Those Numbers
- Seven people were shot to death and 30 more were wounded across Chicago over the weekend, raising the number of shootings in the city to more than 100 in just over a week into the new year, according to police.
The fatal shootings included two teens killed by a store clerk during a robbery in the Gresham neighborhood on the South Side, and one of three people shot at a party four blocks from Mayor Rahm Emanuel's home.
As of Monday morning, at least 19 people have been killed in gun violence in Chicago this year and at least 101 more have been wounded. This time last year, nine people had been killed and another 31 wounded, according to statistics kept by the Chicago Tribune.
So around a 100% increase in homicides and a 300% increase in shootings. Batten down the hatches and prepare for stormy weather.

There may be a recent spike in shootings but....Thanks to the ACLU and their demand to stop this unfairness called unfair treatment of people in the ghetto communities... with a policy to harbor crime by proactive policing.....This will probably be a small increase in shootings compared to when the gangsters really find out how much the police hands are tied....Be careful what you wish for.. Just think of what the stats could be if the gangsters were even 50% better shots...we could already be at 60 or more homicides already...They are just beginning to figure out about this ISR, and how much it will affect the communities... A big win for the criminals...And with all the papers reporting about how they want to stop even the smallest of policing mistakes... Which is a small percentage happen when police are aggressive about combating crime...Has made it truly impossible to proactively police...Why risk losing a job just because you made an error being aggressive... even honest mistakes can happen... and when they are on their witch hunt.. and looking to make examples... you are only risking your career... I used to think the DOGS on the job were the problem...BUT...Half of them are my bosses now...Who was the IDIOT here....
Arrest and charge a copper with murder for killing an armed assailant in the performance of his duties? Degrade cops by requiring them to fill out a two page report and give shitbags a justification receipt for trying to do their jobs? Placate to political pressure and change general order wording in attempt to put more liability on the police, endangering their livelihood and freedom?

It will take another few weeks before the president's common-sense gun actions take effect, and reduce the carnage. Until then keep a low profile and stay fetal.

I've owned guns almost all my life. There were guns in all the houses I grew up in. Got my first gun when I was 10 years old. (Still have it, a .22 single shot Winchester.) During my career I've carried a .357 S&W, a 9mm S&W, a .45 Sig Sauer and a couple different 12 ga. shotguns. I now own a variety of rifles and pistols, including some black powder rifles and pistols. You would think that sometime during all those years, (I'm over 60 now) I would own at least one "violent" gun. Its never happened. How come almost all violent guns end up in black neighborhoods? Could it be a problem with the "diversity" and not the guns themselves? (Gasp!)

The liberals are getting exactly what they wanted. Yesterday in 009 3 upstanding citizens on their way to Medical School were shot. The hilarious thing is the thugs were yelling what took ya all so long to get here. ISR would be the appropriate answer in this case. It's those damned Scandinavians, I tell ya...they love this cold weather. Makes no never mind to them if it's near zero with whiteout conditions. God help us when they bring out the berserkers with the battle axes and broadswords...then watch the numbers skyrocket!!!

Maybe it's just me but I don't seem to be hearing the term "gang-related" from the media very much anymore. The 9 year-old shot in the alley is one exception that comes to mind. Maybe a couple of others where some rapper with known affiliations gets his on the street corner. But I thought gangs were playing the central role in all this chaos? That's what the Cease Fire organization told us. And there was the documentary "The Interrupters". It was all Jeff Fort this and Larry Hoover that... Maybe the lines are a lot more blurred now.

What a stupid thing to say. Just because you coined a phrase, you're insisting it be used here.
Calling a fatality a fetality is basically claiming it's our fault each murder happened.
I don't intend to claim the rising murder rate is my fault. Do you? Are you TRYING to help the media crucify us?
Face it; it's a cute turn of a phrase, but you had your fifteen minutes. Leave it alone now.
