Tourists Say, "DUCK!!!"
- Charges have been filed against two men who were pulled over after shots were fired from their Jeep at another vehicle in Grant Park over the weekend, police said.
David Calvin, 20, and Kevin Billingslea, 27, are charged with aggravated discharge of a firearm at an occupied vehicle, according to a statement from police. Calvin and Billingslea appeared in court for a bond hearing Monday, with Calvin ordered held in lieu of $150,000 bail, and Billingslea held in lieu of $100,000 bail, according to Cook County Jail records.
No injuries were reported when the shots were fired around 2 p.m. Saturday in the 200 block of East Balbo Avenue, police said.
Okay, maybe not a thousand cuts, but a thousand bullets.

Great work Officers in securing these criminals arrest without anyone being injured or killed. A shooting on a Saturday in Grant Park at 2 in the afternoon.....I'd say a medal is in order! Well deserved! And without having a Super of Police confirmed! Better yet!!

Sunday night we were watching an episode of "The Good Wife" on CBS. They had a story line about the violent crime in Chicago and a gun shop and a billboard and lawsuit, etc... It is a known fact all over the world that Chicago is a violent city. Nice going rahm!

The situation from Saturday was a nice piece of work by the guys in 001. Nice convergence and takedown without turning into a clusterfuck. Heard it was a Glock 40 recovered? These MF'ers even have better weapons than most of us. Damn.
The politicians and chamber of commerce types ignore the numbers and ill-informed visitors do likewise. Chicago is increasingly user unfriendly -- random crime, high sales tax, outrageous parking and those lovely red-light cameras. That's just for starters. The reality is that between Crook (Chiraq) and Milwaukee (Killwaukee) counties there are over a million people along the lake alone with very little reason to come into a crime-ridden, inconvenient, expensive and outdated city.

It was two offenders, charged with Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm at a Moving Vehicle, felony. It took place at Balbo and Michigan and again at Harrison and Wells, at 2:00 PM on a sunny Saturday afternoon. It was a GREAT arrest whether it was in 001,007,011,015 Belfast or Beiruit. If you can not appreciate the effort of the officers involved, their courage and commitment, then please come see me and explain to me where they were lacking. I am in the property crimes office all week. As for the pictures, I was taking them. My Chief, and our Superintendent wanted as much info as soon as possible to pass up the chain. Their request, my responsibility. And yes I do enjoy promoting the exemplary actions of officers and detectives when ever I can. I guess when I spend so much time reading negative reports of our profession, it's a thing I can do to push back. So come see me, and teach me what you are doing to portray our profession in a better light. Be safe. Larry
