we're going to make officers judge how much lead and copper is going into the central nervous system of someone who will happily gut us? What the fuck? Dean, if you aren't going to speak up, how about Garry? This is fucking nutty.

Huge payouts on justifiable shootings?

This is crazy.

New Ghetto Lottery game. Laquan is left to be raised by wolves, does the inevitable, and fambly gets more money than working people will see in several lifetimes.

I shouldn't be surprised. Today, you can get disability payments for merely being unwilling to speak English.

With the recent police shooting in North Charleston, South Carolina and the beating of an offender in Southern California always be aware that: there may be a camera on you at all times. The media is taping us from a helicopter and the lying piece of liberal shit media is not our best friends.

A week ago I was on a traffic stop and I look 25 feet away from me and what do I see? I see someone video taping me with their smart phone on the other side of the street. Three days ago I write a car a parker and my partner tells me that a woman from the second floor is taping us. I go outside and sure enough, she is still taping us. There are cameras every where. Just do your job as if a camera is on you at all times.

You have to love how the media writes these stories. They make it seem as if the police officers did something wrong, our so called union has undue extreme influence and city hall's hands are tied and they can't do anything but pay out these settlements. Nothing could be further from the truth. But then again this feels so Orwellian. The media goes to bat for these politicians that they put Pravda to shame. Note- Pravda was the official Russian news agency of the communist party and the official mouth piece of the communist regime.

Watching how the city just pays offenders families this kind of money is causing a precedence in the self-defense cases. I'm retired and a conversation the other day occurred dealing with deadly force other then a peace officers use of force. In the group, there was an EX-ASA, two coppers, retired ATF, and three citizens with no law enforcement experience. The question and scenario; that you use deadly force under justifiable circumstances and you're a civilian. The Bad Guy is shot and dead, you are in a remote area and no one is present and no camera's. What do you do? (a) call police and fire and cooperate with the investigation after seeking counsel: (b) just leave:

Most picked (a), however Ex-ASA picked (b). ASA said you're not involved in a traffic accident and obligated to stay on the scene. An act of defending yourself does not have these obligations. There is not a law on the books that say you have to stay on the scene after defending yourself with force. Obstruction of justice does not apply because you are the victim. If you stay, you will most likely face a wrongful death lawsuit. The Bad Guy's family because of the actions of the City of Chicago has caused precedence in this area and you have a good chance of losing everything. He said, even if you are found as the shooter, there are many stories to tell. Dead men tell no tails. After hearing this from a prosecutor, I'm considering this as an alternate way to react. If you are likely to shoot someone it will be in a urban or suburban environment. There are loads of cameras every where.

Conceal carry is a good thing. But it won't solve all of our problems. The bad guys are more emboldened than ever. The best remedy is to use common sense in order to protect yourself. Don't get drunk or intoxicated in public. Travel with a group of people. Be aware of your environment. After all of that and if someone still wants to harm you then if deadly force is necessary then so be it.

So it's a cover-up?

If the kid was murdered, the murderer should get his chance in court; and if convicted, go to jail, period, stop. I Remember Vanecko and Dave Koschman.

If it was a good shoot, then why pay out? Fight it in court. What are you trying to cover up? Drugs? Drunks? Criminal activity? I doubt it... Inconvenience some clouted clown? Do not know. Fight it out in court, let everyone know the facts. Decent people will support the police when they are in the right. No matter what, the feral will still hate your asses. Five mill will not buy any love from anyone. Just more hate and more distrust.

This is a bad precedent. Taxpayers, especially the police deserve better.

Everybody had better pay attention to this foolishness...

"Police Duty To Retreat..."

It's coming.
In some shape, form or fashion.
Whether y'all like it or not.

Policemen being targeted for agenda driven sanction for taking legal/wholly justified in the eyes of reasonable men, ultimate action in the name of the law?

You can bet your sweet ass...
It's happening already by the way.

Ferguson, NYC and others.

BTW...
The Police involved shooting in South Carolina that's taking up a lot of bandwidth is more aberration than common occurrence. Regardless of what all the tragedy pimps and their whores say.

(FWIW... That Officer IS SCA-REWED. Pay no notice to Police Departments cutting/gutting training budgets.)

Meanwhile...

Why not maintain the status quo by burning individual Policemen at the stake as a "message" to the rest?

