Sneed hears Mayor Rahm Emanuel is between a rock and a hard place trying to decide who gets the nod as the city’s next top cop.
Sneed hears Emanuel, who still could toss out the list of three recommendations for the job and pick someone else, has been unnerved by negative police blog comments about contestant Deputy Police Supt. Gene Williams — as well as the very public mouth of frequent CNN commentator Cedric Alexander, the contestant who is public safety director of DeKalb County, Georgia.
Will he pick a new name out of the hat?
P.S. The Sun-Times first reported last month Alexander had emerged as a front-runner for the vacancy last December when Emanuel fired Police Supt. Garry McCarthy.

Alexander was openly critical of Rahm Emanuel on television.
Do we really think Emanuel wants to choose him?
The Dept candidate has been shredded here on the blog and is under an investigative cloud.
The female has managed departments about the size of one detective area and has cost her previous employers serious cash, in settlements over her poor decision making.
Just ask for three more names, Rahm. DeEscalante is reasonably harmless, so another six or eight weeks of him wouldn't be the end of the world. Just move him on before summer hits and all hell breaks loose.
Rahm's problem with Cedric is his love for the media and to give his opinion. How can Rahm the control freak keep Cedric from saying something that is not in the official Rahm spin script.
Smoke and mirrors, never mind about the man behind the curtain pulling the strings.
Alexander is Lightfoots obvious first choice. She's been leaking his name for months. Williams was either part of the so called " code of silence " or did nothing about it. The third candidate is obviously a throw away.
Let's be honest there isn't a supervisor on this department the blog wouldn't tear apart.
Da Mayor will do what is right and pick the best possible person for the job. He cares.

Cedric is pro cop and that has Rahm scared he wants another dunk or an anti cop Black Lies Matter type. The ballerina wont know what to do if the troops like the new guy and he is scared. Why would poor Rahm be unnerved by negative comments about Gene Williams. Knowing ahead of time that ole Geno is being investigated by the IG and putting him in charge of the department and then having ole Geno called out publicly. Nah, no big deal. Rahm's done really stupid stuff in the past. Why not continue down that road. After all this guy (RAHM) is not the brightest bulb. He's the mayor. As his predecessor proved for years, ya don't gotta be smart to do da job. Actually it would be really funny if he was dumb enough to make Geno the Supe. Watching him squirm publicly again once Geno was named for his shenigans in the Lieutenants test. This show just keeps getting better and better.
The really funny part is that the BLACK caucas wants a BLACK supe. They just got a bunch of potential BLACK Lieutenants that scored exceptionally high on the exam due to ole Geno's input and super secret NOBLE study group, answers provided compliments of Gene Willaims, but only if you're BLACK. Nothing like race norming. I guess the real question is when is enough enough. C'mon folks BLACK slavery ended a long long time ago. How long is payback.
And outsiders wonder why everyone is high tailing it out of the city as well as the state. The entire country including the visually impaired can see the corruption that engulfs this city, state & county.

Support Services (of which GW is the CHIEF) is a train wreck.....the city should send in independent auditors to look at that Bureau---personnel section,medical section- hundreds of officers on medical every day- ever call down there and try to speak to a nurse about getting off the medical????.... information services- cars, radios, in car cameras, computers, fax (there are units in HQ that can not fax out for weeks- and have more staff than working computers---unless you are in CALEA or FOIA- those dozens and dozens of folks are so special they don't even do seasonal deployment)...if that is how he runs Support Services - allowing support to hinder every unit in every bureau----why would he even be considered?????
I think we ought to let the NEW MAYOR pick the next superintendent. Taking a cue from the US Senate with OBama and the Supreme Court pick.

Doesn't this decision set a precedent for our diminished benefits?? Especially the outrageous increase to retiree health care for officers who want to retire prior to 55! Family premiums went from $800/month to almost $2300/month in the last 3 years! If that's not considered in the category of "significantly diminished promised benefits" I don't know what is! This needs to be addressed quick! Because we all know 55 insurance option will gone probably on the next contract....

Dear Mr Mayor, grow a set and pay whatever it takes to bring in Sheriff David Clarke. He is hands down the voice that we need, he will call out the anarchy in the black community, unify the police department and lead.

She told me that Mr. Harris has a solid CPD, Private Sector, and Streets and Sanitation leadership record that is unparalleled and that he is biracial African American/Hispanic. She used to work in IAD and on a Federal Task Force and she is a graduate of the FBI National Academy so she is knowledgeable and connected. My bet is on Charles Harris. I only have five years on the job but based on what my SGT me told he seems like a guy who on whose order I would willingly charge into a burning house where there is gunfire coming from. I like my SGT a lot. She is pretty smart and she is starting a study group to help us new guys do well on the SGT's exam. She has advised against taking the D exam saying that we should aim for leadership and that being a DIck, Youth Officer etc. are mere lateral moves.......She is working on her PHD from Argosy University. I once prepared a To/From and I went thru six drafts before she deemed that though it was far from excellent it met the bare limits of acceptability. She has told me that if Charles Williams returns she will be able to influence our careers even further.......

They should consider someone of a lesser rank , who ahs shown tremendous leadership abilities during many "situations" on the Ogden District. That certain Sergeant has leadership abilities few others can measure up to. I am talking about the legendary 1020/1070.

The Scum Times has been running negative stories about the police at a rate of 7 of the first 10 pages of their shit rag daily. The header at the top of the paper has a badge with "fallen Star" written in huge letters under it...thats been going on for three months now. I hope he tossesthese picks all out or that Gene The Dancing Machine is as solid/fair as some portray him to be.
Rahm, you cannot win the next election....so why kowtow to any caucus that has the sole mission of replacing you and destroying proactive law enforcement? This is a joke I take. Maybe some sarcasm. Your Sgt must have some time on if she had time in IAD , federal task force and the FBI Academy. That plus she has a masters and working on a PH.D., plus she is all juiced up, yet only a Sgt. Sounds like she should have been one of the three final candidates.

I hear CA is telling folks In Ga. that he is getting the job and then plans to run for mayor in Shy-Town in 3 years. Interesting!!
The prediction here is that none of these three will be "acceptable" by Rahm. The plan was to simply parade them out to show everyone that they are "serious" about change. He will leave Escalante through the summer to see how this plays out. If not, he will have another wave of candidates.
No new chief will be able to produce stable two parent families and create parents with the will and inspiration to teach their kids right from wrong, make them attend school, insist they do their homework, preach the necessity for delayed gratification to attain professional and personal goals, ignore the toxic Ghetto--and larger, for that matter--culture and treat others with kindness and respect.
A good chief can perhaps stick up for his troops. But those troops are now under the de facto operational control of wealthy suburban ACLU donors who hate the police more than they lament the the deaths of young minority kids in parts of the city they never visit. The scope of action of any chief will be extremely limited until the carnage becomes so bad that the "community" clamors for aggressive action and the mayor wrests control of the police back from ACLU. We are not there yet, but may be by mid summer.

Who exactly do you think votes for people like Rahm and Obama? Rahm doesn't want someone who says negative things about the black community, and he damn sure doesn't want a unified police department.
