Threats = Sanctions?
- City attorneys have accused the mother of a man killed by a Chicago police officer in October 2014 of threatening harm on the officer and his teenage children at a recent protest of her son's death.
A police dashboard camera video released earlier this month showed Ronald Johnson III running from police as Officer [...] opened fire, fatally striking Johnson in the back. Cook County State's Attorney Anita Alvarez announced Dec. 7 that her office would not bring charges against [the officer] because the grainy video appeared to support the officer's claim that Johnson was armed with a handgun.
A day after that decision, Johnson's mother, Dorothy Holmes, threatened [the officer] and his teenage children at a South Side rally that was covered by several news outlets, according to a recent filing by the city in federal court as part of Holmes' wrongful death lawsuit.
Of course, this is completely acceptable if it fits the current political narrative. Wrong is right, up is down, justified isn't, and assault against an officer's children is "sanction-able."

It is all crystal clear now to me why, "Ronnieman" felt it was an acceptable practice to run around firing guns at people/folks. It sounds like "Ronnieman" may have been raised in a house where his role models used violence or the threat of violence as an acceptable and necessary means to get their point across . As most of the readers on this blog know violence is an acceptable practice in the "hood". There is no reasoning with people/folks in the "hood" . If someone doesn't get their way you can be sure that violence will soon follow. Maybe just maybe if "Ronnieman's" mother and father were a unit that stayed together and raised their children properly ,maybe then, "Ronnieman" Or insert the name(s) of anyone else who put the police or public in harms way might still be alive today.

The PO should sue the mom for intentional infliction of emotional distress. More importantly, he should sue the organizations that held the mom's press conference. And also sue the city for leaking his kids' information. That will give him subpoena power to root all around the city govt.

What is so disingenuous in the press is the photo's you often see published of a grieving mother holding a picture of "her baby, who was a good boy" taken when he was 6, or 7 years old. But if you look around you can find photo's of the present day "baby" often mug shots, of a hulking thug flashing gang signals, and tattoo's.
And of course when the Media tells this story they dont mention he had a gun in his hand.
She was only making death threats in order to dismiss stereotypes that her community is violent, that's all.

Attorneys for a Chicago police officer who fatally shot a man last year have withdrawn a request to have the man's mother punished for allegedly threatening harm on the officer and his teenage children earlier this month.
The motion by Officer George Hernandez alleged Dorothy Holmes threatened him and his teenage children in comments she made at a South Side protest a day after Cook County prosecutors declined to bring murder charges in the death of Holmes' son, Ronald Johnson III.
But the city's top attorney stepped in, and the motion was abruptly withdrawn Wednesday.
"After learning of the motion (Tuesday) night, Corporation Counsel Steve Patton immediately intervened to help both sides reach an amicable resolution," the city's Law Department said in a statement. "As a result, the motion has been withdrawn and the matter has been resolved to both parties' satisfaction."
" On Tuesday he had said Holmes was grief-stricken and upset when she spoke out and "in no way meant" for her comments to be a threat.
"I will not be bullied by no one," said Holmes, who wore a red shirt bearing a picture of her son. "If I feel like I want to express my feelings about what happened to my son, I'm going to do that. And if it's a problem with that, I don't know what to tell nobody."

"You forgot, I love my kid just as well as he loves his 15-year-old and his 17-year-old," Holmes was quoted in the filing as saying. "What goes around comes around. And he can take it how he wanna take it. If he wanna take it as a threat, it was a threat. And I ain't backing down."
Holmes, who filed a wrongful death lawsuit last November, also took a digital photo of Hernandez at his recent deposition in the civil case and disseminated it on social media and on posters used at protests, some with the word "Murderer!" and an image of a bloody handprint superimposed over Hernandez's face, the filing alleged.
In his motion asking for sanctions, attorney Steve Borkan, who was hired by the city to represent Hernandez, wrote that her comments in the supercharged atmosphere surrounding the Laquan McDonald case were "akin to yelling fire in a crowded theater."
The activists at City Hall on Wednesday said Holmes is going through an emotional time and shouldn't face any legal consequences merely for speaking up.

Protesters plan to gather Thursday for a march up North Michigan Avenue, the city's busiest shopping district, for a "Black Christmas" demonstration in response to the fatal shooting by a police officer of 17-year-old McDonald. Demonstrators hope to mimic the Black Friday protest, which hurt the bottom line for many Magnificent Mile retail stores.
The Magnificent Mile Association released a statement Wednesday saying that it respects "the American freedom to assemble and the process in the pursuit of social justice. We hope that any assembly on Thursday will continue to be peaceful."

Wow! I hope someone besides me is reading SCC. People are seeing what happens to police, and nothing happens? How can I, John Q. Goodcitizen, expect police protection when the police/justice system doesn't protect itself?
Getting a concealed carry permit is nearly impossible, and yet criminals are always armed. Do I have to become a criminal so I can protect myself and my family?
I don't know what the answer is but allowing one segment of society to ignore laws, in fact encourage civil disobedience, and be rewarded when that disobedience comes to a predictable end, is not the answer.
So what do I, Mr. Goodcitizen, do? I will do what I have to, to protect myself and my family.
I still support the cities police, and I hope the city will support them again before too long.

MB did not live with them at the time of his death. As in so many of these cases the family had no use for the kid until he died and became a winning Ghetto Lotto ticket.
