Are you kidding?? The cop had the latest Palm-size Laser Energy Rainbow Forcefield (PLERF).
If he would have aimed his palms to the kid, the kid would have fried up like an egg in a red-hot skillet in 10 seconds.
Of course the kid surrendered. The copper almost PLERF'ed him off the planet.
It uses four Lithium-Ion batteries in a pack on the cop's belt and uses a Dynamic Wavelength Division Multiplexing (DWDM) Laser.
OK....it doesn't work. BUT you have to admit, that would be a REALLY cool weapon.

take the test anyway, if for nothing else than the experience....as far as a career in law enforcement, look anywhere else than Chicago.....other states for example, or maybe the feds.....think of your future, perhaps with a family, etc...

Dude do you own a TV? Do you watch it? It's obvious you have internet but there's a great website called Google. Try Googling police stuff and see. Why would you want to be a cop at all? Anywhere? Any city? Seriously. Especially now with CCW permits allowed everywhere. I have 19 years on and I am dreading my last year with CPD. Start your own business man. Get into real estate. Any facet of it. You are crazy wanting to come on the job nowadays. Nobody should pass the psych test anymore as you'd have to be crazy to come on.
And then the pension issue? Huh. That's solely why I came one and look at that mess. I started a home inspection business and years later I have 4 guys working for me and I am getting ready to hire a 5th. I just did my taxes 2 days ago and I grossed over $250K owning a business not counting my cop job of $90K. Oh and all of you neigh sayers who don't believe me you can all go fuck yourselves. I'm not bragging. It's just a matter of fact. Do something on your own. Do not become a cop. Oh and I didn't cheat to make my $250K, didn't kiss the mayor's ass, don't sweat doing ISRs and parkers to work VRI.

To the prospective police officer at 0350, as a retired veteran of the CPD (31 years) and a now resident of Wisconsin, I have to tell you to go to Wisconsin. The CPD is dead. They have destroyed it. Life in Wisconsin is FAR,FAR superior to life in Chicago and the people up here actually like, respect and treat the Police here the way the Police deserve to be treated-as folks who stand between them and the evils of society. The appreciate the Police up here, not like in Chicago where they view the Police as the enemy. I loved my time on the CPD and 99% of it was a blast. I had a lot of fun and met and worked with some of the best people God ever put on earth. But it's done in Chicago.. The CPD will never be what it once was. The Rich Daleys,the Madigans,the Cullertons, the Reverends,the Democrats and the Rahm Emanuels have destroyed it. Come north, get hired somewhere and start life over. It's worth it. You will be far,far better off.
3:50 AM - Head North, this from a long retired Indiana "blue shirt" (did try a white shirt for a year or so but found out looked better in blue). We went through this in the 60-70's but was easier as video didn't exist as it does now and NO internet. The memory span being about 15 minutes helped us survive. Now with the added influence of the "Socialist" DOJ, etc., they can keep reliving your "transgression".
You might want to consider heading to FL. They still have excellent retirement with benefits starting at seven years service, not twenty as with the Midwest.

Take it for sure. See how things play out. Keep your options open. Use it to your benefit. Might want to get academy done here, get certified, still keep applying in Wisconsin or wherever. Weigh everything yourself, some truth on this blog and some bullshit. You be the judge.
This is pretty much how the criminal court system works in Cook Country. Of course they featherbed it up and over staff it political dead weight. But is pretty much it already.

Never close off ANY option in your life. You can take the test and decide later if you want the job. If you don't take the test, you have zero option to get the job.
Apply in Wisconsin and move out of Chicago. No future in CPD anymore. Go someplace else where you will be appreciated for your work, where you and your family will be safe to live and you wont face the level of violence and political prosecution of the police going on here. There has always been a risk in doing this job but things are worse now than they have ever been.

This is what they want from the office of the president all the way down get the hint DE-policing is the way and the only way to go! "don't tell me what to do" OK that's the mantra the government media complex, the police shiny gold star club, the elected all are full of propaganda inducing lies about police!
Watching sirens wail, cars flying by to go to ghetto nonsense "see at your fund raiser" will be the next words you will hear. You go over and above you get paid and are stressed out, you do nothing you get paid and are stress free! Policing has changed dramatically get on the bus, or get under it protect Blue black lies matter will cause more havoc as long as the elected keep doing anarchy and mayhem inducing reports and keep siding with criminal thugs!
There's only one reason I'd recommend anyone try to join the CPD at this point, and that's just to get paid while you're in the academy and then quit. It's damn good money for not really having to do anything. You sit in a classroom, learn a little about the law, learn how to shoot, learn some control tactics, etc. and they pay you for it. The moment they try to let you graduate and throw you to the wolves with the rest of us, RUN AWAY AS FAST AND AS FAR AS YOU CAN. If you want to be the police, find a nice, smaller suburban town somewhere, preferably somewhere the liberal morons haven't taken over yet, and enjoy. Any crime-ridden shithole, where the media and elected scum bow before the criminals and blame the police for everything, doesn't deserve a real police force. Don't try to get a job as the police in a place like that.

The future of policing looks like the scan system with hand readers will be implemented soon for police and fire, according to Suntimes reports, now boss could you let me leave early after that great pinch incentive is gone, ok boss what incentives are you able to offer, the carrot and stick approach is leaving quickly. Will the punch in equal 8.5 hour workday,and lining up to punch out? Will this be citywide including at court and detective units, plus all the "special" secret squirrel hidden gems?
