The Downward Spiral --

Hungry, desperate Venezuelans are targeting and looting food trucks

June 05, 2015

"Caracas – One of the many byproducts of Venezuela’s acute political and financial crisis is food truck looting, a pattern that is plaguing the country’s highways with chaos and fear.

"Just last week, some 200 looters swarmed into an overturned tractor-trailer carrying canned juice — men, women and children were seen taking as many boxes of juice as they could, either by foot or on motorcycles.

"Drivers and even emergency personnel just stood by, unaffected.

"The two Venezuelas" (Las dos Venezuelas), a catchphrase so commonly used here these days to describe the rift between the poor and the middle or upper class, were exposed in broad daylight for everyone to see: the looters and the citizens.

"When the officers of the National Guard finally arrived, the truck was all but empty and the bruised and shocked driver, Leonardo Colmenares, 37, taken into custody for routine paperwork. The looters slowly vanished.

"Venezuela has spiraled into an economic crisis with basic commodities like food and household products hard to come by.

"What used to be occasional looting, experts say, is turning into an established criminal activity conducted by gangs — some of them operating from jail.

“People have assimilated this inertia on the part of the state. The government is losing social control...”

Indeed, according to the Prosecutor General’s Office, in Venezuela about 98 percent of all crimes are not prosecuted.

"...during 2014 the South American country registered 24,980 violent deaths, or 82 per 100,000 residents.

"These figures make Venezuela the country with the second-highest homicide rate in the world, exceeded only by Honduras, with 104 killings per 100,000..."

Got that, hOmEz? A country where 98% of crimes are not prosecuted.

Check it out!

We have been watching reruns of Hill St Blue. It is amazing how times have NOT changed. Bad guys playing the race card, mom crying he was just turning his life around. No need to shoot him. Police 2nd guessing themselves for fear of being hung out to dry by the press and reverends. Politics.

Our should I say how we have reverted back 20 years.

Stay safe out there.

FYI : There will will be a CPD/CFD charity hockey game at Mcfetridge Sports Complex located at California Ave. on July 10th 2015 at 1945 hrs. Tickets will be $10 for adults and kids free and tickets will be available the day of the game at the rink.

All proceeds will go to benefit IAFF Warrior which is a charity which helps wounded soldiers in Illinois.

It's also a good chance for those officers interested in playing CPD hockey to meet some of the players and join us for a post game debriefing.

Well, you could have asked nicely and it might have been okay, but now that you put your business on the blog, the d/c will probably tell you too bad, so sad. Good luck.

Yeah ... always have your resume ready when shit like that happens. Other than that, you can whine a little bit and then forget about it.

Hey dummy, he or she doesn't have to take resume submissions, be happy your Commander asked for them. No go crawl back in your hole, you'll be a P.O. for life.

Nothing says they have to open it up acccept resumes, the commanders get to select who they want. Sometimes as a courtesy they will announce if anyone is interested to submit it but unless you were told by a boss directly to do it you don't have a chance anyway .

Maybe you are having the same problems I seem to be having.

COMCAST internet is always having problems. Going in and out up and down constantly especially when it rains.

Is anyone else having the same problems with COMCAST?

They charge a premium rate for its upgraded internet speed but I do not think the upgrade really exists when it is so unreliable.

Your course of action --- also known as "recourse" --- is to let this lesson fully absorb into your total being.

It's part of the CPD curriculum known to us blue-shirt-for-life pissants as "Clout". Subsections of this elective include "Juice" and "Phone Call", neither of which you appear to have. And seeing that you must've slept through this class, a short review is only proper:

CLOUTED individuals, whether by genetics or ingesting genetic material of Bossholes or politicians, have JUICE. Their respective PHONE CALL has made them aware, with plenty of time to spare, to assemble their resume, two letters of recommendation from Stupidvisors and their Certificate of Educational Attainment. Long before the notice ever went up in the CO Book, I might add.

Now when it comes to YOU, they'll be able to point to the fact that the notice of accepting submissions for consideration to the position of meritorious sergeant HAD been posted in the CO Book for 7 (or more) days. And when push comes to shove, the White Shirts will swear it was 'announced at roll call for seven consecutive days', just like every other notice.

And now the ugly truth: had you even assembled all that was necessary and submitted a timely packet to your Commander for consideration, there's no way in Hell your packet would've seen the desk of the Merit Board for perusal, and ultimately promotion. The clouted chosen few have this shit in the bag. And unless you can pull a "shot in the line of duty" or "caught the aldercreature getting his knob polished by a 15 year old boy" card, you AIN'T getting the nod for that merit bump. The sooner you realize this shit is fixed from jump, the better. Those that DO get submitted that "aren't connected, just a real hard worker" still have to be pushed in one the front end, and pulled in on the back end. And it seldom happens as I've witnessed countless times over the years. Some really good coppers get put in only to be rejected by the Board in favor of some 35th Street Pincushion.

Start cracking those orders NOW for the next detective test, son.

Since you asked, Yes it is.

However, at Finance we will not issue a 9-76-160D citation because of the medallion.

There really isn't any other place to attach it other than there...so it's sort of a wink and a nod for all Motorcycles or Motorscooters that have a tax medallion attached there.

To 6/5 10:45-yes it's illegal to obscure a license plate. Do you really think that a former legislator/now city clerk would be aware of that law? Look at her role as Chief Latina cheerleader for Rahm & remember how she says she's pro police while Rahm screws with our pensions.
