This Sounds Familiar

Didn't we just hear this a day ago? A few days ago? Months ago?

Oh yeah - because we've been writing about it for years now:
  • At a Wednesday news conference, Chicago police officials expressed frustration that someone with Harviley's violent record was out of prison at all — calling the justice system "broken."

Harviley was paroled from state prison on New Year's Eve after serving four years of a nine-year sentence for a 2011 carjacking, according to the Illinois Department of Corrections website.

Chief of Detectives Eugene Roy said Wednesday that the officer was returning home from studying for an exam to become a detective when he was attacked.

In a statement, interim police Superintendent John Escalante called the allegations against Harviley "reprehensible."
"The fact that a convicted felon and gun offender is yet again out on early release to torment communities is representative of the types of individuals who are overwhelmingly driving the recent spike in violence," Escalante said. "Time and time again, CPD officers risk their lives to hold repeated gun offenders accountable and we will stop at nothing to continue that promise, but more needs to happen to change the culture of violence and increase accountability."
Gee, it's good to see that the Command staff has finally discovered that insignificant blog that has been saying the system is broken and hardened criminals have been being paroled and released back into the communities where they rape, rob, shoot and murder on a daily basis for years now.

Welcome to the party.

I know you have been saying this for some time now but it is curious that the Brass is now repeating it. Did the $350/hour consultant come up with this as well? I have worked with consultants before and it is a waste of money. Their findings are always what the working people knew all along. (not a cop here)

Isn't that what McCarthy said? Ha, its all bullshit. The sup says this knowing that the powers that be want it this way. Lawyers control the system. The more people get paroled, probation and early release the more they get out so they can go fuck up and get arrested again so they'll have to get a lawyer to fight the case, and then they go before a judge and everybody gets what they want. Everybody gets paid. If these repeat offenders were actually held accountable and locked up where they should be, the lawyers' money train would stop and you know that won't ever happen.

Lots of bark but no bite from the sup. There are limits to what he can say.

Now strip me, come after me and put me in callback about my "racist" F__ebook posting.

Real crimes , real criminals. They just want to say we need stricter gun laws. Well laws don't do shit unless you uses them!!! Does not matter if my gun magazine holds 10 or 15 bullets. What matters is if I commit a crime with that gun.

Look to your state legislators who passed these laws and also allow the illinois prison system to impose their own rules for parole. The prison system wants peace within their walls so they grant generous policies for time off and release. A shortage of guards? They even have been known to allow gang leaders. very special privileges just so the leaders will keep the peace. Compare the laws in Florida and Texas with Illinois and you will see a difference.

Actually, this is just about right..........Offenders get day for day good time per the Illinois Statutes EXCEPT FOR THE TRUTH IN SENTENCING CRIME OF MURDER AND A COUPLE OF OTHERS. They also get credit for any time served in the Cook County jail while awaiting trial. Department of Corrections gets sued if these formulas are not correct and GOD FORBID the inmate is not released on time!

So next time immediately divide most sentences by 2....subtract any additional days in County Jail and then continue to subtract 18 months for assorted "programs" supposed to reduce recidivism and voila! they are out in no time!!!!! Lighter sentences are usually the result of plea bargains.........attention Kim FOXX.

This illustrates the false idea of gun control laws it was illegal for Harviley a convicted felon to possess any sort of firearm. Libtards always blame the gun and not the thug. Curtis Sliwa the founder of The Guardian Angles once said in a panel discussion to a anti-gun activist when that person was wringing her hands and saying we have to ban the ownership of all guns. "lady you are 250 years to late for that idea".

Meanwhile....

Cook County prosecutors on Wednesday abruptly dropped narcotics charges against a man and his wife who alleged they were framed more than a decade ago by a corrupt Chicago police sergeant and his crew. The announcement came five days after Ben Baker and Clarissa Glenn filed a post-conviction petition alleging Sgt. Ronald Watts planted drugs on them during a 2005 arrest at the now-shuttered Ida B. Wells public housing complex. The development marked the latest fallout over the corrupt squad led by Watts, who in 2012 was charged along with one of his underlings, Officer Kallatt Mohammed, with shaking down a drug courier who turned out to be an FBI informant.

