Rahm Lied Again?
- 44th Ward Alderman Tom Tunney’s latest newsletter has an update on the long-promised filling of 25 police officer vacancies in the 19th district. The update came in a phone call from a top executive police executive:
[He] called to let us know that April police officer transfers to the 19th District will be effective on March 27th. His staff committed to getting our office the official transfer information, as well as the total number of officers in the 19th District since October 2015 next week. We will share all documentation from the Chicago Police Department when it is received.
There’s no need for you to wait until Tom gets the manpower information. We have it for you already.
You can read the linked article for the actual numbers (they're down), but the bottom line is Tunney sold his constituents a $589 million tax increase for less protection and more crime.
Until Rahm starts hiring like the Department did nearly thirty years years ago, expect more of the same.

No. The bottom line is that CPD has been in turmoil since shortly after Rahm made his promise. The 25 officers promised in the first quarter were supposed to be those whose jobs didn't "require a badge and a guy" and we're going to be replaced by civilians. The hiring of civilians hasn't gone as quickly as thought. I know because I'm involved. This isn't on Tunney, it's on the brass at 35th St.
Another bottom line, the budget would have passed without Tunney, but he still managed to squeeze Rahmbolina for more cops. I don't get why people are critical of him for that. My alderman practically kisses Rahms ass and gets nothing in return.

Corporate Starbucks has already complained that the shortage of police officers in 019 has severely cut into their business.
The officers they are getting are the ones that work the bikes for the summer.
And even then, you'll end up with these new batch of multi-ethnic recruits that were trained 3 at a time by an acting FTO then put on foot patrol with each other for a year and now think they can know and can handle anything.

since it seems you are inept at even getting numbers from a commander you regularly call on cell phone I will give you the magical map how to do it.
1) FOIA request stating you want all persons deatiled out of said district and the amount of YEARS that person has been detailed/and location
2) invite a lowly Sergent who is on midnight's and just ask them to look up the actual number tell them you want it broke down by watch and how many paper pusher really exist.
3) go to the distrcit and light a fire under the commander as and grow some balls manpower number are not top secret and hiding the truth should be considered an IPRA worthy investigation! If a boss is hiding the truth what make anyone think he would not have ghost payroller or padded time sheets.
They did send 5 PPOs to 019.. But they're only detailed there not assigned.

56 officers are detailed out of the 19th district but they still count as manpower in the district. there are only 285 officers in the 19th district.

014 routinely has 3-4 down beat cars on midnights, especially on Fridays and Saturdays. Why is 019 special? Where is the additional manpower for other north side districts?
Redline + BLM + No manpower + ACLU/ISR + Cubs run for WS = Lots of mayhem in 019 this year.

Was at human resources today getting some paperwork, 3 guys there retiring today, not waiting for the 1st or 15th. Many are leaving and if your 55 with the time and you stay everyday you stay is another day you put yourself closer to a bad cr, doj investigation,prison,etc.. Talked to some older coppers "We stay for the overtime" as they leave all the pension money on the table as days tick by just a matter of time until rahm "surprise" removes all the medical from 55 and out! Then you idiots (Sorry overtime warriors) will pay up to $2,000 per month in medical payments guess staying was worth it?
In recent comments about picking a new Supe Rahm has been quoted several times that he's " deeply concerned about very low morale among officers"

Merit interviews were already done last year in September by McCarthy. Unless of course the new acting superintendent is going to scrap that list and create his own with his own inside people.
