Make Your Plans Now

Especially if you're a Tact officer or low seniority - you will be here and nothing will be allowed to ruin it:
  • Look out, New York City. Chicago is ringing in 2016 with a big outdoor celebration and a twist on the Times Square countdown and ball drop.

The epic, first-of-its-kind New Year’s Eve event dubbed Chi-Town Rising will feature music headliners, a “visually spectacular countdown to 2016,” and a major fireworks show, organizers announced Thursday. The celebration will be televised live on NBC 5.
We're surprised this hasn't been tried before. The logistics are fairly simple, the amount of graft and cash money available for the political taking is extensive and it's during what is usually a pretty cold night, so opportunities for mayhem will be limited.

This could solve our pension problem, too!

But.....I thought the city was broke?

They ( well, the state) can't pay lottery winners.

My property taxes are being raised to the max.

I'm now being taxed to watch movies on Netflix or while listening to music on Spotify.

I have to take out a pay day loan every June to pay for my city vehicle stickers.

But Rahm has more than enough money to put on a gala New Years Eve event.

Did they say Chi-Raq Raising!?!?

First of it's kind? Not exactly true, nothing ever is with these boys.

Jane Byrne, the Best Mayor we ever had, held a grand fireworks extravaganza on the riverfront on one New Years Eve. It was a colorful and wonderful as fights of pyrotechnics seem to burst between the buildings. The rumblings of the thunder and colored lightning they produced was something you would never forget.

Too bad I'll be in Arizona for this one.

~Chicago To Host "Epic" New Years Eve Celebration Downtown~

Jayzus...
Make it stop already...

More breads.
More circuses.
More devilish ways to separate the taxpayer
from his diminishing treasure.

More cutting edge Fuckery.
More useless BULLSHIT foisted on this city
by Rahm and his cadre of propeller-headed micro-minds...

Tone deaf, insensate fucks.
Every last one.

Fuck the usual New Year's Eve revelry!
Let's supersize an' monetize the sumbitch and siphon
Police service from everywhere else because
Bee-Ay-Dee m/fers will be out in force.

No sympathy whatsoever for Brad and Buffy heeding
Rahm's bullshit and venturing downtown thinking it's safe.

We really hope that someone close to him gets eye-slapped,
phone-snatched and rubbed on by a roving band of "the usuals."

Maybe they'll pull a string and a cardboard city-scape falls away with a
flash and a bang to reveal a hobgoblin with 9.5 fingers and clad in a
snug green outfit decorated with black question marks and upturned shoes -
dropping trou and inviting all to kiss his wizened little rump...

Damn this city is lost!

Las Vegas has a very nice New Years Eve parties all along the strip!
Had a blast and Five Stars of fun!!!
Exploding fireworks off the hotel roofs at midnight.
The weather was great, light jacket if that! [Clear night and mid 60's degrees!]!
Also, you can even have a nice alcoholic drink in one of those funny containers that says Las Vegas on it, on the sidewalk, while walking around, without worry of being ANOVed for having "open alcohol" on the public way!
I had a great time! Las Vegas, it's worth the plane trip and you have to check it out at least once in your life at that time of the year! Woo! WHOO!!!!

Chicago probably freezing cold and snow! So cold your beer would freeze, let alone some nitwit giving out $100 ANOV tickets, for open alcohol to spoil the fun night!

Hey Chicago, no contest! Don't even try it! Las Vegas BABY!

Last time I was downtown for NYE was 1999.
You would like that CTA would have added more buses and trains to handle the crowds, but they did not. I had to wait for over an hour for a CTA Bus to get from 500 N. Michigan to 3200 N. Sheridan Road. Many buses passed me by because there were already full beyond capacity.

Seen the New York do on TV, Times Square turned into the Chicago Stockyards with all those metal crowd-control barriers (something Daley must have seen on all his European trips and brought back here) -- the crowd neatly divided up and held in their sheep-pens, waving harmless foam-rubber things...

Better off at home with TV and a bottle, clean bathroom and a fully equipped private snack-kitchen just feet away...

We used to get flak vests and steel pots and go up on the roof in East Rogers Park to conduct the "Annual Gunfire Survey." Mmm, full-auto bursts coming from over by Juneway again...

Classic move if you have to work -- get under a viaduct, essential infrastructure, and guard it from terrorist attack from 11:45 PM until 12:15 AM.

What goes up must come >ping!<

Rahm never seems to take family staycations. They are globe troting, and Rahm has some hack foot the bill claiming he is on a city fact finding tour. Oh to be the chosen one.

9/18/2015 11:45:00 AM

This problem can be quickly solved by replacing a fire commander with a police commander. Why place a retired fire chief in charge of the Aviation Police? Because of politics? Now the rumor is that the fire commander wants to replace the current aviation police that are certified as police officers with retired firemen? Why is there a conflict between aviation police and CPD? This could easily be resolved with effective leadership. But then where can anyone find effective leadership in this city?