It's a handy distraction from all the reports on the every-fucking-o'clock news about the male 13 to 25 year old inhabitants of America's Democrat run urban
centers visiting all manner of atrocities on each
other and those poor souls who were and or are foolish/ignorant/unaware/unfortunate enough to be in their proximity when their lack of impulse control erupts all over everything.

Heh...
"Brother's Keeper" and Eric The Red say they wanna conversate about this shit...

OK...
Let's do it and keep it hard, brown, stank and natural like a Muthafuckah...

Unscripted.
No cue cards.
No TelePrompTer.

A table, some chairs and a bottle of cask-strength
Bourbon.

All aides, go-fers, ear whisperers and coat sleeve tuggers found beaten senseless, stripped naked and chained together in the dank pissy basement of a Gladys Ave. burn-out.

"That's why we don't like you old Cops... You guys are too mean, too angry and full of hatred. Aren't there some kind of rules and regulations against that?"

Meanwhile, Spike Lee makes a movie...
>Snicker!<

The Police are the problem?

This is bad fucking advice. So if you shoot someone then just walk the fuck away? Do you realize that you just opened up more trouble for you by doing this? Stay there on scene, put your gun away, call 911 and as the police arrive show them your hands (with no fucking weapon!). Or else you will be shot by the police. Then just tell the responding police officers and detectives basic information about you. Like name and date of birth. Ask them if you are under arrest or free to go. Tell them that you are going to hire an attorney and don't say anything else. Do not say anything else to anyone.

That is the proper way to handle a self defense shooting. Not by fucking walking away! If you walk away, then Lucy you have some splaining to do.

Sport Fans, this is something to considered.

U can make fun of the last FOP 7 Pres all U want, but I'd rather have someone who is vocal then silent. Suspiciously soooooo silent this Prez is. It's always the lesser of 2 evils causing me to land about 2 rungs under becoming curious about our Lodge Prez.
I'm closer to the Massive 15 year step raise at this point. Company car, card, and a key card to the very special "Seniority Bathroom." In that time U almost become immune even bored with all the blatant BS of the gig.
This Prez has something cooking. Could care less if somebody uses that office for personal gain cuz they'd be the very 1st not to. Seriously, I don't give a shit, but when it comes to The Members of "Our Thing" U inform, be a sturdy retardant for City advancement as it pertains to US, and ideally throw a block when U know a City Stunt is coming. Bottom line, and especially the Coppers in Patrol, protect us.
This is scary cuz there's an awful lot of silence from FOP Lodge 7. It's deafening!

Some people cannot even name everyday objects, or think more than a few seconds ahead.

Don't give them too much credit.

For those of you who are interested in the scenario of killing someone in self defense and just walking away without reporting it, here is the Illinois statute on concealment of a homicide. It looks like concealment requires an act more than just failing to report. I think you're still going to end up hiring an attorney when all is said and done.

(720 ILCS 5/9-3.4) (was 720 ILCS 5/9-3.1)
Sec. 9-3.4. Concealment of homicidal death.
(a) A person commits the offense of concealment of homicidal death when he or she knowingly conceals the death of any other person with knowledge that such other person has died by homicidal means.
(b) Nothing in this Section prevents the defendant from also being charged with and tried for the first degree murder, second degree murder, or involuntary manslaughter of the person whose death is concealed.
(b-5) For purposes of this Section:
"Conceal" means the performing of some act or acts for the purpose of preventing or delaying the discovery of a death by homicidal means. "Conceal" means something more than simply withholding knowledge or failing to disclose information.
"Homicidal means" means any act or acts, lawful or unlawful, of a person that cause the death of another person.
(c) Sentence. Concealment of homicidal death is a Class 3 felony.
(Source: P.A. 96-710, eff. 1-1-10.)

Off topic kinda- We all have seen the video of the police shooting in South Carolina and now tonight another video was released from California,it shows deputies beating a guy who stole a horse and then fell off it,10 deputies were basically put on desk duty, the video looks bad, boys and girls, big brother is everywhere, the heat is on cops everywhere, just do your job,be careful and use common sense, btw dude has a long rap sheet and his own mother said she runs from the police, they appear to be white trash that's gonna get some green.

4/11/2015 01:22:00 AM

---------------

Dude could be a total jackoff... does not give the police the right to do some street justice on him, this is not the 1970s, or 80s when that stuff was cool as ice. If you get your dick in a bind, you deserve it.

what 10:32 said. Make an anonymous call and tell them where the body is; this ends concealment of a hom. This really got me thinking, wrongful death lawsuits and all. This is the wrong way to handle a shooting granted, but this may be the other way under circumstances beyond your control.

