Shooting on the Kennedy Now?

  • No one was injured when someone opened fire on a car on the Kennedy Expressway Monday morning but lanes were closed as authorities investigated, according to the Illinois State Police.

The shooting occurred around 5:10 a.m. when someone fired at a white Toyota Camry near  Sayre Avenue, officials said. The lone person in the car was unharmed but the car was struck, they said.  It pulled over at Higgins and River roads.

No one was reported in custody, but state police said they were looking for a blue Chevy Trailblazer.
Why doesn't Ric Flair do something??? Oh wait, State is as shorthanded as we are. The highways are fast becoming a free-fire zone.

Shutting the Kennedy down for three hours in the futile hope of getting some evidence for a non-injury shooting that would likely not be prosecuted in Cook County anyways was very poor decision.

You have multiple tens of millions in economic loses....for what?

This is the real problem with Chicago's crime rate. It's not shitheads killing shitheads, those fuckers do not contribute anything to society. It's the tax and social burdens that these shitheads create. The medical care, the policing, the EMS, the "justice" system, the disruption of normal human economic activities.

Never let a crisis go to waste, right?

They can take it to the highways and keep it there as far as I am concerned.

These roads will become more like a 'Kill Zone' before long.
Recall a Sunday some 40 years ago...a huge Summer storm arose. The Ryan was flooded. Folks got off at various ramps....55th, 71st, 79th and the like, trying to get home further south. Viaducts were badly flooded too. By the hundreds, near-by residents swarmed out-side and attacked cars and families along the way. Cars rocked, shots fired. One young mother, with her family inside the car, was killed. Folks were petrified. Keep in mind, there were no cell phones or twitter accounts then to alert others to take up these crimes. Still, all along the side streets, with cars following bumper to bumper off the expressway, bad guys felt the urge to become demons. And it continues. There can be no good ending to any of this behavior.

They should put those guns not allowed sign on the freeways.

Is this a new trend? To fire from moving cars? And now the demon keeps moving outwards from the ghetto.

I wonder how many people were late for their flights at O'Hare that morning.I agree that while this is a serious matter, a non injury shooting that shuts down a major highway better judgement should be used, but it is the policy of the ISP to investigate.

The nature boy commented on the shooting;

"You’re talking to the Rolex wearin’, diamond ring wearin’, kiss stealin’, wheelin’ dealin’, limousine ridin’, jet flyin’ son of a gun. And I’m having a hard time holding these alligators down. Woo!”

Unfortunately you have to treat each crime scene the same. Sorry dude. Can't make that call that this one is BS without investigating it..

Why don't they just post the 'Gun Free Zone' on the expressways that should do it!

Just watched coverage on the ISP press conference announcing measures to curtail shooting on the expressways. Ric Flair was nowhere to be seen. The main focus will be "roadside safety checks"!!

So the state is going to use this tool to stop shooting or RAISE MONEY?? DUIs, seatbelts, No DL/Insurance tickets??

Will they use the Mc Streetlight approach and ask if you have a "registered firearm"??

No wonder Leo stayed in his office and didn't suit up in his "El Jefe" uniform laden with ribbons and his "wannabe Supt." four stars on the collar. In the past - ISP Directors found that a Colonel's Eagle sufficed as the insignia of rank.

All flash - no substance - and more $$$ for the state.

18 AUG 02:55 - Yes Sir! That was a crazy day & in those days the media reported it! Since the TV crews were not as Hi-Tech back then, most of the coverage was narrated. But at least it was covered! Hopefully - this will not be repeated with Deep Tunnel in place.

But if it does it will not be pretty. City Hall will be silent while the lamestream media will only cover the armed citizen who fights back because only "black lives matter."

Anyone peep channel 7 conducting random driver interviews about their sentiments of having ISP monitoring the expressways? One rather glossy eyed soul who appeared to be an honors graduate of the Leon Spinks school of ebonic speaking invented a new word that even Jesse Jackson could not create let alone pronounce! Even worse was when a female social science egghead social worker gave a plea for her clients who she serves. She presented herself with such a bleeding heart of stupidity! God bless all of you true servants in blue! Be safe.
