Cleared Killer Killed
- On the day he was finally released from prison after murder charges were dropped, Alprentiss Nash vowed he would use his freedom studying to become a chef, learning about antique cars and traveling. And in the nearly three years since, he kept true to his word, visiting New Orleans, Miami and Atlanta and learning to ski at a resort in Wisconsin.
He also bought a Harley-Davidson motorcycle and a 1960 Buick Electra 225 and completed a culinary program.
"He was really happy to be free, and he never talked about his time in prison," said Nash's mother, Yvette Martin. "He wanted to just get past it and be happy. He was overjoyed and excited about building a new life."
But on Tuesday afternoon, Nash's second chance at life came to a tragic end as he was gunned down while leaving a currency exchange on the Near West Side, according to Chicago police and his family. A person of interest is being questioned, authorities said.
Nash's family believes he was the target of an armed robbery.
Target? Hahahahaha.
- Two guns were recovered at the scene - his and the shooters.
- Preliminary reports are that this was a dope deal gone bad
- Word on the scene was this was the third time Nash has stuck up the detained subject and he finally got what was coming to him.
Not surprising at all.

He was turning his life around, and around and around. I guess he forgot to get off the Merry-go-round.
I hear he studied art too. Its cases like these that deserve to stay in the unsolved files. Give the shooter a city council resolution, not an arrest report full of charges.
Fuck you.
Fund my pension.
Ch 9 had his attorney on...the lovely and talented Kathleen Zellner, talking about how he carried a gun "because he was scared". Hey Kath, was his gun legally purchased, registered, and did he have his CCL after receiving proper training? Good riddence to your dead client. He served 17 yrs for the crimes he committed that he didn't get caught, and now he's worm chow. Now go whore yourself out to some other piece of shit.
Like it or not, "warehousing" some/many of these folks (and people) actually prevents them from getting murdered.
Look for the murder rate to continue to rise as more and more people are released, released early, or aren't locked up in the first place.

Same shit bag that had another shit bag in his car who pointed a gun at a po. Can't say I am shedding any tears for this clown.
At least he was free, turning his life around, and was happy. No doubt he died with a smile on his face.

Mutual combatants. Cleared closed exceptionally.
For a guy getting out of the joint, he sure had some cash to spread around...
I need those other report numbers so i can close the robbery cases.
I can do that because the clearance rate is atrocious! Garry has shown me how to be the police all shootings are now Criminal damage to property because My lovely exempt comes to the scenes and lets me know shootings don't count if you miss.
But if a window has a bullet pass through it or a car is hit make it a damage to property because Garry doe not ask about damage to property at COMP STAT.
Heaven forbid and officers who pulls this scam on a politicians house with a bullet in it then it is a HATE CRIME!
Sounded like the guy turned his life around in a 180 degree turn, but then somehow, kept turning another 180 degrees to get back to "business as usual".
Instead of blowing this off as just another "story of the Ghetto", someone should really study this and figure out why the guy went back to thug life?
It looked like he got out and tried to recover, but something pulled him back in.
What was the catalyst or trigger that brought him back to square one?
You can't make this stuff up.
Did the late Mr. Nash have a concealed carry license?

What, this guy have a big "settlement" through L&L or the PLO? Otherwise, how did he pay for three years of idleness, wandering, and dabbling, drifting from snug apres-ski lounge to playful pool patio as the mood and season struck him? Reads like The Great Gatsby or something.
Who writes these fairy tales?
LOLOL. You just can't make this shit up.
I love a happy ending!

You have to go to the New York Daily News to get the real story. It was a drug deal gone bad. Now there's a shocker.
Link to NY Daily News "Drug Deal Gone Bad"
"A Chicago man who served 17 years behind bars for a murder he didn’t commit was shot and killed during a drug deal Tuesday night, almost three years after walking free from prison.
Alprentiss Nash, 40, was shot several times by a man who argued with him during “a drug deal gone bad,” Chicago Police spokesman Anthony Guglielmi told the Associated Press. A suspect for the shooting was arrested Wednesday afternoon but has yet to be charged.
Nash texted his attorney a half hour before the shooting, telling her he was out job hunting, according to the Chicago Tribune.
Two weapons were recovered at the crime scene — one belonging to the suspect, the other to Nash.
Nash, a one-time drug dealer, was convicted in 1995 for robbing and murdering a bootlegger. He was sentenced to 80 years in prison, but always maintained his innocence, saying he had an alibi because he was selling drugs at the time of the killing, according to the Chicago Sun-Times."

