And Speaking of May

  • Two men were killed and at least 28 other people, including a 16-year-old girl and a 15-year-old boy, have been wounded in shootings since late Friday morning across the city, according to Chicago police.
Thirty shot. Wow. You know the brass was thanking any deity they could think of that temperatures dropped Saturday morning and laying the groundwork for another Department Commendation for Tommy Skilling.

You know what would be inspirational at a point like this?
  • Chicago Police Superintendent Eddie Johnson was just another officer on the street Friday night, out patrolling in the West Side Austin district.

And he was wearing a body camera.

So was First Deputy John Escalante, as the two responded to “routine’ calls including a burglary, a “man down,” and various traffic incidents.

That was his haul before meeting reporters at the busy corner of Cicero Avenue and Madison Street to give a report on his night out in solidarity with officers in a district where all officers soon will wear the cameras.
Because street cops in 015 always meet a bevy of reporters partway through their shift.

Did any of the media ask to see the footage Eddie and Johnny recorded? Was policy followed? Officer safety? ISR's completed? Test answers excha...oh wait, that's a question no one seems to be asking.

I can't wait until we get our body cameras so I don't have to do anything any more.

Hmmmm,, soon Eddie Johnson will be getting a TV show like Steven Seagal driving around New Orleans.

Might as well play it up. Maybe it would be a hit?

Chicago's own version of COPS. It's not like we wouldn't have enough calls for him to drive to.

HEY- maybe that's a way to fund the pension - A TV show.

It's.........SHOW TIME.

All of the footage that Johnson shot were rooftops and trees. The guy can't even wear the body camera the right way. He had it clipped to his lapel on his best with the lens pointing under his chin up to the sky.

Let me get this straight, he just responded to calls? Any self-initiated street or traffic stops? Above movers or Parkers? ANOV? ISR's? Did he have to use force? Did De-Escalante De-escalate a situation? Did he even tell a group of dudes hanging on a corner to "get the f$&@ ohn"? Did he drop even a VIN and do a case report? Cuz if answering calls is all he did he better not be asking us to do anything more. Can we FOIA that body camera footage?

I want to see the video. Was policy followed. Was it activated correctly. Routine calls? Nothing in law enforcement is ever to be considered routine. What a bunch of political crap for the media. This horse and pony show did absolutely nothing. Many were still shot while these two leaders were out parading around. How about some real leadership and demanding the community members fix some of their own problems.

What do you expect from Eddie?
He and his fiancé, Nakia Fenner, can't even get their lies straight regarding the Lt. exam scam.
Eddie told the media that Nakia attended numerous study groups while Nakia told them she didn't attend any!

Now that's leadership that's gonna restore trust in the department and boost morale.

Many years ago on a CTA bus.
On Mothers Day no less...

Ol' Winehead pours an ass-pocket full of loose change
down the hopper. Driver waves him by. (It's called picking/
choosing the battles you want to have.)

Winehead says:
"Happy Mutha's Day to airy mutha on dis bus!"

Snickers and a few joking comments about "Whoop yo ass
If'n da po-leece wasn't here..."

Nowadays?
An ass-whoopin' would've been the least...
You know somebody would take genuine offense
and open fire with The Police on the damn bus.

How badly have things decayed over the last 30+ years?

Retiring in 9 years. 20 and a day and I'm OUT!!! My activity consists of me waving at people and answering calls. Writing reports and arrest on signed complaints. Proactive policing is a crime in this new liberal environment thank you ACLU for making my job 10x easier.

You consented to being recorded by wearing the device.
You can't claim you didn't know the screen would be recorded.
Hold your phone out of the sightlines.
Don't text your wife (or girlfriend, or supervisor).
Leave your phone in your pocket.
Now that we have that out of the way, Mom is calling and she wants you upstairs, out of the basement. It's dinner time.

The only good thing about these cameras is the total number of hours recorded will probably overload the system. 22 districts * 24 hours a day * 30 officers a shift on the street = 15840 hours A DAY of video =5,781,600 hours a year of video. The servers will choke, and, the city will be bankrupt paying taser to hold all that video for them. Now, FOIA all of that.......
