Good question, Under (430 ILCS 66/65) which is the concealed carry act regulating the signs etc. It states in Section 65:
Sec. 65. Prohibited areas.
(a) A licensee under this Act shall not knowingly carry a firearm on or into:...so on so on

What this says is that the holder of a CCL under 430 ILCS 66/65 and ONLY those holders are subject to the GFZ prohibition brought on by the posting of the sign.
It does not have any control over active peace officers or retired officers under HR-218/LEOSA, OR unlicensed holders aka Bad guys and I am sure the deceased were not licensed.......

The scumbag robbers probably didn't see the "no guns" sign otherwise they would have went and robbed a store that allowed them to carry their guns inside. Violating the "no guns" sticker is a very serious matter to a criminal.

The sign did not fail. These two "children" are products of the Chitcago school system. Not only are they so poorly educated that they are illiterate, but they do not even understand ideograms. They were not taught that a red circle and slash mean NO. They were never taught what NO means either. They did not even know that they are not allowed to buy booze until they are 21. How would they ever know that they need to be 21 and have a FOID Card to possess a handgun?

That is the only explanation. Otherwise the No Guns sign would have worked.

No Guns signs are magical and infallible. They always work!
And that is the reason those two innocent young children should be still alive.

The sticker is bs. A conceal carry permit holder is allowed 3 warnings if caught with a concealed firearm in a location posting the bs sticker. At the time of your 3rd warning you loose your permit. I wouldn't worry until after my 1st warning.

How can that be if the sign was clearly posted? I'm confused. It's like you're saying they either didn't see the sign or didn't obey it.

So we have over 100 people shot in the first 11 days of the year. Any relation there to the number of street stops?

It's like the other day -- SCC I commend you for your response when the citizen said to the police at the crime scene "Where were y'all at" and SCC's comeback was along the lines of, where were the parents at who raised these young men?.

Let the citizens of the hood have the police that they want and they will get the neighborhood they deserve. Yes black lives do matter. Let's see the black community start doing something to save their own young and old folks and peoples from themselves.

We the police are just pawns in a dirty game of political chess. When crime is low (or when stats are manipulated), the politicians (ie the mayor) take credit for "implementing new strategies" to reduce crime. when it is politically expedient or crime is up, the police officer will be sacrificed to ensure the "king" survives. now that the aclu is playing the mayor in this game of chess, it will be harder to sacrifice the police because the rules of engagement have changed (ISRs). As "de-policing" takes effect, watch the crime rates go up, and we the police can say that's not our fault. We can't be everywhere especially since Rahm won't hire more police officers. We can't solve the problems of a broken-down, multi-generational social system. We fight crime and that's it. Don't be a pawn in the politicians' dirty game. Go home safe.

Genuinely stupid, uninformed article by some nobody here. Area press is picking it up all over.

What kind of idiot would name Harwood Heights as the worst place to live while ignoring, say, Robbins?

The guy actually listed Riverside as a terrible place. We should drive him out there, cut him loose, and see if he dies of starvation before he walks his way out of that marvelous Frederick Law Olmsted street layout. I simply learned to navigate by the sun in getting through there.

Back in the early days, Riverside residents resisted a house numbering plan. "We already know who everybody is, and the rest we don't care about anyway." >grin<

FEDERAL AGE RESTRICTIONS

"Federal law prohibits Federal firearms licensees from selling or delivering any firearm or ammunition to any individual who the licensee knows or has reasonable cause to believe is less than 18 years of age, and, if the firearm is other than a shotgun or rifle, or ammunition for a shotgun or rifle, to any individual who the licensee knows or has reasonable cause to believe is less than 21 years of age. (18 U.S.C. 922(b)(1), 27 CFR 478.99(b)(1).)

"Ammunition interchangeable between rifles and handguns (such as .22 caliber rimfire) may be sold to an individual 18 years of age, but less than 21, if the licensee is satisfied that the ammunition is being acquired for use in a rifle.

"Additionally, it generally is unlawful for a person to transfer a handgun to a juvenile (a person less than 18 years of age) and it generally is unlawful for a juvenile to possess a handgun. Exceptions are provided for the transfer of a handgun to and possession by a juvenile for the purposes of employment, ranching, farming, target practice or hunting as provided for in 18 U.S.C. 922(x).

"Pursuant to regulations at 27 CFR 478.103, ATF distributes posters to licensed importers, manufacturers, and dealers that caution against the transfer of handguns to juveniles, as well as the possession of handguns by juveniles, in violation of 18 U.S.C. 922(x). The regulations require licensees to display the posters on their premises. Some licensees erroneously interpreted the poster to mean that they may now lawfully transfer handguns to any person over 17 years of age. Enactment of section 922(x) making it unlawful to sell handguns to juveniles (persons under 18 years of age) and for juveniles to possess handguns did not alter section 922(b)(1) of the GCA that continues to prohibit licensees from transferring handguns to persons under 21 years of age."

