Officers Break Child's Ribs
At least, that was the headline before they got Mope-rah away from the computer:
- A Chicago Police officer saved a baby’s life by performing the Heimlich maneuver in the South Side Englewood neighborhood Saturday night.
A sergeant and two officers working “Operation Impact” in the Englewood District saw a vehicle speeding in the 6700 block of South Union Avenue about 8 p.m. Saturday, according to a statement from Chicago Police.
The vehicle quickly stopped and the officers heard the female driver yell, “My baby, my baby” and spotted a 2-year-old girl in the vehicle unresponsive, police said.
Very nicely done Officers.

saw a vehicle speeding...............Um, isn't this considered a "chickenshit" stop?
Good Job Officers...
Reminds me of the time when a child fell into the Lion enclosure at Lincoln Park Zoo. The lions were about to have really fresh meat. A cop nearby jumped into the pit, punched the attacking lion in the nose and pulled the child to safety.
The headline the next day was, COP BEATS AFRICAN IMMIGRANT AND STEALS HIS LUNCH!
Nicely done. Stand by for the subpoena.
It should be stated in this article that the race of the child and the race of the officers is irrelevant.
"...the only reason they stopped me was because..."
Only in this day and age will a "loevy" find malice in this action.
Nice work, but me, I'd rather just rather watch my back, it's the WH that altered the ethics of our profession.
Again, it's a honorable thing they did, sooner or later those recruits will learn otherwise, and that's a shame.
great work officers , you make me and the rest of the cpd proud
Excellent work officers!
EMT and Retired Cop here. Keep this in mind.
If the victim can talk, scream or cry,
then the Heimlich Maneuver is NOT the thing to do.
You might also look at this short video on how to do the Heimlich Maneuver on yourself.
