Slow Responses?

  • The head of the Dallas Police Association tells CBS 11 News that longer 911 response times can be blamed in part by officers being mentally beaten down.

“The bottom line is response times are up, violent crime is up, and officers are fed up,” said Ron Pinkston, president of the Dallas Police Association.

Many of the 3,000 officers he represents are moving slower because of concerns over safety and fears about violating department policies, Pinkston said.

“The motivation is a little lacking,” he said. “I think it’s just the fear of doing the right thing and that they are going to get disciplined for doing that.”

Pinkston said officers are too often being reprimanded for the way they drive during high speed chases or for the difficult decisions they have to make when using deadly force.

“The only way we are going to get this response times to turn around is get a different management style or get a different manager,” Pinkston said.
And this is Texas, where a high percentage of the citizens are already armed and willing to take steps when the cops aren't around. We're surprised no one has asked for response times around here lately, but Rahm probably told them not to, seeing as how the Department is down double-digit percentages from just a few years ago....or didn't anyone notice the $100 million on police overtime the past three years running?

In Texas, large cities are run by liberal democrats pretty much like big cities every place else. I imagine things are different for police in the small and medium sized cities.

Speaking of Chicago, there are much less officers now than there was 10 years ago. There are also a lot more calls for police service than there was 10 years ago. Just look at the amount of event numbers now, and street stops and traffic stops are down for obvious reasons. Nobody wants to get sued. Nobody wants to be on Facebook for some meaningless traffic stop.

Calls for service going up. Amount of cops on the street going down. Response times slower. If there aren't any cops available to answer calls because they're already busy, who's going to?

Don't worry, some body in Rahm's Administration is looking for some cheap foreign replacements. They'll hire some H-1B visa contractor to "temporarily staff the positions."

(Just think, no pension and no pension payments.)

How about screening out the nonsense calls. Take no more "anonymous" gun or drug calls since most are usually bogus. Anything that can be done at callback, should be done there. Disrespect is "not" a crime, minority areas should be told of this too.

(OT) North Dakota using drones to attack criminals from the air well how about Chicago? Less direct police interaction less police being sued a "perfect storm"

I know for a fact, I take my time to every dispatched calls, I follow all the traffic laws and in fact, the only time my blue lights come on is for a 10-1 only!

There is no back up from this police dept. or this crooked city!

At the rate things are going, fighting crime may devolve more and more on the armed citizen, defending himself, his/her family and property.

Drove by academy this morning, lots of empty spaces in parking lots, room to park around on streets, how many are working there? I know new class starts 31aug wonder how big that will be? Slow response! If you follow the general orders for CPD your supposed to obey traffic laws, you roll without lights to a scene and try to actually capture offenders in salience "bam red light ticket" you receive it and are asked to pay it! Yes even in a CPD vehicle! You have an "accident" your dragged through how much? Not worth it, bad guy wants to run away "Run Forrest run" not getting hurt or sued anymore! The police department has changed drastically "it's not your Father's dept. anymore kid!" How true that is! No more bosses with brass ca-hones,no more bosses having your back! Gone,Adios, see-ya that part is finished! policing now is about protecting "Blue lives matter" freedom, pension, job, health, family and Blue families anything else is pretty much optional! Until the elected in the highest offices respond positively to policing nothing will change! Will Trump when he takes office change things for police? He does promise to make our military the best in the world, and promised to help veterans at the highest level of the presidency, hope he remembers us also!

Just go "to the Wall" for your Family, and your Police Family, including retired Coppers. Let the rest fend for themselves. Just write them a report and go have coffee. Go home and enjoy your Family and Friends. Fuck this Job.

Classic Power struggle of central government against the provinces with the police in the middle [King vs Nobles].

The Police are being squeezed from the bottom by paid criminal troublemakers led by shiftless and talentless would be intellectuals [normally be clerks/office workers] and from the Top by DOJ and their talentless scum lawyers. This formula was used by the Jacobins in France and in truth paid troublemakers - paid for by the very rich - are ancient.

That you're still there at all is testament to your nobility and sense of duty.

We will yet see clearer skies.

just for the record I've called 9-11 about 3 times in the last year the response time was fine. About 2-3 minutes for disturbing the peace/loud argument/verbal threats. In Logan Square

Pro-police, taxpayer and civilian here, what can be said. Being a taxpaying citizen I'd love to say 'wtf? Protect my neighborhood and my family in any way you can. Isn't that what a chunk of my taxes go to?' BUT as the same guy, living in this bullshit city full of political games and black lies matter age, I'll instead say 'fuck that, it's just not worth being the kind of cops that used to run this city. You shoot one of the animals, your screwed justified or not. They're all waiting to sue for anything they can get away with. They sue, even if it's bs, your screwed. I support cpd 100% and I say only due what you have to and wisely. Wait out the storm. I'd would imagine it's easier said than done especially from a citizen. Just remember, you are supported by many. Maybe not the jagoff singing your check but by many that supply the funds. Be safe and god bless you all

Where's Rahm?

Who's Rahm?

Ah! We will see him shortly, either to "dedicate a new children's resource center" or to announce some multi-billion-dollar pork-barrel that will require the entire Loop to be torn down and rebuilt.

He come up with the 79 cents for the rubber wedge to keep the receiving door at the morgue propped open for convenience? Busy place.

Probably from people like this --

University to Students: Call 911 over 'Bias Incidents'

"A California university is advising students to “always call 911 immediately” over bias incidents.

"Santa Clara University says a bias incident is “a speech, act, or harassing action that targets, threatens, or attacks an individual or group because of their actual or perceived race, color, national origin, ethnicity, religious affiliation, sex, gender identity, disability, or sexual orientation.”

"Students who experience such incidents should call 911, contact the Office of Student Life, alert Campus Safety Services, and file an anonymous report, the school says.

"CampusReform.org broke the story earlier this week. News editor Sterling Beard was on “Fox and Friends” this morning, where he remarked that 911 should be used for emergencies, not because someone’s feelings are hurt...

Just for my record up in 016: My neighbor comes to my house and tells me her neighbors door has been kicked in. I cleared the house my self before the beat car got there in 45 mins. Remember, that's a burglary or a home invasion in progress! Do you feel safe? No knock on the copper. He was coming from a job on the other side of the District.

014 is still partially a war zone and still has coppers. 016 gets nothing.

This is nothing new. The default mode of the CPD has been "We serve and protect when we fucking feel like it," unless it's a 10-1.

Your taxes(and mine) go to firefighters who sleep and watch tv on city time, judges, prosecutors and parole boards who let violent killers back on the street, politicians who direct millions of taxpayer dollars to enrich themselves and their minions, water department workers who do nothing all day, streets and sanitation workers, detention aides who play video games and watch movies on city time, teachers who get summer and holiday breaks and only pay 2% of their salary to their pension unlike cops who get hit for 9%, 50 aldermen who don't give a rat's ass about you. Yet the media directly and intentionally attacks the police and anything they do and are intellectually dishonest and morally bankrupt and are only concerned with pushing the leftist propaganda.

When seconds count, Dallas police are only 8 minutes and 33 seconds away. Unless you are not the highest priority, then it's 22+ minutes. Wait, wait, don't shoot, just give my about 8 minutes to say my prayers.
