Evidently, they're giving out medical degrees in Crackerjack boxes again - this amazing admission quoted directly from the Fox Chicago site (look for it to be deleted shortly):
- Cook said her soon was a sophomore studying engineering at Northern Illinois University and had been suffering from some type of mental illness since September. He had been taking medication, but she said his classmates had told her he was better without it.
"So I told him not to take it," shes said.
A-fucking-mazing. "Just don't take your meds son, you seem so much happier and normal without them. Your 18 and 19 year old friends, with all their worldly experience and medical degrees, say its so." What the fuck?
And the out-and-out ignorance on the part of the media (and it's commentators) about "Why wasn't a Taser used?" Um, we're under ZERO obligation to meet deadly force with non-deadly force, dumbasses. That kind of defeats the purpose of the entire "preservation of life" policy, especially our own. But the media narrative just goes blithely along about those out-of-control police, completely disregarding that we are entitled to the same protections afforded non-police, namely going home in the same condition we left.
We've noticed the fact that the 9-1-1 call included the language of the caller being afraid for his life is suddenly not at the forefront of the story now. Now the narrative is the police responded to a "disturbance." We've also noticed the nation media outlets leaving out the entire "armed with a bat" portion of incident, making it seem that we just up and shoot mentally ill people.

You can't beat medical advise from Dr. Mom.
A lot of those psych meds start out with wild effects. Sometimes it takes a few weeks for the med levels to settle the patient down. And maybe a trip or 3 to the doc to adjust the dose.
But that doesn't get momma the City check. The one with a lot of 0's on it.
As for the responding officers being sensitive and trying to treat him, that is pretty difficult when on the opening the door he is swinging a bat trying to home run your head. At that point tactical options become limited.
The bystander's death is a tragedy and I hope the officers can get through that. Tough enough killing a violent offender. Can't imagine what it is like to live with accidentally killing a bystander.
Of all the stress in law enforcement, why is there no avenue for PTSD? It seems like the city rather than deal with those issues in treatment, call it a crime and throw the officer into jail.

NIU student killed in Chicago had several run-ins with local police

DeKALB -- A Northern Illinois University student killed by Chicago police Saturday morning was home on winter break, and also out on bail for a number of charges he was facing in DeKalb County after confrontations with campus police, court records show.
A Chicago police officer responding to a domestic disturbance call Saturday on Chicago's West Side shot and killed Quintonio LeGrier, 19, and accidentally shot a 55-year-old woman, Bettie Jones.
"We are deeply saddened by the death of Quintonio LeGrier," NIU spokesman Joe King said. "Our hearts go out to his family and all of those who were close to him."
LeGrier, a sophomore engineering major, lived in the Neptune Hall dormitory at the university, officials said.
Records from NIU police and DeKalb County court records show that LeGrier had at least four run-ins with law enforcement in the area, including three arrests that included charges of resisting campus police.
On March 1, LeGrier was arrested on a misdemeanor charge of resisting NIU police. He was arrested again on May 6 and charged with aggravated battery in a public place and aggravated battery against a government employee after being arrested near his dormitory by campus police.
A predawn arrest at another dormitory on Sept. 2 resulted in charges of assault, disorderly conduct and resisting a police officer, records show.
LeGrier also had been arrested Jan. 15 on retail theft charges, court records show.
I did hear her say that on the news. I was shocked that she said it. How will loevy and loevy twist her words on this one?

Chicago trib article reported "victims" shot by police in regards to this incident. The "s" denotes plurality, which makes the bat-wielding mental a "victim" himself. This is a more subtle example of the media's ignorance and bias. You know what though? That's fine, I'll give them what they want. I'll give professional and fake consolations and BS paperwork to callers but if you think I'm going to risk my life, freedom and finances for these ungrateful liberal saps, you're out of your mind. The public also believes every officer has a taser. In our district we normally have 2 officers out of about 40 that carry a taser and maybe 2 out of 40 that have been trained to handle the mentally ill and they normally are assigned to the High Schools. Heard someone in a radio news piece who basically said "The police just show up with guns and shoot people...they can't just be shooting people". Look, dumbass, I've gone my entire 43 years without being shot or targeted by police. You know how that happens? It's NOT by chance. I've had my fair share of run-ins with the police, for things that, while I may have considered them "silly" at the time, were legitimate reasons for interdiction, e.g. LAWS, traffic or otherwise. When this happens, I RESPECT the officer, and I OBEY them, and I ALWAYS go on my way safely.
When you start putting out the word that you (and/or your "race") is "different", and should be allowed some sort of pass on the societal norms that the rest of us adhere to (e.g. being respectful, not committing crimes, not becoming the source of "disturbances", not meeting police officers brandishing baseball bats or other weapons, not running away, not obeying commands) you're only setting up those "for which you presume to speak" for a difficult time.
Listen up, people who have a hard time with societal norms: we live in what's called a "society". We have certain laws, and certain unwritten rules. The laws are easy, they're written down. The unwritten rules, that means you have to figure them out on your own, without seeing them written down. It takes a certain amount of intelligence to infer what these unwritten rules are, and it takes a certain amount of self-control to implement them. Basically, what you're doing by not following these unwritten rules is you're showing either that you don't posess the intelligence, or the self-control, to apply them to your daily lives. Couple this with the constant killing of your people by your own people, your OBVIOUS ignorance of this fact, and your incessant, one-track blame of the police, the mayor, and everyone BUT people who look like you for your problems, and you are making it pretty obvious that, as a "group", you are lacking in intelligence and/or impulse-control. You are doing this ALL BY YOURSELVES, and everyone (except the dummies who are protesting with you) can SEE this, clearly, the same way we have figured out the unwritten rules. The family has my condolences for the death of their son but why would the father be afraid of his own son? Families need to be more involved with their family members treatment and need to investigate whatever illness strikes their family mental or otherwise and they definitely needed to stop being afraid of their own family members especially the mentally ill ones who need their help more than others.

It sounds like this was a medical (psychiatric) emergency. Why not just call the EMTs they are supposed to be trained to handle these emergencies? Mental patients like this, and worse, are handled all the time in hospitals and ERs without shooting them. I don't question that the shooting was legal. I question why the police were even handling it. Sure they were first on the scene, but just contain things until the medics can get there.

Nothing new there. They want to get Rahm out to get one of "their own" in.

Please stop being stupid AND nasty, take the free stuff we've earmarked for you because you've failed at obtaining it yourselves with your own wits and hard work, and STOP BEING COMPLAINERS AND THUGS. We can then go back to acting like you're our equals, and that you're smart and self-controlled just like the rest of us. You can go on living in our society as if somehow you are equal participants in it, enjoying the comforts and benefits obtained from and created by people who are smarter than you, and who, while not dumb enough to completely overlook your stupidity, are dumb enough to give you the benefit of the doubt.
