We Can Hardly Wait!!!

  • Mayor Rahm Emanuel predicted Friday that the Illinois General Assembly’s spring session would run into overtime and culminate in a “mega-megadeal,” exhorting supporters to join him in fending off Gov. Bruce Rauner’s doomsday budget cuts.

“I don’t have enough resources in the city, even in a good budget, to make up for an absent state partnership,” Emanuel said during a conference call with hundreds of business, community and religious leaders who helped re-elect him.

“Everybody can high-five each other and get a cup of coffee, but turn this energy into fighting the state. Your voices can’t be quieted and put to the side. Stay engaged so what we built politically in the last six weeks stays activated around issues.”

Emanuel noted that spring sessions normally end with a “megadeal” hammered out behind closed doors in the final 48 hours.
We're sure this will be just like the other deals that have slowly (then rapidly) driven Illinois into some $100 billion in debt.

And you think the Bond Ratings are Bad Now?

Those smart financial deals from a few years ago are bout to blow gaping holes in everybody's budgets.

By the way if your retirment fund is holding any IL, CA, Ny, MA, MD, or NJ muni bonds? WHY?

Raise the minimum retirement age to help solve the pension crisis. Perhaps even raise the maximum retirement age to 67. There's always a few who never want to retire.

With all these states and cities in crisis, why is the government still giving out foreign aid? How about help ourselves first, instead of some third world nation.

"We're sure this will be just like the other deals that have slowly (then rapidly) driven Illinois into some $100 billion in debt." -- SCC

Rauner will cut funding for indigent burials, opposes a slight increase in money paid to people on jury duty, and is attacking respite care, paratransit, food subsidies, and other help for the truly needy. Attack directed against the bottom, not towards the top where billions are slid under the table to the connected.

You're right. Illinois' downward spiral will continue.

Yea. Chicago needs "state partnership" so it can give millions of $$$ to the "estates" of felons killed in the commission of attempted murder.

As soon as he spins his message that the white racists and years of oppression are the cause of all the problems in the black community the liberals will welcome him back with open arms.

Hey it is not because are NEW MAYOR, Rahm with an all new attitude who is now kissing the asses of all of the black REVS and POLS. doesn't want to pay into our Pension fund but he needs that money to passify the unfortunate areas that are picked on by racist Spanish and white police. notice there is never a real problem with black officers because the city just hired them because they didn't have enough white guys. yeah right, well I am a retired SGT. who had many black officers working with me and they loved this job and couldn't stand some of the crap that their own kind pulled. talk about getting the shaft, this poor Klouseman ladie whose son was killed by Daleys' nephew will only collect $250,000 because the judge ruled the time ran out. BULLSHIT, boy I would really love to see it rain SHIT on the entire Daley Clan, a bunch of prividged just like the Kennedy family.

Some of us forced to leave at 63 really did a good job for the department and I say raise the age to 65, then ask those who stay after 60 if they want to work inside and let all of these young crybabies hit the street.

Rauner isn't going to do shit. He can't. Madigan and Cullerton have veto-proof majorities in both houses of the legislature. Whatever gets done will only be because they (especially Madigan) decide they want it to.

Rauner is a mere .1%er figurehead. Hell, at least Obama can stop things from becoming law. Rauner can only sit and watch, and say, "Pleeeeeeeeeaase???"