As utterly harmless as kids chalking the sidewalk to play hopscotch. There IS a presidential campaign going on, you know.

Emory University president says students are scared and 'in pain' after someone wrote 'Trump 2016' in chalk on campus

* President Jim Wagner said students viewed graffiti as intimidating
* Officials arranged a meeting for those offended to address concerns
* University organizations also offered counselling to those affected
* The editor of the student newspaper said some students 'felt victimized'
* A freshman said she 'feared for life' and thought it was a 'KKK rally'
* But some website commentators have told the students to grow up
* Republican frontrunner won the Georgia primary earlier this month

Things can still get worse for us and probably will but at this point we have no friends left other than the VERY SILENT majority. My point being is say what we mean and mean what we say and eventually after wading through all the blood the community leaders will realize that they need us imperfections and all. I don't think that it will change things for us all that much, I think proactive police work has at best one last nail before its coffin is shut. However maybe they will realize that Foxx and Preckwinkle and the ACLU and the DOJ and everyone else that has piled on top of us are no good for the community. Maybe at least then we will no longer be crucified for being a reactive police department.

The police blotter . . .
It’s not a slam dunk, yet.

Sneed hears Mayor Rahm Emanuel is between a rock and a hard place trying to decide who gets the nod as the city’s next top cop.

Sneed hears Emanuel, who still could toss out the list of three recommendations for the job and pick someone else, has been unnerved by negative police blog comments about contestant Deputy Police Supt. Gene Williams — as well as the very public mouth of frequent CNN commentator Cedric Alexander, the contestant who is public safety director of DeKalb County, Georgia.

Will he pick a new name out of the hat?

P.S. The Sun-Times first reported last month Alexander had emerged as a front-runner for the vacancy last December when Emanuel fired Police Supt. Garry McCarthy.

The Mayor will scrap the three and asks for different names and will eventually appoint someone he can both trust and control.
I can tell you that it it won't be any of the NOBLE candidates...
EW is pressuring the Mayor via the clergy and aldercreatures and CA criticized and embarrassed the Mayor nationally on CNN.

This is true. The Commander of 003 came into roll call and was practically begging Officers to go out and do police work since the numbers are down and crime is way up in the District. Maybe if he spent more time leading by example and not discipling people for parking near his parking spot he would have the the troops respect and they would actually go out there and do a little work.

Also, please tell you Tact secretary to stop trying to strong arm people into buying a promotional party ticket otherwise they will be dumped from their respective teams or cars... Most of us on the watch don't give a shit, but the hand full of Officers on teams that are bringing in some activity should not be forced to buy a ticket for someone they've never worked for and don't know. Once again, we are in the 003rd District, what can you possibly do to us? If you mess with us we simply will do absolutely ZERO and you can explain to your comrades at COMPSTAT why your crime is way up and your numbers are shit!

I wonder how many violent offenders have been released early versus how many committed violent offenses after being released.

There are bound to be some backsliders in a large number of parolees. Even prisoners that serve their full sentences often end up back in jail.

the only thing going for longer term sentences is they commit fewer crimes in prison than out on the street, but the cost is becoming something the state just cannot afford.

Off topic but I just watched the news and saw a piece about a handful of retired M/1 officers talking to reps of the DOJ about the CPD.
These "officers" know first hand how violent the black community is within this city yet they still go out of their way to paint the CPD as racist.
While at the same time they enjoy the benefits afforded them by the very officers they are out to crucify.
I am a M/2, and if the white population of this city was wreaking havoc and committing close to 75% of the violent crime in this city I would have NO problem with whatever pro-active methods would be necessary to ensure the safety of my family and fellow officers.

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, it was announced today that Chicago, including Cook County, Illinois experienced the greatest percentage loss in population of any major city in the nation.

