McCompStat's Idea Comes True
- A west suburban man was sentenced to 16 years in prison Wednesday for selling at least 80 guns to people he knew were Chicago gang members, officials said.
Walter Freeman, 36, of Lisle, was sentenced after he was found guilty of selling revolvers and semi-automatic weapons to gang members, according to a statement from U.S. Department of Justice.
According to the plea agreement, Freeman traded crack cocaine to a co-defendant, Timothy Vana, 54, of Forest Park, for the guns. He also admitted to selling about 7 grams of crack cocaine per week from 2008-2013, prosecutors said.
A plea agreement for 16 years - that's amazing for Illinois, but it was Federal Court. You send these guys away for two decades and you'll see straw buying drop off to levels never before experienced.

Amazing that the court would give out such a harsh sentence to a couple of men that were just trying to make good in life, support their families run a small business which provided a community service.
NOW you are getting somewhere. All those guns being so casually banged off by the "underprivileged" and "disenfranchised" -- you know, the ones with the three-pound gold chains and Beats By Dr. Dre rolling on elaborate, dangerous alloy rims -- in Englewood and North Lawndale aren't just dropping out of the sky.
Black Lives Matter says...
...but what do you expect from an organization founded on the precepts of an escaped cop-killer, connected to the murders of 13 police officers?
Yo. Castro. Want to run Cuban cigars in here again? Give up Joanne Chesimard ("Assata Shakur") first.
Deal?
20 plus years of illegal paperwork grabs from local gun shops, and they finally make a newsworthy arrest. Bravo, Feds, Bravo.
That amounts to what? About two months per gun?
And that ignores 5 YEARS of selling crack cocaine.
I don't think its enough time. He should also be charged for every crime committed by anyone he sold a gun to.
Good. An appropriate sentence.
Send them away and Tony Preckwinkle will be complaining like hell.
Fact or Fiction? Rumor is Mc Carthy is leaving in a couple of months...
These folks would not have to go to prison if the government would just legalize drugs. Thankfully our Dear Leader has just released 6,000 minorities from the federal prisons and returned them to to their homes and famalies.
Federal laws exist to punish straw purchasers, they just need to be enforced. Every straw purchaser needs to be prosecuted and if found guilty, some jail time. That would go a long way to stopping the gun traffic into Chicago area. An ATF agent gold me that most of the guns flowing into this area come from Indiana and Mississippi, but the anti gun people seem to want to focus on four gun ships around town. They make no mention of where 80% of the guns come from. I cannot go to either state and buy a handgun unless I show a resident driver's license. It is federal law. So, any thinking person ( and I don't include father Faker in this) can see what is going on. They should demand the feds enforce the law.
Next up is going through all the files taken from Khans office, how many alderman will be on the federal bus? Alderman word of advice step up talk first you get first seat on bus, or will you be the cowards and go to prison for years avoiding the damage to your families? Will we have to wait until a republican President takes office to authorize the go?
Another copper come on guys think! running plates for thugs? running plates for anyone? How many coppers took how many days for looking at reports? You friendly neighborhood hood store "Officer free pops, free cigarettes" is it worth your job? The complete story is on breaking news!
A former Chicago police sergeant mired in personal debt pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor count Thursday for attempting to extort a West Side liquor store employee by offering to look up police reports, license plates and other information in exchange for cash.
Ray M. Ramirez, 52, faces up to a year in prison when he is sentenced in March by U.S. District Judge Ronald Guzman. He was originally charged in 2013 with three felony counts that carried up to 10 years behind bars.
According to the charges, the liquor store worker told agents that Ramirez, a longtime Monroe District patrol sergeant, would stop by the store daily and often took items including soda, chips, cigarettes and laundry detergent without paying. He had also borrowed money from store workers and not paid it back.
In May 2013, the store worker asked Ramirez to run a license plate check on the vehicle of someone who had been seen taking photos of the store and might be working for the local alderman, Assistant U.S. Attorney Megan Church said. The request was actually a ruse concocted by the FBI.
A few nights later, Ramirez drove to the store in uniform and told the employee "he had something to show him," Church said. After the worker paid Ramirez $200 in cash, the two went to the parking lot and got in a marked police SUV, where Ramirez allowed the worker to look at the license plate information he'd run in the law enforcement database of his police computer.
Church said Ramirez then told the employee to "forget" the whole thing "cause I would lose my job and I would be fired," the criminal complaint quoted Ramirez as saying.
Has Tom Dart figured out a way to let them out the jail's back door yet? No? Give him time, he will.

I too, am shocked these young entrepreneurs were so harshly adjudicated. Apparently the requisite Bag of $$$$ was found lacking and they were dealt a raw hand.
Fact or Fiction? Rumor is Mc Carthy is leaving in a couple of months..
And Leo is said to be coming back to take his place, as he is not happy in his new digs!!
Fucking Ray, Ray made out like a bandit. All that swag thru the years and he keeps his pension. They should have at least made him pay back the soda pop money.
Affirmative action and "merit promotions" strike again.

Not a fucking one. Remember that the US Attorney's office is the same group of ball less lawyers that pulled down the wire on Blago when the evidence was starting to point to some of our local pols and businessmen. Their is no line between republicans and democrats when it comes to authorizing investigations. They are all afraid of being the next target.
