Anyone know if this is true?
Rahm has appeared at some roll calls to tell everyone he isn't throwing the Department under the bus? That no one should be fetal? That crates of Christmas presents are winging their way to Districts across the city to express Rahm's deep appreciation and respect for all the good that the CPD does year in and year out?
Last time Rahm appeared at a firehouse, he told the CFD they'd have to learn how to bleed. If he's showing up at roll calls, we'd imagine he'd be telling coppers they better bring their own lube.

Fetal. Something I would've never in a million years thought would describe me and the many hard working guys and girls I worked with over the years. But, it appears it's the only option now. Every time Emanuel 'wholeheartedly backs' someone, they are pushed off a figurative cliff. We don't need his kind of reassurances.

theory: Rahm didn't want a federal investigation so as to save the DOJ the trouble of uncovering his involvement in paying 5 million to keep video from going public, as well as interfering with cook co. state's attorney investigation. That is to say, telling alvarez to stall findings and see if his 5 million would not only buy the video's burial, but also any publicity regarding the entire incident.
Anita is now left holding the bag. She can't rat out Rahm lest she admits compromising her decision to charge... or admitting she was leaning toward not charging at all.
Lisa Madigan was tipped that Rahm was in communication with white house to keep them in the loop and move forward but also to verify anita's claim that u.s attorneys and f.b.i were aware of her investigation and were "working together." madigan releases statement that she "requested DOJ investigation (though alvarez said in her first press conference when she announced murder charges that she had been "in communication with her counterpart at u.s attorney's office) so why invite them to do something they were already doing, presumably for almost as long as alvarez?
Rahm got ahead of himself and said he didn't think madigan's request was necessary as it would overlap with pending investigations already wrapping up any day (investigations he might be happier with that leave him out of it).
White house and Hillary camp not communicating too well... Hillary doesn't give rahm heads up that the best thing for her to do in this climate is to jump on current bandwagon and call for federal investigation and oversight of Chicago police dept.
Rahm, white house, and hillary, communicate. Rahm "owns the confusion" and apologizes stating he "absolutely agrees there should be another investigation." Surrrrrre. the more the merrier.
Or is it that he was given assurance that Loretta Lynch and u.s attorney gupta have been apprised of the importance of another investigation, that will make sure to not probe far enough to reveal rahm's involvement in what Toni Prickwrinkle already called the mayor's "cover-up of an execution?"
Isn't it odd that anita has to go, according to the vocal minority and its ranting lunatic chorus, because she took 400 days to bring charges, yet no one has asked anita's "counterpart at u.s attorney's office 1. do they think anita took too long? 2. Why didn't they do anything about her lack of progress... or publicly state their desire to bring charges sooner? or 3. most importantly, how is ANOTHER DOJ investigation NOW going to change anything? How long will this investigation take? Will it be so short as to prove alvarez took too long with her's? Won't that beg the question of why they didn't do that earlier this year? Or will it take just as long and prove alvarez took as long as needed?
At the end of this investigation will Rahm be cleared? Of course, he'll be left clean. He's been assured as much by his Hyde Park inner circle. Just ask his newly appointed IPRA director. In the meantime all the calls for rahm's investigation are meaningless... there's no recall process in chicago mayor seat and there is no serious threat posed by a public that not only just elected him, but doesn't care, really, about laquan macdonald, or whether an officer having to be charged for optics and political expediency winds up in prison for a while.
As long as the fiefdom remains pliant, and the obamas, emmanuels, and all the billionaire power class is happy.

Rahm has painted himself into a corner. What I don't understand is that he came here with the reputation of getting what he wants and not caring if people were happy about it or not, now he is bowing under pressure . The more he opens his mouth the less credible he is.
These bosses that have been putting their papers in are only the tip of the iceberg. The department has been anticipating mass retirements by May of 2017. All this will accelerate it. The pool of candidates has been steadily decreasing for years and now they can't get anyone to take the upcoming test. I don't know how the department goes about recruiting, but I don't understand why with so many veterans with overseas experience coming back and needing a job that they don't do a better job of recruiting them. The veterans on this job have always had a head start on discipline and appearance.
Reasonable suspicion has been dying for some time now. It is now dead. Probable cause presents itself all of the time but has been manipulated to be "profiling". DWB, and all that bullshit.
I don't think VRI is going anywhere. With the lack of recruiting, accelerated retirements and crime levels that are going to skyrocket, Rahm is going to need it more than ever. The amount of activity that is needed for it is not going to keep the city safe, and the demands while at VRI are very simple. Why would you begrudge someone from making three times what he would on a side job? I got news for you, if the department doesn't have its manpower levels for VRI it will start cancelling days off and you will be pushing a beat car answering calls in the ghetto instead. Working VRI is not keeping the city from hiring at this point, there is no line of people waiting to take this job. The city doesn't want M/2s from Catholic schools, and a good number of those M/2s have figured out that this isn't a good route to take anymore anyway.
This summer will be Rahm's undoing. The violence will drive him into hiding. Remember this is the guy who was pleading with the DOJ that his department was fetal and to lay off, now he's kicking the fuck out of us.

Keep your dog on a leash and stay faithful to your spouse. Unhappy girlfriends and dog bites have caused quite a few residency beefs. Keep your secret a SECRET for the two years and you'll be fine. (That also applies to your REALTOR; they love to tell sellers that the prospective buyer's the police.)

I was told years ago by an academy classmate who ended up in IAD, that 1 year is the magic number if you don't have the financial means and skills to succeed in another manner. When served by them, instantly go on the medical for a year and retire immediately before return to duty.

110% in agreement, know personally of a CPD copper moved to Orland park, neighbor found out who he was told others, he was followed for about 3 months then called into iad and fired, union said "sorry" years ago you could do this get caught and have sometime to move back now nothing as trump would say "your fired!"

Rahm has always counted on that and counted on Deano keeping it that way.
WHY? Why isn't there a big effort to get all cops and their family and friends to vote?
FOP Reps should be going to Roll Calls as Voter Registrars and signing up everyone.
If we don't vote we are nothing but a cash cow we pay our taxes and they rob our pensions except when we cost them money with law suits. When there are law suits or police deaths they turn the tragedies to their advantage. Screw them Register and Vote.
Can't wait for Chi-Town rising..... Going to come in from So.Side and bring family and friends from the suburbs, maybe fly in Grandparents from out of state. Should be great.....hahahahaha! No way on Gods green Earth will I ever go near Downtown again, it used to be a great place to go on a week-end with the family and see the sights,Navy Pier, the museum area,etc. Now, I'm afraid to go North of 95th St.and east of Kedzie. Am I wrong to feel this way.....in a word NO! House is up for sale and counting the days til we can leave what used to be a wonderful place to raise a family. Let the " Inmates run the Asylum ". When the folks get what they want see how that works out . Hope the Blue Shirts can get the Draconian residency rule abolished,and keep their families a bit safer.
By the way,have always told our children when stopped by the Police,for whatever reason, to be polite,listen to what is being said to them, and if in a car don't get out til you're told to. I think most parents give that advice to kids.....but then my kids weren't the mayors kids.

Was a sgt got busted living in orland park and got fired. He's been working as a cop in orland for a few years now.