Wonder why? Keep electing these money-grubbing, corrupt pieces of shit and catering to the parasites and the clouted. "The inmates have taken over the asylum". It appears as irreversible as Detroit. Chicagoans now have the highest sales tax (10.25%) in the nation. Based on today's unanimous (4-0 with 2 recusals) Illinois Supreme Court decision on pensions, taxes will have to exponentially rise even further.

Note that the complicit local mainstream media, the Better Government Association, etc. won't touch the subjects of term limits, voter recall referendum initiatives, the well-researched fact that compared to per capita representation in other major cities, Chicago's City Council should have no more than seventeen (17) wards/alderman. The City and the CPD are a shameless "cloutocracy". Patronage is beyond obscene and morale is nonexistent. "The best and the brightest" can go to Hell. The CPD only rewards favored ("merit", my ass) hacks and morons with promotions and choice assignments, The Patrol Division is mere cannon fodder as collateral damage in the mean streets. And that hypocritical charlatan and sanctimonious prick of a mayor has the chutzpah to spout about what he terms as "Chicago values".

Daley should have been in a federal prison cell over 20 years ago. Instead, the politicos name a large centrally-located park after his enabling wife. Capone Park would be less nauseating. Whiskey Tango Foxtrot on this Charlie Foxtrot of a city.

A change is needed.

Outsource the whole system! Why not ask for bids from China, Russia, Cuba, even Arizona? A whole bunch of other American jobs have been going off shore why not our criminals too? That should lower the costs...

Sneed hears Emanuel, who still could toss out the list of three recommendations for the job and pick someone else, has been unnerved by negative police blog comments about contestant Deputy Police Supt. Gene Williams —

Perhaps it's because WILLIAMS is the target of an IG investigation into the rigged lieutenant's examination.

If only people would go to jail for this non stop shit.

Yeah as if Escalante gives a fuck. In his defense he's working hard to be top 04 in the city so he has to give a stern concerned look. When the Black Congressional Caucus looks at anyone of these clowns they shit their pants and those are the assholes responsable for letting these black super-predators loose again so soon. One thing you have to admire tho ; They dont give a shit about what anyone thinks about them. They have gauged their communities right that crime isnt really an issue. Or at least its under "type of barbecue sauce for the ribs" in importance.

DO NOT let IPRA, IAD, FEDs anyone into your home without a warrant. Fuck their investigation and don't be so quick to give up your rights. Despite what some of these people may think, we still have rights and the constitution trumps any direct order if they try to play that game.

Good try FOP: you know you fucked up when the officer in question contacted you guys and he was instructed to comply with them. FOP does nothing and provides zero support when officers need them.

This is a true story and it happened last week

This is not a true story, just someone angry with an agenda.

I think every CPD Officer needs to know my partner and I were visiting the officer tonight when he was informed the medical section needed him to call ASAP to tell them about his IOD and explain why he hadn't reported to them earlier! Fucking ridiculous! Where the hell is FOP? Where were his bosses? You get shot and fucking medical section isn't notified? Just goes to show no one has our back or gives a shit!

Thanks for all the insight into our everyday issues on this job. If it wasnt for this blog, with all the input
many of us would go uninformed. Good job !

Happy Easter

The Mayor will scrap the three and asks for different names and will eventually appoint someone he can both trust and control.
I can tell you that it it won't be any of the NOBLE candidates...
EW is pressuring the Mayor via the clergy and aldercreatures and CA criticized and embarrassed the Mayor nationally on CNN.

The rumor is Hilliard and Lightfoot are attempting to make Rahm pick Gene by stacking the deck with two picks that didn't have a chance. Supposedly, Rahm sent the list back a couple of weeks ago and told them to remove Gene. They got cute and sent it right back with the same names and some nonsense about how they did extensive screening and that they wouldn't interview anyone else. Then, the Black caucus went public and said to pick Gene or they would make a problem.
Should be interesting.
