A bunch of movement among the rank-and-file.
A lot of it was "clean-up" movement - people who had been transferred by phone orders in the middle of the police period and now the orders have been officially set to paper. But some of it was the biddable movement that is so rare these past months.
And interesting observation - in the patrol-to-patrol Officer movements, 25% were people leaving 005. Of the patrol-to-patrol sergeant movements, 33% were people leaving 005. That is hardly a ringing endorsement of the 10-hour day.
We use percentages because CompStat has taught us that expressing numbers in that manner makes the media and politicians squeal with delight over supposed "decreases" in crime and no one actually bothers to check what the real numbers are. We're trusting the same with happen here.

Nice catch, I'd love to hear from someone actually in 005 though. I mean it's 005, there are still north side coppers still stuck over there from the MSF breakup. Same goes for Sgt. could just be people looking to shorten their commute.

Actions speaks louder than words and if people can't see the obvious then I pity them. I also see that nepotism and favoritism will always be the norm in the police department. Is it true that CPD supervisors actually believe their own BS when talking to the rank and file? It seems that they either get a partial lobotomy when they make Sgt and then a full lobotomy when they make LT. I think its a joke when the leadership make their own rules for Merit nomination because too many people might submit resumes. I guess that's too much work, but if you had candidate submit resumes and their activity that would weed out many. Oh well, perhaps some day. Not every copper is connected or related to someone.

Let me start by saying Im not a Big Fan of Lt. DH (015) but fair is fair. Last month he gets dumped from News Affairs and someone pulls some strings and he gets assigned to Gang Enforcement, the Aup hears about it and says no way, he was never interviewed. Now I see a certain Lt MC (of the Royal Family) he goes to Narcotics? What about the rule of Meritoriously promoted individuals having to stay in Patrol for two years? Oh I forgot, rules only apply to the rest of us.
If you like percentages less than one percent left the 005 district. Sounds like an endorsement to me.

I know exactly how you feel, I had two separate denials from Telligen in the past two months that would have cost me over &10,000 out of pocket. I know I sound like captain obvious, but just request the reason for the denials from Telligen, and just keep a good record of who you spoke to, and what they said. Talk to your doctor and request that he or she do a peer-to-peer review with Telligen's doctor. Up to this point they've accepted responsibility for one of my claims, and the other is looking good. It's a shame that its come to this, but it's worth the effort.

Actually the rule is now meritoriously promoted people have to stay where they are assigned for two years. Ask Gillesipe.
Meritorious Matt can go to narcotics without having to put an application in then why do the rest of the people even try? Same thing with Eldon Holt and Mike Kennedy in the detective division. So much for transparency!

I just got a letter from them regarding a test. I've just googled them with city of chicago next to their name. There is a blue cross blue shield page that comes up with info. I also put them in the search box on this site. Got some information and I don't like it. It all seems scary.

Or less than one percent was able to leave. Real question is how many par forms were submitted from that district.

The Sergeants promoted in 2013 are filing a lawsuit because they were deprived the chance to sit for the Lt Exam. They reached their two years in grade but were still denied. The city moved back the test date which means they should have moved the enrollment date back several months. If you part of this group make sure you keep informed of the results $$$. They have a great case, should be interesting.

I too am retired and had 2 leg surgeries, one on both legs, Telligen was contacted and authorized both surgeries. they paid for the 1st leg, but for some odd reason they said the 2nd leg was not covered ,something to do with it being outside of the realm of my Blue Cross PPO. Be careful if you want to appeal, don't do it yourself, because they only give you one shot, so if you mess up talking with their doctors, you lose. let your doctor request a peer to peer review and most of the time it is then approved. Bottom line is the city is self insured, and don't want to pay, Blue Cross only administers the payments. Also, When you call our Benefits section of the City, you get people in Atlanta, they contracted out to some firm.

Is interesting that MC got to go to OCD though merit without 2 years in grade, but I guess what is good for some isn't good for all.
I'm hearing the reason EVERYONE is trying to leave 005 is because of the incompetent meritcloutorius Commander. He's got about 7-8 very, very healthy females working inside his front Office while other people with medical conditions push a beat car. Look at the amount of shootings and murders 005 is catching and it's only going to get worse as the summers rolls in. He's ABSOLUTELY clueless and listens to nitwits to start up different "missions". Telligen is paid by the city to oversee your use of the insurance benifits. They claim that its an additional benifit that they look out for your own good! I have had physical therapy after a surgery denied as medically unnecessary. The most recent denial was when a person from Telligen told my Oncoligist's office that the MRI that I need every six months to detect cancer was denied. She said that I had too many MRIs already! Their decisions always end in a peer to peer review just to make you work for your benifits! Maybe its a scam to get a doctors office on their staff more city money or just rahm being a little prick!

Nope, thought he was gonna be all good and slick and take the gang enforcement spot to focus on baseball. Supe caught wind of it and killed that as fast as he could... Dumped to the watch in 015. Hated in tru, hated in 008, hated in 006 and hated at 35th street.. Soon to be very hated in 015. And to those saying he wanted to leave news affairs check your facts.. He was dumped and rumor is because rousell who is chief of staff now hated him.

I work in 5 and like the 10 hr days. I also would not mind if we went back to 4 and 2 tomorrow. The work day and week are longer on the 10 hr days but the additional days off are the reward, not to mention that they are 3 four day weekends. The schedule is longer on your 5 and 3 weeks and the 5 and 4 week. However, those 4 day weekends are great!!!! The 4 and 2 is a very fast schedule. Your working days go by fast but so do your days off. The months fly by. The city would never give us a firemans schedule. Both of these schedules have their advantages and disadvantages. The city would save a lot of money implementing this schedule by stretching manpower. People will always leave 5. Unless you live in 4,5, or 22 their is no reason to want to work there. If you live in those districts and aren't happy, give 5 a shot. It has lower call volume than 3,6 and 7. It is not that bad.

Yep. You're a smart one. If I have three apples and 300 people want an apple, how many of them can have one of my apples? That's right, three... or 1%. Does that mean the other 297 didn't want apples? No. It means there weren't enough apples to go around.
Now, apply that apples analogy to the handful of spots available for whatever number of par forms came pouring in. Then, realize that not everyone who got to move was someone from 005.
So, here's what you should learn from this:
An inability to get what you want is not an endorsement of something you don't want.