No great loss, except for Kathleen Zellner losing her fees. Awww, what a shame for Zellner. He had a multi-million dollar lawsuit going against the City and the Police Department, of course. And he already took loans out against the settlement. Pity. Whoever loaned this mutt money better have had life insurance on his ass. Another West Side Story.
hahaha! Puts a crimp in the liberal agenda, doesn't it?
Phony Tribune story presents this like it was a terrible, tear-jerker tragedy. Only the out of town papers tell of the drug involvement, and how his failed alibi in the old murder was that it couldn't have been him, 'cause he was on a corner elsewhere selling drugs at the time.
The liberal say "what do you expect, he was wrongfully confined for so many years, it altered his mental state? Give his family more money for the loss."
The conservative says : "Don't rob people."
The other question that needs to be answered before all the "you racist" crap starts is, how did this upstanding man pay for the ski trip, the Harley, the chef's school, etc. I have a full time job and I couldn't afford all that, even after a stay in prison. It's funny how the media looks so hard to make black people seem like wonderful misunderstood people without even asking one hard question.
He had money because the state gave him $200,000 when he was released.

You didn't read the part about the financial settlement he got from the State, I guess.
Sounds to me like he was reinvesting into 'da Hood with the most important product everyone wants.
Texas has it right...
Some people just need killing!
@Anonymous at 10:56:00AM... Forget racism, it;s just an a**hole being an a**hole. Plenty of choices, make that chances, to turn it around. Okay so he spent all that time in prison. As he purportedly said, he could put it behind him, he received $200K for a fresh start and was looking to pick up a million or more from the federal suit.
That's not good enough, somebody expected him to work and conform as well.
No loss here.
Bwahahahahaha!
Alas. . . . . Another rose plucked from the garden of life!
More to this than meets the eye
He won a $200000 settlement for being wrongfully convicted.
Thanks Kathy, for corroborating the fact that your dead client was armed with a handgun.

In the papers it says he got a $200,000 payout for wrongful imprisonment from the state.
I believe it was Pat Quinn who issued him a certificate of innocence paving the way for a multi-million $$ lawsuit against the City and the police department with Kathleen Zellner as attorney.
Shithead already borrowed against that and likely spent the original $200,000.
But now Zellner's meal ticket be dead. Someone kilt him. Shame. Now if only Zellner loaned him the money and the case goes in the toilet.... Happy Day!
Poetic Justice: the reaper said, auh auh its time to go!!!
At least CPD didn't shoot him.
Now where is that outrage over him being shot. Oh, that's right, since CPD didn't shoot him there isn't any form of outrage over this murder. Wow, Jesse, no RainBow outrage? You got nothing Father Faker. How about you skinny jean pants wearing, bearded wonder bread Internet know it all. Why aren't you out there with a candle saying his name. No, I thought so.

The catalyst? What is that, a list of cats or something?
Just when I thought I was out... they pull me back in.

Does nobody read any more?
Hmm all the cash he spent, bet he got that load from selling streetwise! didn't know it paid so well! Why not just "obey the law" its been here before the Chris Rock instructions on how to not get your a@@ kicked by police and to obey police!

" He enrolled in a 13 week culinary program," 13 weeks....that means he's ready for Maxim's in Paris....Right? ♠️
How many case reports and investigative alerts were cleared as a result of this tragedy? A good day for the Detective Bureau.
Let's hope Nash's murderer, whoever he is, also gets a chance at a new life.
So the FIbune finally comes up with the real story, only about 18 hours after SCC posts what happened.
Live by the sword die by the sword...
Said it may times. Be careful out there boys and girls!!!
He was awarded $200,000 by the state for being falsely convicted and had a multi million dollar suit against the city which his attorney said will now name his heirs as plaintiffs. Don't you guys read TrueNews.
Karma. What goes around comes around.

Yes, the attorney wants her cut.
Cleared Killer Killed......made me think of Joe Friday.......Clyde & the Copper Clapper Case......many won't get it.
Hmm 13 weeks in culinary school. Is that the same place that taught Jesse jackson to spit on cheeseburgers?
Too bad there wasn't a "Gun Free Zone" sign to prevent this ironic twist of fate. Had Rahm 'erected' a sign on this block (that is, if he can get ANYTHING erect), no crime could have possibly occurred.
BTW: How were either of these model citizens able to obtain their concealed carry permits so quickly, especially considering their criminal histories??? WLS, CBS, NBC, WMAQ, I-Team, Tribune, HELLO???
This was the 3rd time that Nash had stuck up the 'victim?' and yet, the victim kept coming back to make more drug deals?
Sounds like two dummies should have been found dead on the scene!
