Preib Article

The City Council tries to pass a non-binding resolution to deny Spike Lee $3 million in tax breaks because they're "offended" by his movie's working title "Chiraq," but they shit all over themselves running to approve $5.5 million for "torture victims" despite there being no proof or court decisions ever backing a single claim of torture.

Martin Preib goes to town on the People's Law Office, G. Flint Taylor and their long-buried connections to the Weather Underground police murderers. Go read it all - we wouldn't even know where to begin quoting it all.

I thought the news folks and various lawyers have established that the CPD maintained a black site where prisoners were taken and confessions tortured out of them. If the City is willing to pay millions in reparations to these victims it must be so. So far as Chiraq goes, you have to admit that Chicago is getting a reputation for violence and murder.

Outstanding work to spread the truth by a real journalist. For everyone who thinks Burge doesn't affect them because that was a generation ago, Jon Loevy, Flint Taylor and others are alive and well and will stop at nothing to get punitive damages from your bank account. That money for your kid's private school? Even though you did nothing wrong, it will be going to Jon Loevy's hairdresser. The FOP and PBPA need to stand up and fight for what's right! WHERE ARE THEY?!?!?! Thank you, Martin Preib!

Almost as if he is throwing money around so there will not be any left to make that big pension payment. Then he will just blame the police for the lack of funds and the reason taxes went up.

Poor John Burge is still being dragged through the mud and now part of the reparations is that they want to teach this to school children?!

Chiraq is a good title and very descriptive.

Not a fan of Spike Lee, but it could be a good movie if he really tells it like it is.

Will that hurt Chicago's "reputation"????

HEY - Should have thought about that when they started pussifying the CPD.

Weis was a mis-hire. McCarthy was a mis-hire. CPD Leadership is an oxymoron. (so is FOP if you want to add in that)

All the merit promotions to people who couldn't man the fryers at McDonald's if they had to find a real job didn't help either.

A movie title is disgusting? What about a person put into a leadership position who can't lead, but expects everyone to follow all their petty initiatives?

If the City Council wants to make some positive impact, the first order of business should be to cut down the amount of Aldermen to 25 or even 20.

Cut a LOT of Administrative and bureaucratic waste in the budget and then maybe, they would have some credibility in questioning other issues.

So what, who cares. Just don't go watch the movie. Let it tank in the box office.

5.5 million could help pension fund, could help police memorial could hire about 70 freshly minted officers.but no have to give tax money to thugs that didn't prove anything about torturous activities done to them. Was this done to appease the fake reverends the father fakies of the city? Then the entire city council stood up applauded the deal, like giving away 5.5 million was a great thing!

Not one news media outlet reports this as "alleged", although there was never proof. I wish Burge, or FOP could sue them. Someone needs to pay for these atrocities!

Yesterday the Chicago City Council passed a bill to give reparations to past alleged torture victims. This bill was passed by an unanimous vote. Witnessing this signing was the group of usually suspects. The aledged torture victims, the attorneys who champion this torture cause, and usual police haters. Who was not there? Dean Angelo, the president of the Fop, Ray Cassiano 1st Vice Pes.,Frank DiMaria, and the Trustees of the FOP. Why? Angelo has not said one word to defend the men and women of the department. Why? We need a leader who is not afraid to stand up to the mayor. Like her or hate her we need a union leader like Karen Lewis. She was all over the news yesterday talking about the School Board asking the teachers to take a 7% pay cut. Where was Angelo and the rest of the Fop Leadership? This current leadership is failing us. I am a old ghetto cop who can't understand why the FOP is not standing up for us? The problem with them not standing up for us is that our younger cops do not understand how this will affect them. This will open the door to law suit after law suit. This is why we need the FOP to take a stand. I have a suggestion for everyone: since Angelo refuses to stand up for us why don't someone talk to Officer Prieb into running for FOP President. He seems to be the only person who has the intestinal fortitude to take on the establishment for us. I don't know him. I have read his book and I have read his blog. Where does he work! What shift does he work? I will go any where to talk to him about this. Like I said earlier, we need an advocate for our membership. The current leadership is failing us. Angelo are you listening? Where is your oped news article denouncing this action. Why no news conference?

Troll, give off this blog. The article came from THE GUARDIAN, England's version of the Enquirer. They heard it from one of the idiots that made the fire bombs.THat place had a broken door a few years back so it wasn t the most secure place. And that 5.5 mil was to make the natives(REVS)happy.Almost all the victims were convicted because of evidence, not so called torture.

Is this one of Rahm's bright, young propeller-heads?

Given the state of this department and city, Coppers have earned the right to be bitter and what you call "lazy," could be the department-wide decrease in the
"activity" that USDOJ is going to hang many Police scalps on their wall for?

GFY...

We need to look at Thomas G Ayers, father of Bill Ayers who was chairman of the board of Commonwealth
Edison. Ayers was a radical communist who reportedly sponsored Obama for Harvard, and paid his tuition. The sixties revolutionaries, have taken over the country with the goal of destroying it from within.

Officer YOU can do it, it won't hurt, and no one will tell on you.

This exact request is one of the problems addressing CPD officers; everyone want's to stop the BS, but no one but Preib and select others are doing anything about it.

Preib would be happy to do it, but I'd bet that he'd be a little happier if YOU did it on your own.

Yesterday I off duty and was at a large retail store completing some purchase paperwork and the F/1 clerk, (who should know the company must have a policy against asking customers a loaded political question) asked,

"What do you think of that Burge thing?"

I told her, "They never proved he (they) ever did any of that stuff and those people they gave that money too were as guilty as hell. But you would have to know more than the news media tells about it."

She was a little taken aback by the response.