4/11/2015 11:37:00 PM

Hom/area 2/retired
This occurred when Joey D was the chief of detectives. Two uniformed officers saw a burglary in-progress and gave chase. During the chase one of the officers saw offender fleeing with a gun. The officer shot at the offender and killed him. When the officers approached the now deceased offender, no gun was located. The officers panicked and fled in their marked vehicle. The offender was a male/black with an extensive arrest record. When other police units arrived, a gun is found some ten feet to the right of the body. A canvass is done and a witness comes out of the wood work. He tells responders, CPD shot the deceased and fled in a police vehicle. The Chief of Det's Joey D took over the investigation. After an extensive investigation Joey D eliminated all but two officers. These two officers were grilled for hours, but denied having anything to do with the shooting. The Chief directed Detectives to conduct a line-up and have the witness view the two officers. A Desk Sgt. who was a couple of weeks away from retiring, over heard Chief Joey D telling the witness where the suspected officers were going to be standing. The Desk Sgt. told the Chief if he conducted this line-up in this manner, he was going to call for a Federal Investigation. The witness viewed the line-up after officers were told to stand in any position they want too. Witness was unable to make a positive ID. These officers were involved and kept to the same story and did not give into the pressure. Other then a CPD shooting walk away, I've never handled a civilian walk away. Every shooting is different, you have to try and do the right thing. Let your conscious be your guide if you have one.

Well, I have. Shot placement is much more important than what type of hot or heavy round goes down range.

Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria, whose assassination started WWI, and his wife were both shot in their open car by an assassin with a semi-auto pistol firing .380 ACP. The archduke and his wife were shot once each. Both were fatal wounds. It took each less than an hour to die. They both bled out.

No big caliber, no hollow point, nothing fancy. Just two fatal wounds that preceded all the countries of Europe declaring war on each other in the ensuing several weeks.

More than 9 million combatants and 7 million civilians died as a result of the war. Those two .380 rounds started a lot of shit.

Do yourselves a favor and look up foot pounds of energy and how to calculate it. You are arguing over numbers that mean nothing in that the pistol rounds of any caliber you speak of don't introduce hydrostatic shock. Saying one is better because it's a hundredth of an inch greater in diameter or travels a few hundred feet per second faster means absolutely nothing.

With the clear-up rate around 30%, me think I walk-away. Multi murders occurring all over the place and you think there would be a major investigation of a dead shithead with a rap-sheet??? I carry a revolver because you don't have to worry about the empty case. If a good shooting and there are witnesses, then I stay and deal with the consequences.

On pistole calibre, carry the biggest gun you can shoot well and you won't go wrong. On hydrostatic shock, this did not occur until smokeless powder was used and rifle bullets were traveling 2000 plus fps. Information came form U.S. Army medical manual during battles at San Juan Hill. The opponents used 7mm Mauser's in that battle. Medical personnel observed tissue damage much larger then bullet hole and concluded velocities 2000-plus fps for the wound damage observed.

4/11/2015 08:23:00 AM

Get used to it. Unless you want to try long forming someone for surreptitiously recording the police.

Personally I don't give a flying f"@&) if someone videos me writing a Parker. Happens to me every day because some busybody has nothing better to do or doesn't understand what's going on because it's none of their damn business.

Thank god Finance finally told us we can just walk away if the person asking "why are you ticketing that vehicle" if they don't own the vehicle.

I grew up in that neighborhood. It was NEVER like that pre early 90s. I'm sorry but the people who moved into that neighborhood are just fulfilling a stereotype. Whites move out, other poorer races move in, it goes to shit. What bugs me is now that the video is released, everyone wants to riot. Why not riot against gangbangers and thugs who cause these problems? Why not get pissed at the useless fucks who cause the stereotype to keep on rolling? I moved to the SW burbs and could care less if I live next to a black, hispanic, Asian. I do care if they are ghetto thugs with no job, no respect, loud, throwing gang signs, using their race as an excuse to be assholes. I'm sick of it. But if I say I'm sick of it, then I'm racist. The cop should have never fired 16 rounds into the kid but shooting him? No problem there. Act like a criminal, don't listen to the police, get shot. Tough shit.
