The more things change , the more they stay the same.
So we should get used to being in uniform?
Why are both Sergeants 5 feet tall?
Murder can and does occur anywhere, even the north part of Chicago. The hats look very professional.
Very true!!
Thoes officers look very professional!
Never mind the dead body laying in a pool of blood or the neighborhood this happened in.
Now we look just like NY!!
Mission accomplished
GMac
Lol!
That picture has GOT to be photo-shopped SCC!
After all the wailing, hand-wringing, teeth-gnashing and
balloon knot tightening about uniform and appearance
standards of late, what tacticool snausage would have
the temerity to so flagrantly draw attention to himself?
"Catch me if you can..."
OK smart-ass, you're caught...
Now what?
Uniformity, The Weather changes my Apparel Wool hat in the Winter,Cant go on Medical stay warm.
Don't worry about the crime, but you better have a hat! This dept. is down the shitter!
Sure! People are dead and a crime scene. And the dept. priorities are if you have your stupid hat on or not! My solution is don't get out of the car, drive away, and definitely not help around any crime scene!
Get used to the hats or get used to homicides up north?
Where is everyone's crown cap?
I live a block away from here. Two murders in a year. True Chicago values
You've got to admit that with all the different hats, pants, vests, and various other gear, its rather hodge podge...
At least the sergeants are following the new hat directive!
HARRY THE HAT hold on to your hat!
And the location is a homicide-although it was not street related.
Great strategy Mr. McCarthy. If CALEA is the reason why don't you seek ILEAP's certification? It's a lot cheaper & they give you decals for the squads, too.
The only time i wore my round crown was when assigned to a foot post since there was no trunk available. i also remember hunting several times for a lost hat-either my own or another officers. How will a formal dress piece of equipment reduce street crime??
OT: Catch the Dallas PD Chief directly crediting his SWAT Team having a 50 cal. Weapon which disabled the Armored Truck during the attack on the HQ. Hello Mr President !! A black Chief of Police stating the need for "military type" equipment? Would Mc Streetlight ever make such a remark??
I don't have a crown cap anymore and I've got no plans on buying a replacement one.
Fuck this silly department.
017 has a new commander....Voulgaris.....What can we expect from this guy?..
Is he a leader or just another boss? Is he gonna bring his new Tac Lt? A new mission team ,etc? Is he fair?
About time. Now get those goof patrolmen out of those stupid jeans and gym shoes, and into uniforms too. Bluejeans Police just a ploy by Management to squeeze more work out of officers, to compensate for Lack of work by other Officers, especially Bosses (married) bimbo Desk-Dolly girlfriends, and politically connected Clout Babies.
They actually look like police.
I don't have a crown cap anymore and I've got no plans on buying a replacement one.
Fuck this silly department.

Ok ASS HAT! Then you obviously don't attend St Jude's to honor the fallen? YOU are exactly wtf is one of the many problems on this job. We have it soooo bad? Try and go get a job in the private sector and whine like a little sissy when they make a rule change. Agreed we have many issues-pension, but we still get paid a pretty damn good buck to do our job and you're gonna whine over wearing hat? Most PO's on this job look like shit. Stop the "sense of entitlement" bs and follow the rules. Talk to some other cops across this country and see the crap they put up with! Unless you're one of those "I've got 20yrs on the job and I'm not doing shit" crybabies. Do your job and have some pride in what we do and how we look.
The hat is ok for parades funerals different assignments but not for working cars or the front line it will get someone killed.
Hat was wagon man in summer dale dist in the day and a pro model on tv magazines rip the best.

Yea. Ok, tough guy.
Eli Voulgaris is a good guy. Won't go out of his way to jam up a good Copper.
You guys look GREAT in hats. Bout time.

Hey RahmHole stay off the blog you putz!
I can't chase the offender anymore because I have to make sure my hat is on, right!
We just went back 30 years under the Supt. Leroy Martin days back in the 1980's!
Don't care about catching the bad guys, but you better have your damn hat on!
017 has a new commander....Voulgaris.....What can we expect from this guy?..

Are you serious? If this is true, expect that anyone with Greek last names will be taken care of. Also expect that he will import more Greeks to take care of them too (i.e. E. P. in 019). He's very aware of this blog, and will actually address things that are posted here ( he did it a few times in 019). He's nice, but clueless and inept. It took him ages to replace the tact lt. in 019, but he likes special teams, so expect that.
Who really cares anymore department is like titanic keep shuffling deck chairs, that didn't work out well on that unsinkable ship, bet it won't end well here either!
Enough with the same hat thing. Who gives a shit?!?! We get paid the same right? And whatever goof says it's gonna get someone killed. You sir are not living in reality.

And he's not afraid to be out on the street backing up his officers. Straight shooter. Went public at a CAPS meeting about how many officers had left the district and why. Went from being yelled at by residents to being praised upon departure.
Who said Paul Tasch the elder has left the building? Catch a felon? Not with out your beanie. Greatest deterrent to catching the bad guys, until junior came along.
(think I fumbled first post)
Aw, hell. Not a street roll call. Ofc. out doing their job on a warm night at a death scene. Will be plenty more to come as the summer months pass...
Yeah, there is room for some wash-and-brush-up, lose some of the sillier s__t worn, some need a new belt and top-line holster for better safety, but it all sorta dissolves in the backlog at 90 deg. F. and 90% humidity anyway. Cut some slack, support patrol in their work.

Exactly! I know people in the private sector who would get fired just for saying that to the boss. Hospital workers have told me that if they're late (even by a couple of minutes) more than 3 times per year they get fired- period. A businessman has seen associates fired for not having their suit coat buttoned. So realize how good you have it; you'd get a painfully rude awakening in what many consider the real employment world.

Well, at least you knew what senior was about and what was expected. Junior was just a treacherous, two-faced wannabe.

So that's what you learned during your five-minutes on the job? This Department's public appearance is a mess. The CPD is a para-military organization that wears a uniform. By definition, that means "identical or consistent". With all of the variations of dress out there, it looks like a hip-hop convention.
Stop your pissing and moaning, go to work, and look like you have a little self respect. Don't kill yourself looking for self initiated work. Answer calls, be a little proactive and go home at the end of the day. If you catch someone, great. If not, so what! The two most important things are to protect yourself and back each other up. The next important thing is don't be a cowboy and think you can slip into the 1970s, 80s and early 90s method of policing and start slapping the shit out of people.
You're not really earning respect on the street by motherfucking people, so who cares if you talk tough. Use your heads and act professionally. Be courteous and professional to people you encounter, and always have a plan to defend your life against them attacking you.
"What's wrong with this picture?"
Needs one more ofc. on overwatch, with his back turned to the group, protecting them. Check out a carbine, keep ready but slung down, and look at everything around but your buds.
Photog can come up and get a pic, that's fine, but it's the War On Police these days and something else might come dartin out all of a sudden.
Just a suggestion along the lines of Stay Safe.