They can be charged with a crime for entering such a posted establishment. No one else faces any extra legal penalties, those signs are an abomination and I hope the liquor store owners figure this out and remove it.

The sign is ONLY good to prohibit Beretta 92s. They must have held their gun up to the picture and figured it did not match.

By the way, did the company who makes the sign ever clear it with Beretta to use a likeness of their product? Did all those organizations who use that sign get an OK from Beretta to use that sign?

If I was Beretta, I would slap a HUGE lawsuit on EVERY store, building, and government organization that uses that sign. Copyright infringement, unlawful use of a likeness of a patented product without consent, etc.

Sound ridiculous? DISNEY does that all over the place if anyone uses a picture or likeness of Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, or any other Disney character on Birthday cakes, posters, party supplies, etc.

Unauthorized use. Pay UP!

Next case.

What news rag was that reporter with the No Guns patch on his back with?

1/12/2016 10:00:00 AM

Lol!
Seriously?

We can have all kinds of fun with that one...

Just find out who he/she is and put their dumb ass on blast
so if on that joyous day they get rubbed on by a member of
Dude Inc. at gunpoint, we can have a good laugh.

Police like you have no friends.

Here's hoping only poster 2 is an idiot.
There is no 'no guns' sign on the guy's back. It's the decal on the clear door, showing up against the guy's clothing.

"Wouldn't the GFZ sign technically also apply to the owner/worker too?"

No. Even before concealed carry, business owners and or designated employees were allowed to have firearms at their place of business. Just as anyone could keep a firearm in their own home even if now the homeowner decided to put a no guns sign on their front door.

Yeah, "liberals" are the problem. Remember that liberals are the ones that ensure you had a police union, a pension, etc. So, may you should do a little reflection on your dumb "liberal" bashing.

1/12/2016 11:33:00 AM

I was around when the Union was formed. I don't remember any of you fighting for Police Officers rights. I remember you fighting a lot of Police Officers. I remember you bombing Police Officers, but I don't remember you helping us in any way.

Get over yourselves and your "we fight for the little guy" mentality. Look at your leaders. No paupers among them. They have all done incredibly well for themselves. You are misguided and mislead. You sir, are naïve.

I get a warm, fuzzy feeling, too. As a retired female po, I know that the LAST thing anyone will expect inside one of these locations is me, meeting their attack with my firearm.

Totally with you. Retired female PO as well.

toughest gun laws in the USA?"

1/12/2016 07:48:00 AM

Please-please set everyone straight...including THE RANT ......Chicago no longer has "the toughest gun laws in the USA".

Chicago gun laws were thrown out by the federal courts in 2010 and 2013 and all Illinois municipalities came under the state concealed carry statute. A deadline date was set by the state for munis to pass their own laws and only a handful did.
Chicago opted to ban "assault rifles". After the deadline the munis could not enact new gun laws....only the atate.

Now, it seems New York City has the toughest gun laws.

The Store owner under the CC Law has NO choice but to post the No Gun Sign. The law mandates certain places be posted. Bars/Liquor stores the make 50% of their money off liquor sales are mandated to post. So the store isn't hypocritical.

The store owners are hypocrites. Nobody who supports CCW should patronize that store, or any other that has anti-gun stickers on the door.

With a no guns sign, your choices are, affirmatively break an administrative law, or potentially leave yourself defenseless against a cold-blooded murderer. God help me for making the moral decision, and damn those who hate Liberty and force me to choose.

Fail. The law applies to places that serve liquor on the premises, not to places that sell package goods.

1/12/2016 02:23:00 AM

=========================

You need to look at HR 218 legislation and review States rights and what the exceptions are with regards to posted properties.

"Bars/Liquor stores the make 50% of their money off liquor sales are mandated to post."

Liquor stores are not required to post, only establishments that serve alcohol for consumption on the premises and such liquor accounts for 51% of sales are required to post.

per your request:

"The store owners are hypocrites. Nobody who supports CCW should patronize that store, or any other that has anti-gun stickers on the door.

1/13/2016 08:06:00 AM"

So, the store owners are hypocrites for wanting the only persons within their store, enjoying their right to be armed, to be themselves and their employees, correct?

And the presence of a 'no guns allowed' sticker, informing potential customers of the intent of the business establishment to refuse to do business with anyone bearing arms, including those properly licensed to carry concealed, is a reason you recommend to not patronize said business, correct?

As well as any business, of any nature, located anywhere, whether offering goods or services, to any potential customer(s), correct?

So, may it be presumed that you, in your wisdom, have, or have had, or are now currently, the proud owner/ operator of a business, offering goods and/or services to the general public?

And that your business has not a posted 'no guns allowed' sticker, properly displayed?

And that you, as the wise and seasoned owner/operator of a business open to the general public, happily welcome all potential customers into your business, with you having no concern, whatsoever, as to whether or not they are armed?
